Hello everyone!
And welcome back to another 'History Of' video, and today of course still coming off the celebration of that fantastic reveal for Ermac, today i though It would be a wonderful opportunity to cover his cameo who hasnt been seen In 17 years, Mavado!
Now Is a very interesting character In the franchise, as hes been exclusively tied to the of the 3D trilogy, and only at best made very briefs cameos from Armageddon onwards, so what better opportunity would it be to sit down and finally talk about the second in command of the red dragons, as well as what has become of him throughout the franchise!

Mavado was one of my favorite new additions to MK through Deadly Alliance, which was the one I played the most between it and Trilogy as a kid. Was always shocked people hated him later on, until I found out people had a grudge against the 3D titles in general.

Same here. I really liked Mavado and enjoyed the little backstory we got of him. Only for him the vanish from the games after Armageddon for nearly 2 decades due to supposedly many MK fans not like him and others.

@@Trojanaloha Don't believe so. Mavado and the Red Dragon weren't introduced until Deadly Alliance.

It's interesting from the gameplay trailer for Ermac, that Mavado lacks his hook swords. Very interesting change from a gameplay pov.

@@ahmadceasar5484 yeah but him and Kabal still shared a moveset in Armageddon since they both came back. So i wouldn’t say it’s a definite Kabal confirmed for DLC later on but also it is weird they took away the hookswords completely from Mavado when him and Kabal could’ve easily both had them and it wouldn’t have been a problem

Maybe NRS wanted to keep the hookswords as a Kabal thing, so they doubled down in the one thing unique for Mavado

Like, Mavado was always cool in concept but poorly executed. I like the idea of a Kano counterpart that's savvy and formal and stoic. Hope he gets some plot someday.

Glad to finally see Mavado return and I hope more is done with the character in this new era. Not just lazily tossed aside due to being a 3D era kombatant. I'd like to see the creators/writers work around with him being a master manipulator whose pulling strings and evolved in numerous schemes behind the schemes. His influence being retroactively being felt at least as early as Mortal Kombat 4 is details I like. I also felt Mavado is a perfect rival to Kano being more disciplined and intelligent. As well as a very powerful warrior overall seeing as he defeated fighters like Jax, Sonya, Kano, and nearly killing the likes of Kabal and Kenshi. Should be more impressive given that Mavado is a normal human from Earthrealm that doesn't really rely on technological enhancements nor possess any supernatural abilities like his adversaries.

Interesting to note that the lack of Hookswords on Mavado may actually denote a lack of connection between the Red and Black Dragon orgs. I hope they keep them separate, the Special Ops stuff was convoluted and unnecessary as it was.

The MKX comic IS canon. There is some inconsistencies with the plot due to communication errors between the comic and MKX game writer but the major plot points in the comics did happen as it was explained in MKX story mode.

He had quite a winning streak there before Kabal came back in Deception. I've always liked the Red Dragon as a faction in the lore. Would've been epic to see cutscenes of the deal they had with the Deadly Alliance as well as they going after OIA and his rematch with Kabal. Side note, Why was Fujin against Tavern infiltrating the Red Dragon base? That encounter was incredibly strange to see a cutscene of a seemingly korrupted Fujin 🤔

@@xavierhouston4650 Well first of all I don't think Mavado has ever been white, he was originally based on a Spanish word and designed as a matador. Second of all Mortal Kombat has always been pretty diverse and being bothered by that just seems weird. And third of all that has nothing to do with anything I was talking about, so I think you just want to complain about things.

There are as many members of the Red Dragon than in the other factions of Mortal Kombat. red dragon : mavado and hsu hao 2 shirai ryu : scorpion and takeda 2 lin kuei : sub zero and smoke 2 cyber initiative : cyrax and sektor 2 shaolin : Liu Kang and kung lao 2 special forces : sonya blade and jax 2 black dragon : kano and jarek 2

Considering Mavado's connections to Daegon and Hsu Hao makes me wonder if they will eventually show up someday. I hope they will partially because it would feel weird to me if they got cut yet Mavado is kept. Hopefully we will get Hsu Hao at least as another Kameo just like we have Kano and Tremor. Just thinking but how many Red Dragon characters are their in MK? Just realize I think there are more Black Dragon members then Red Dragon. Hopefully they will fix that because I think those two gangs should stay equal.

I never thought of the Attack on Titan conection until you pointed it out. Most, if not all, of The Titans are too big to participate in MK, but they could they stomping about in the background. They did that with Giganta and Atom Smasher in Injustice.
