Love it. Grew up driving an Oldsmobile, on a Fisher Body, rolling on Motor Wheel rims.

I was born in Lansing too and lived in around the Lansing area for almost my whole life so this documentary was very cool to see. At one time, a huge number of people in the area were employed by the automotive industry. Many of my friends and family were employed by either Oldsmobile, Fisher Body, REO or Motor Wheel. Very sad when GM killed off the Oldsmobile brand. Also very sad to see when shortly afterward, Fisher Body and many of the Oldsmobile plants were town down. Still feels bizarre to see huge empty lots where there was once a huge factories.

Born and raised in Lansing. Still here in Lansing. Could only imagine living here back when Olds was at its peak

Late 70's-early 80's, we were Number 3, right behind FORD, and Chevy selling 1.3 Million a year.

Proud to say that the first few years my checks said Oldsmobile in the top left corner. Not GMAD, BOC, and not even SATURN.

Fascinating! Thank you for posting! Found it interesting as well as entertaining, as I was born in Lansing in 1960, and grew up there.

Very well done. All of those times I used to race over Henry Ford and his assembly line. Little did I know that Oldsmobile should have been my focus of admiration. I wish this documentary would have delved into Olds being the first manufacturer to offer all three modes of transportation; the gasoline, electric and steam variety vehicles at the same time. A first.

Very well done documentary , though I was hoping to find out more about the REO factory. I remember going over the bridge on Cedar St. in the early 70's and it was still going. Later when I was in High school we used to skip school at go through the factory. I wish I still had all the artifacts from there, the only thing that remains is an exit sign from the club house on Washington. My sister has it now and is going to donate it to the REO Museum.

The love for the automobile used to be done with craftmanship and hand skills. Today its only numbers built by robots without a soul.

Very interesting video of Oldsmobile I've grown up with my father owning several of olds cars I've been a long time fan of this historic franchise its such ashamed that GM killed this iconic brand along with pontiac

GM would have gladly kept Oldsmobile , and Pontiac if there was enough interest for consumers to buy them. They made fine automobiles for decades , several I liked.

You gloss over it, but Olds’ Jefferson Ave plant (which was essentially across the street from the Belle Isle Bridge) was most likely the worlds 1st purpose built automotive plant.

And no. Henry built his 1st car on Bagley Ave in 1896. FoMoCo was founded in 1903.

I have owned & driven Oldsmobiles for 62 years......Cutlasses, 88s, 98s, 442s and an Aurora. Olds is no longer with us because GM didn't know a good thing when it saw it!!!!!!
