The History of BTD6's Most Competitive Challenge: The 2TC

Beating CHIMPS with only 2 towers is the most popular challenge in BTD6, and this is the full history of the 2TC. We start off with @KyrosQuickfist's run which was the first ever 2tc in BTD6 and we move on to cover the overall trends, new towers coming into the scene, and track the leaderboards throughout the entire video. So we can see what players have the most 2TCs and what monkeys are used the most in the unique runs.

There were hundreds of unique runs across several updates so hopefully I got everything. Let me know if you liked this style of video because I can definitely do more in the future! I remembered when SJB said that a 2TC with Ultraboost was impossible, now we are here with Ultraboost scoring 15 unique combos to this day, including one with the Crossbow Master which I was internally screaming with joy when the last FDDT was popped on R99. 😇This video was an absolute blast to watch throughout, must of taken a gargantuan amount of time to research into 2TCs, record, edit etc! I loved using the Absolute Zero with Santa Churchill! ❄A huge thank you for the shoutout Hbomb, have a nice everyone! 😄

Wow, absolutely amazing video Hbomb, a huge thank you so much, for crediting me for Corvus 1tcc, that took just an absolutely absurd amount of effort from not just me, but the rest of the community aswell, as soon as we found out he could camo solo, we just took it as far as possible until I was finally able to break 95 at like 3am the night before a giant calculus test (yes that was originally me, masmaves got it from crow, who got it from me lol) (i did not fail the test somehow), amazing video, huge thanks!

It’s does stand for Massive Ornery Air Blimp, but it’s derived from Massive Ornery Air Blast. Much like the actual bomb, most people (developers and community alike) refer to it as the “Mother Of All…” It’s both. You can argue about it, but there’s no point. It’s like arguing that someone’s name isn’t really John because their parents originally named them Jonathan.

@@Jells_ that’s true. According to Ninjakiwi, it DOES stand for Massive Ornery Air Blimp. I’m not arguing about that. I’m arguing that a large portion of the community will *always* refer to it as the Mother of all Bloons, because it’s a parody of the *actual* bomb with essentially the same nickname, which precedes the game. Ninjakiwi didn’t create the term MOAB. They can tell us what it stands for in the context of their own game, but they don’t get to remove the inherited properties or nicknames from something they didn’t actually create in the first place. Like I said, it’s a pointless argument, but Ninjakiwi could also be considered “inherently incorrect.”

@@vyor8837 with how low the proof standards were back then naming any specific way of faking the completion is an absurd thing to try and do but with the positions of the towers r100 seems impossible based on modern analysis and especially there is no known way to have the arms behave how they are shown in the screenshot of the end screen we have access to the version that the combo was done in and many people have independently come to the conclusion of it being faked

Great video. So much of this takes me back. I loved watching the new combos when they were rare and the ISAB ones had great production quality. It was fun getting to pioneer Ace completions even though so many people ended up so much better than me at Ace micro eventually. Love the history.

this vid was a nice trip down memory lane! just putting it out there that shredder beat flying fortress in the mad dash to 2TC #110 for a brief crazy moment. The groundwork was laid with biper and I took a break.. until NK started dropping big buffs to fortress (gg extrem). But r98 solo tech went hard and shredder still had its moment shoutout to plorder, missed but never forgotten

You should add the index to the description. Additionally, three towers have yet to complete a 2tc (if we count sauda and gerry combos) that are theoretically affordable in CHIMPs. Those are Ben, Jones, and Super Mines. I have a bounty out on completions with those towers $50 for smines, and $100 for the others. Gwen (somehow, shockingly) was the fourth to last to be completed. I had a bounty out on her which was finally paid to tooprood

@@Hbombvideo is excellent. The only thing I feel is missing is some background music. For long form content, I feel emplemon has the best mix of background music that’s interesting enough to where you can perfectly hear it, but it never interrupts and makes the viewer not pay attention to your commentary. I would perhaps look into something similar for longer videos, if possible. Aside from that, extraordinary video.

Hmmm this seems about as well researched as one can do without delving into the community themselves too deep, good job! One major thing though is the fact that version hopping was allowed, so a lot of the runs that appear "done" in version 31 were actually done much later when players were allowed to revisit past versions (which is quite the process, unfortunately, but it did allow for some cool 2tcs) For example I myself have never touched 2tc in version 31 until lately with this change, version 31 was also known as the most broken version of all time and had all sorts of wacky bugs that players didnt figure out in time despite the gap between 31 and 32 being the largest gap between updates and so it still had a lot left to give. There were a few other past versions that were touched upon too iirc, but the vast majority of stuff was done in 31 so the numbers there are a bit skewed another small thing to mention would be saudas ban only happening after the geraldo 1tc theres a lot more that was missing too but overall without beyond extensive research that is unreasonable to be expected from anyone, this is a great video to catch up to the history of the challenge with! Great job.

It is unfortunately a bit of a dying community, videos like these could bring forward a wave of new people though which I am hopeful for. It'd be amazing to get some new names in there! My tip would be to indeed look at patch notes AS SOON AS THEY ARE OUT and try and do something with those, or any new towers/heroes that release with already well established towers like wizard lord phoenix, then rush those.

Im not really into btd6 much anymore, but I was into 2tc quite a bit, and I love documentary videos, so definitely watching this. I used to have multiple 2tcs to my name but after banning sauda I lost most of them.😢I still have Archmage Pirate Lord to my name tho.😊 Also, now we need a 2mp history video lol. I would love to see more documentary btd6 vids, and 2mp is just as worthy as 2tc, plus there might be other interesting things to cover, like apc or fttc.

While my other 2tcs I understand cause they were part of large groups, this was unforgiveable. The 2TC train is going smooth even nowadays. The chart will only get larger now due to the supposedly newcomers of this year, the Jetpack hero and the Mermonkey. What will they bring to the table to make them 2tc worthy, only when they are released will people expriment on them like lab rats.

I'm happy being a pioneer but it got too grindy for me and I obviously wasn't as skilled as you and some others when people started to actually learn and practice

Something funny to point out about the 2TC Achievement... you do not HAVE to play regular CHIMPS to get this achievement... Odyssey also counts towards this (which yes means you can beat chimps with extra health... weird)
