I grew up in an Eichler when my family purchased and lived in one from 1963 until about 1975 (in Palo Alto, CA). The original features and design were amazing, and I've been trying to retrofit some of those characteristics into each of the houses I've lived in since. Original Eichler homes had radiant heated floors that provided amazing comfort (even though there wasn't any insulation in the exterior walls), and the flat roofs with clerestory windows kept the interiors bright and open. Amazing houses - thanks for carrying on this unique design with modern interpretations.

Originals were post & beam construction, which allowed for truly open concept. I'm not an architect, but I've heard that today's building codes don't permit expansive post & beam residence construction (not sure why).

Love the floors. I would change them from the originals too. Don’t use a galley kitchen and make the bedrooms bigger.

I'm not trying to be negative, I look at house design because I do a lot of work in a large remodel (7200sqft.) There are some things that really stand out as poor design here. Pillars coming down from the ceiling to the floor really effects the flow of the room in a bad way IMO. The rest is minor, the house is in many ways very appealing otherwise.

Yea, the bedrooms in Eichler homes are painfully small. Few people today want to live in a child-sized MBR.

Eh. Too much concrete in the hardscaping. Needs more landscaping.
