Yeah, I’m considering getting a set of Rude Hihats. I now play Paiste 3000’s and Z new beats. I use the sound edge on the bottom with a new beat on top.

Personally, the pst ride is the worst cymbal I have ever heard and played imo. Even a Pearl brand ride that came with the kit sounded god tier in comparison.

Manufacturers cleaner is nothing but a scam. It's bronze. All you need is a bottle of mustard and a cheap paint brush. Paint it on, let it set for 20 minutes and throw it in the shower. Towel dry.

Was it the 602's or the Giant Beat? I'll take your word on it. It was the 602's - they've been around longer.

@@bandfromtheband9445 they NEVER made sound edge GB . The GB sound edges out now are 2019 . And yes the first 4 Zeppelin albums are GBs not 2002s

@@natevanslyke7274 were you in the studio? At the end only who was in the studio can say with guarantee which gear Bonham used. There also some rumors that on the first album he used some Zildjians. ;-)

The first B8 line was actually Stambul 65. Stambul 65 were always a separate series from Stambul and sold at the same time. Stambul went from NS12 to B8 sometime around 1971 as Stambul 65 and Giant Beat were winding down production.

The same reason Zildjian A line became thicker in the 70’s and 80’s. It took until 2013 until Zildjian revamped the A line and most of them all thinner.

yeah basically! its got a similar alloy to Zildjian's B20, so far many people who prefer Zildjian sounds, 602 might be the closest you'll get to that in Paiste's lineup.

The reason I ask is i want a 18 or 20 inch cymbal for long sustain! Either a Paiste or Zildjian just for my home fun use! I guess I'll go to the Hollywood Guitar Center and try those two cymbals out. Don't know if a Crash or Ride cymbal has more sustain!

Agree. The way I see it, the 602's were a "poor-man's 2002's", and the Big Beats are a "poor-man's Zildjian K Constantinople's". I say that due to the similar tone partially as a result of the manufacturing hand-hammered method. I prefer the Big-Beats to the 2002's. Warmer tone, lower pitched, more controlled sound, more shimmer, more versatile. The 2002's are a bit "splashy" for me, if you know what I mean, which is strange since generally the 2002's weigh more than the Big Beats of equivalent size.

@@Corbrwl I agree totally Billy, I just bought a set of Big Beats. They are just music to my ears. I love the Shimmer, with the short decay. I have always liked thinner cymbals, so the combo of thinner and bigger is just a perfect marriage for me. My first love has always be Signature. But these Big Beats seem to fit me like a glove.

Well, at the end it is only a question of taste. But to your comment I want write some points: Paiste before the B8 used also B20, first with the Sound Formula 602 cymbals, later with the twenty series (even if produced in Turkey and only finally checket in Switzerland). Maybe your "error" in your youth was to chose 2002 instead of Formula 602. I can also understand your point that you feel better with B20 cymbals and the much darker, warmer sound than a B8. For years - as a Sabian Boy - I chosed the HH serie (played also some Avedis and K's) and played also Rock with them. But we have also to confirm: you can also make with B20 higher sounding cymbals (Avedis or ACustoms...or AA and AAX) and one point is important: Paiste is able to make great sounding cymbals with B8 but Zildjian and Sabian with the B8 - expect some cymbals of the B8Pro series - generally made only worst cymbals. I have to say: for years I played B20 and I always hated Paiste and in great part this 2002 series (the red label was horror for me)... but in the last years, listen to more and more music, more and more cymbals... I am a fan of the 2002 and Paiste and now I am on the point - after more than 35 years - to change my complete setup and switch in big part to Paiste. For the moment I use a 18 black label 2002 crash, and for today I am awaiting a red label thin crash of 2002. I just cannot say how the way will go.

The Formula 602 alloy and the 2002 B20 Bronze work so perfectly together. Paiste have nailed this down!

I've played PAISTE since 1979 and before I heard the actual way to pronounce it I pronounced it Pay-stee. As in tasty. 44 years later, I'm still pronouncing it PAY-STEE. At the age that I'm at, I'm not going to change.
