When I came back from Afghanistan in 2010 that's when I discovered the tau and Warhammer 40K as well it's been so much fun I just wish there was a group to play with around in my area.

The bigest mistake that GW has made with the Tau in recent years is to try and give them some dark edge. They should be the good guys in a universe of darkness, a lone light monst shadowy opents at best.

The Tau are scary and amazing at the same time. It does not fit my way of fighting, but it is so damn cool. I cant wait to see them explode even more stuff!

When I was getting into Warhammer 40k I didn’t know what army I wanted to play. But when I saw the video Nick did showing off all his T’au made me realize they were the army I wanted. He even got me to want kitbash my own stingwings so thanks Nick for getting me into the greater good!

Theyre literally the only faction that offers you to join them as an option to "we just kill you lol"... which indeed basically makes them the only real "good guys" in the franchise

I remember I started collecting tau when I was in year 6 (uk) so about age 12. I got a firewarrior kit for my birthday and I was so proud of them that when I built a couple I took them to school in my book bag to show my friends and they got absolutely destroyed because I left them loose in my bag all day with my books, lunchbox etc. hard to think that was 15 years ago!

I love seeing two Fish People talking happily so much of their lore. Jokes aside, this is actually enjoyable to watch. As someone who’s recently got into 40k (last year), the T’au has always been my favorite faction and it was the faction that got me interested in 40k. So seeing this interaction or discussion is quite wholesome to watch.

I feel like if anyone is engineering a race to be advanced and that can take on Chaos effectively it would be the Necrons, not the Eldar. Especially Illuminor Szeras, he'd be all over that!! It'd be great if you could do a deep dive on Daemons or Orks next. They'd be really fun. Also, I thoroughly enjoyed that video and learned some interesting new lore!

I was unsure of which faction to start with when I joined the hobby a couple years ago. Their lore, mechs, and play style are just so much fun. Seeing Nick have a blast playing them and even killing an Imperial Knight with a wounded Farsight in melee sealed the deal for me. Now my army is steadily growing. From startung with a mere Pathfinder team to now building Stormsurge and a Coldstar/Enforcer tag team duo I'm now looking at the start of a great army to field while having a blast putting them all together. Thanks, Nick, for inspiring me to pick the Greater Good!

- The aquatic names are probably rough translations of tau names. In the Fire Warrior novel, tau have an aquatic-sounding "dorsal" bomber and revere t'pel sharks and other creatures that lived in the landlocked seas of T'au. - Tau do have cir'etz scales on their spine, also from Fire Warrior. - One of the first planets destroyed by the Imperium during the first Damocles Crusade was a tau fishing colony, which spawned a sushi-eating meme on Advanced Tau Tactica back in 2005? - The idea that the tau are a product of a faction of Eldar is interesting, since in the FFG Deathwatch sourcebooks, one Necron studying reverse biotransference recognized "the work of the Old Ones' progeny" in the tau.

this was such an interestign video! I'd love more where the players discuss their armies, why they got into them, etc. I think esp when they go over different tactics over the course of the tau lifespan in the game was cool! Also just discussing lore bits and what they like/dislike was cool. Excited to see the video of these two playing (:

I wasn't the first to get the army box, but I wasn't too far behind; even got a mention in canon for my role-playing in the Eye of Terror campaign as "a human traitor operating out of Sa'cea" in the 3rd edition Tau Empire codex. I've loved the army and the lore from day one. I'm really impressed by that collection on the table, and frankly a bit envious. Really good modelling and painting... and a great discussion of the lore to boot. Great episode. May you keep bringing the light of the Greater Good to the benighted galaxy beyond our spheres. (And keep frying all tellers of fish jokes.) PS: would Hunter cadres feast on Waygu beef?

I got into warhammer and tau about a year ago and although I’m not the best Pinter every time I see a battle report or showcase of tau on play on table top it inspires me to keep loving the blue boys

Tau is my least favorite army in 40k (all about necrons baby) but I will never disparage you for liking them Nick, and I do still enjoy hearing you and other Tau enthusiasts share your love of them. It's entertaining watching you gush about the goat-fish (yes the fish thing is just to tease you at this point)

I started 40k during 4th ED and the T'au in the display case of the store is what initially convinced me to go in and get started. Now over a decade later, watching Nick's T'au on Play On convinced me to pick up the hobby again. I'm working on painting up my old models and can't wait to watch the T'au vs T'au battle report. Yes! Finally, someone else says what I've always said. That the T'au are the order equivalent to the Tyranids. They both evolve and adapt at a ridiculous rate. And considering how often they've faced each other in the lore and how much their encounters have effected both sides, it makes more and more sense. I love it. I LOVE George's army. It's exactly what I'd build if I had the ability to make one, a whole army of battlesuits. Their sleek, sensibly designed tech IS the reason I became a fan of them in the first place. As Nick says, it looks efficient and competent. Like these things were made by an actual engineer instead of sanctified priests or ancient bone Mages or... Whatever the necrons do (though their aesthetics have their own appeal to me).

I joined around the start of 9th as a tau player and fell in love with the models, eventually I picked up chaos space marines, but tau are still my preferred. It would be so fun to just paint and hang out with Nick, he seems like such a nice and genuine guy.

My first game with my Tau tomorrow, Vs Space marines and Necrons. Can't wait!

Faction focus Chaos knights I think that most people think that chaos knights are just a stat line army but I feel that people should know more about the chaos knights in particular. Because the reason some of them became chaos was that they were defending the imperium and they went mad from defending them

I picked up T'au when they first came out. A friend told me they have suits like Gundam and i was sold. I have the Citadel Miniatures, Free Copy, that came out in 2001 wehen They came out. There rail guns was the main weapon i feel in love with and now its finally a weapon to be feared again.. if we hit :D

I got into warhammer 1 month ago now, got given a Pathfinder box, and now i have a couple of different models and I love it. Battlesuits are so amazing.

Glad to find that they are from the Imperial's perspective, and that the Tau's perspective are the more logical; technical code names, which from this day forth, I shall now call them by - It's not a Devilfish! It's TY7! ... and I also learnt what an 'Ungulate' is - Large mammals with hooves :D

Honestly first i didnt like Tau but after so many battle reports. nicks passion for tau and after this video i learnd so much about their lore. Now i think they are really cool.

I've just recently started getting into 40k, and the XV88 Broadside pretty much immediately spoke to me, and got me excited about playing some T'au. I've branched out into Necrons and Marines as well now, but the Greater Good will always be my home now.

Great video, and that is a gorgeous looking army, the Tau always feel at home in some desert dust. As a kid I had just started to collect Space Marines (the boys in blue) but very soon after I got that issue of White Dwarf with the Tau release, and my fate was sealed.

I just started War Hammer 40k, and was choosing my army and I thought the T'au would be a good army an when I saw Nick play it sealed the deal.

I've been researching Warhammer, and some other wargaming tabletops to find something cool to get into. I love me some mechs, so I was also looking for that. I think the T'au is just what I was looking for. It's just a bonus that I also dig the fact that the fight "for the greater good" in the nightmare that is the world of 40k. Thanks for the video.

This was great. would love to see a faction focus on the Drukhari. They are my favorite army. Versatile kits, great looking figures, consistent range only marred by the lack of availability of certain units, especially the covens stuff. And a great, evocative, veeeeeery grimdark lore.

was encouraged to buy dawn of war by some friends and while waiting for them to get online found the tau in the army painter, instantly drawn in by the Fire Warriors, XV-25 unit's and the tactical drones.

I recently picked up Farsight Crisis of Faith by Phil Kelly and I'd love some other books for after I finish it.

I hadn't played Warhammer in about 30 years, when my son's convinced me to get any army to play against them. When I started looking Tau caught my eye, then video's by Tau Nick sold me on them. So I'm watching videos while putting my army together. Thanks for the dive into Tau in this video. I'd like you guys to dive into Adeptus Mechanicus.

I started Tau at the end of Eighth edition so idk about the history of the tau on the tabletop but I chose tau because the aesthetic of the infantry and the battle suits, plus as a sifi nerd I’ve always loved the concept of front line infantry mechs.

I was so young when i discovered 40k, it was because of Dawn of War 1, I was playing warcraft 3 during that time, but i wanted to try a sci-fi version of that and didnt want to play starcraft (starcraft 2 didnt exist yet).. and after trying every races available, i was so confused about the lore and races. I ended up really liking how the Tau looked. They had giant robots and small robots (i thought they were robot back then) and mixed up with different races like the kroots and the great knarloc.. so basically i fell in love with all the diversity there was in just one race

I paint the minis but haven't actually played the tabletop since 1991 when I played the original Space Hulk. Haha. But I will be playing the T'au in Tacticus. Thanks for the video! I got introduced to the Tau thanks to the UA mod for Dawn of war soulstorm. I hope to soon be ablt to paint and assemble Commander Shadowsun and my pathfinder I bought months ago on reddit.

In the second Last chancers book, Killteam, by Gav Thorpe, you get a detailed explenation to what Tau eat due to the killteam meeting envoys and sit down to dinner with them on a Tau planet, a good read

I like the idea that the ethereals are the last remnants of what's left of the old ones. The orks and eldar failed and so they've put their hopes in a new race. As for which faction to cover next: I really like Grey Knights. They were my first army and so hold a place in my heart and they're good in every stage on the tabletop. I wish I could showcase mine on your channel, but travelling from England to Canada is expensive.

I'd like to see all 4 chaos gods worth of armies on the table at once and talk about how each works and how they can work together etc. I don't know much about most factions, but chaos is one of the most interesting to me because it's like 4 factions + a 5th merged faction of any number of the 4 and that is really cool imo.

I have just been getting into 40K and I have been really interested in the Tau so much I decided to make them my main army. Tau remind me of the covenant from Halo and the Council races from Mass Effect.

I never played the table top, but I played dark crusade and soulstorm on the PC. My buddies and I all picked a faction and we would have little tournaments for bragging rights and I used to be so butt hurt cause they picked the space marines. Even the guardsmen who were really weak had range and basilisk's, then I saw the tau and the greater good lol and fell in love. But on KZfaq they always talk about the imperium and the primarchs and though it's very cool lore I always wanted to know more about the tau.

I've always been a big Tau fan too, and I have a sizable army, but for me, the Kroot are my all time favourite 40k race, and one of my favourite races in fiction. I really like the duality of the Kroot/Tau relationship, their savage nobility and just how culturally different they are, with it making logical sense why they are that way. My army is built as a Scout/Recon force using Dal'Yth rules; lots of Kroot, no tanks, and nothing larger than a Ghostkeel. I too inhale the Tau lore (while wishing there was more Kroot lore) and find that strange warp entity fascinating as well, it's been a theory of mine for a long time that there could be other warp entities created though more positive emptions that are simply surprised by the Chaos Gods, so I'm curious if they are going to go that route. As for the Etherals, my theory is that they either are secretly the Old Ones, or are some remnant of them. In the way that the Old Ones shaped the Eldar and the Orks, they are now shaping the Tau for whatever purpose they need to fulfill. As for codecies, I agree that 9th is my favourite Tau book, for many reasons, but primarily that I can FINALLY field an all Kroot army again. Feel on the tabletop, I think it's close, Kroot feel really good to play and are quite maneuverable, if I was to add anything from a fluff perspective, I'd give Kroot the ability to fall back and charge, even if it was just in stratagem form and not baseline. I think that bit of extra maneuverability wouldn't make them that much stronger, but would play up their ambush tactics even more. That and have some kind of points based upgrade tree where they could gain some kind of buff based on a race that they consumed the most so you can tailor the Kroot based on their food. Also, bringing back Knarlocs. Legends rules are all well and good, (the Great Knarloc is actually still REALLY strong despite its rules coming out in early 8th) but the Knarloc riders really got left behind with the Krootox changes. Also, (and more importantly) new rules = new models and I'd love to see them again, even as a FW exclusive. (Though plastic Knarlocs would blow my mind.) Anyway, stay strong, and keep up the fight for the Greater Good. :D

I'll be honest, I've heard about WH40K when I was about 10, was told too expensive and didn't get into it (mind you that was 24 years ago) Back in 2014, I worked at a call center where many of my colleagues were just painting wh40k figurines all day. Got into it too, it didnt take me long to have a huge HUGE crush on Necrons. reanimating dead units *chefs kiss* and the lore. was very scarce but as time moved on novellas etc. still one of my favorite armies... THAT SAID. lately found some 3d models (proxy) for tau that made me look into them. and boy of boy, kinda my new favorites. started listening to farsight audiobook. and like. Now i need a Tau army 100% Necrons are cool. Tau is where its at. :D I share the entousiastic feel about them now.
