Thank you so much for mentioning the slavery history. Plantation tours that focus on beautiful decor and living without telling the whole story make me crazy.

Welcome to Mississippi! I live about an hour and half from Lorman and we make the trip a few times a year just to see Mr D and get some chicken. He is the sweetest, most genuine person. He is right about the love! You can really tell that he loves his job and customers. Love hearing him sing. Hope you enjoy my home state!

Loved this video. I was born in Southern Mississippi and my mom grew up there but I have never made it to Natchez. I have a great memory of driving my grandmother up the Natchez trace to Tupelo to see a monument of a fallen family member on a Civil war monument. Thanks for the series I cannot wait to watch more.

My husband and Visit Natchez every year except during the pandemic. We have reservations to go in May 2022. I must say it is our favorite vacation spot. We love the history and the wonderful people there and lots of good food. We haven’t tried that Old Country Store fried chicken but I plan on putting it on our list. Thank you for sharing another to place visit. We love history and especially going in the beautiful homes. You need to check out the towers during Christmas holidays because the owner has it decorated and shows off her beautiful jewelry. Glad you shared this great video.

I used to live in Natchez. It has a lot of history but could be so much better of an area if the government would.focus on bringing in jobs to the area. The economy there is poor, sadly.

I know I'm a little late finding this video. I have family that lives in Natchez Mississippi. I live in Ga., but my grandfather was from Mississippi. There were 9 siblings in that family. All have passed away except my grandfather's youngest sister. I still have several cousin's that live in Mississippi. I have visited Natchez several times growing up. The last time I was there was 17 years ago. It is so neat to be on one side of the river in Mississippi and drive across the bridge and then your in Louisiana. I used to love when my Uncle Clyde, and his wife Rita and his 2 kids Suzie and Bubba would come to visit us too. I also had an aunt Etta Faye and her family that lived there in Natchez too. My cousin Susie was the sweetest person. I used to love when we got see each other. Sorry for rambling. You brought back some great memories for me. Thank you both for sharing your beautiful video. Safe travels...!! ❤

We did the Natchez Trace 3 years ago, but didn't spend much time in Natchez. After this vid, it's on my bucket list to go back. Be sure to detour to see the Windsor Mansion ruins near Gulf Camp. It's about 1/2 way between Natchez and Vicksburg. 73 de KB7KZ

The worlds best fried chicken. Now that is a bold statement. If you are ever in SoCal there is a restaurant in Anaheim called Mrs. Knotts. It's outside the gates of Knotts Berry farm and it has fried chicken like my grandmother used to make. Come to Cali. and try theirs and see how they match up. I'm 66 years old and it has been a long time since I've had fried chicken that good. Happy motoring and stay safe

Mike, Jen and Bo, love the video, especially The Old Country Store and Mr D. Is he not quite the character? Did you have the opportunity to just snoop around the store while there. There are so many fascinating things to see there. Vidalia, La, is famous for being the home town of three rather famous cousins. Do you know who they are?

It’s worth saying that the plantation system and indentured servitude was a relic of feudalism and not an American creation though we are credited for ending it. The Agrarian society has always been somewhat based on a “share Cropping” structure. Not to belittle the injustice of “slavery” or Indentured servitude as all races have suffered under it and other forms of oppression. However the Plantations and their history should never be vilified as it was part of a historical foundation for all Americans and the successes all races have enjoyed the opportunity to create for themselves in the USA.

The lady, Ginger forgot to mention the slavery trade. That's something very important to mention. That brought in a lot of money. Yes it's something that's tainted the US and there's no escaping that history.
