In this video we'll be looking into Ei's backstory, her connections with her friends and family, the tragic past that shaped her views on Eternity and how with Yae's help, she's learning to accept that the events of the past should not dictate the future.
At 00:28 I say that Makoto taught the people the art of swordsmithing due to this line from Treasured Tales of the Chouken Shinkageuchi: "It is said that when Narukami came to her people, she brought with her the knowledge of crafting swords." where Makoto is referred to as Narukami Gongen and the True Shogun where Ei is called her kagemusha but Ei tells us: "The Inazuman arts of polearm and sword combat, as well as the blade-forging process itself, primarily originated with me. " so it's likely the author of the book is mistaking Ei for Makoto due to them being twins.

Kudos for unbiased narrative! Unlike most of the fandoms that either severely blame her or blindly simping her. Thanks for covering the most misunderstood characters. I also agree with the video regarding the wanderer. He just misunderstand what his mother do to him. Ei’s act wasn’t entirely justifiable, she has flaw here and there, but that’s exactly why i like her the most among other archon, including Nahida. The point i meet her for the first time, i decide to pledge loyalty to her, and i never regret that decision ever since.

Man Ei ironically became my favorite archon for several reasons. First off, much like Venti and Zhongi, she has a very sad backstory however, it is more expanded within the actual Inazuma arc and in both of her character quests, meaning I can care more about her. Not only that, but at first I thought I wasn't going to like Ei in the beginning, but it was thanks to knowing her backstory for a bit as well as getting to know the real her that I really grew to like her. Plus, this girl fought her robot clone in her version of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and finally got to say good bye to her sister which was a very sweet sendoff. And to top it all over, while it was the puppet that did the deed, Ei did waste Signora off the map, which made me super happy because of all of the Bullshit she was doing with easily taking Venti's Gnoisis and Zhongi's due to a damn contract. It just felt like poetic justice and while they do have her Gnoisis, best part is that Ei doesn't really care and she is not with Celestia anymore, meaning it COULD be useless in their hands. Finally, she is just a cute Goof and I love her for that and both of her VAs are fantastic! Overall soild look into Ei as always!

Unless you mean across multiple language versions, all of English Raiden's voice lines were voiced by the same voice actress! This includes the Raiden Puppet, Raiden Ei, and Raiden Makoto.

@@Crusader050 I know that all of the English work were done by the same English VA but I was specifically talking about both her English and Japanese voice actresses. I don't really listen to any of the other character's other languages other than those main two as those are the ones I focus the most.

I hope there’s a quest where Ei gathers with Miko, Sara and Itto where she realizes her friends’ memories also pass through them. Hence, that is also a form of eternity and she has some newfound friendships again. Bonus: also an update where the entire Inazuma is renovated and no longer has deserted islands

I'd really enjoy that too, I feel like a common threat would be good to bring them together, maybe the Water Dragon finally reviving though that might be a bit too extreme as I'm not sure even Ei would be able to take something like that on without any other archons to back her up.

Inamuza's archon quests gets alot of shade for trying alot of nuance with backstory, lore, politics and theology. Most players clicking past all the text just summed it up to: Ei is a boss fight, Ei = Bad. Any one trying to explain the story in defence was called a Simp. I'm so happy to see channels like this do breakdowns for those with low attention spans. To this day, Ei is still my favorite Archon because of how its a story of dealing with war trauma. I have a theory that because she could tell how the Sacred Sakura Tree wasn't there original, her plane of euthymia protect her from changes in irminsul to a unknown degree. Maybe not as perfect as the traveler but more protection that other Archons who are subsuptable to changes in the timeline.

i love Ei/Raiden Shogun, and wanted to understand her lore. And this is the best video ive seen on it! Thank you!! It actually made me emotional listening to it, Ei suffered so much loss. Its such a great story.. i imagine how epic an anime of it would be

I'm glad you liked it! Her story really is so tragic, that choice of saving her sister or keeping her promise to protect Inazuma only to find she got there too late to save her anyway is heartbreaking. I'd love for that in the anime, they really should explore the stuff we've heard of but haven't seen, I don't even care if it's not in any sort of order haha

I really did try to read and understand the Inazuma archon quest but I got really confused cause twins were involved, and also time traveling. I thought I was really dumb that I couldn’t comprehend the story on a deeper level. However, I was able to grasps the Sumera Archon quest easily. There was also body doubles and sci fi aspects to Sumeru but it all made sense. So I don’t know if Inazuma was written too weirdly but my theory is that the quest started out with too much side stories that had no connection to the story so it was info overload for an already complicated story. Like we didn’t need the Kamisato and Captain of Swordfish plot. While Sumeru did make you run all over the place, answering riddles and meeting a shit ton of characters, they all felt cohesive.

@@TheLaughingManLore Hmm, I think they're different, Kanna Kapatcir is a thunder eagle, while Oz is a raven, so basically different species. Also, Kapatcir can be considered to be an Archon candidate just like Orobashi

you forgot too mention two important things that still confuses people 1. raiden and shogun are no name`s they are titles, like the title president or captain. the ruff translation for raiden shogun is lightning or thunder emperor depends on the lore you take for it. 2. the puppet never ever got an actual name, thats why she is allways called shogun ( translation emperor )( the title ). 3. bonus point : nowone exept the traveler and miko knows that makoto is dead, thats why everyone else calls her baal, and everyone that could tell the difference is long dead, on top of that comes that not even gods or other arcons like venti or zhongli know that baal is dead, because they never talked too the shogun after makotos death. so they call her baal because they just don`t know that the shogun they knew is no more. 4. bonus extra point : not even miko knew makoto, the only people left in this world that we know of that knew makoto`s character, talked too her and experienced her for themselves are, ei, zhongli and venti ( but these two don`t even know that she is dead ) knowone else.

Sasayuri was the Great Tengu of Yougou 2000 years ago and died in the war against Orobashi, Reizenbou was the Great Tengu of Yougou 500 years ago that locked herself away for failing to protect Saiguu during the Cataclysm. Hope that clears things up!

So I didn't understand. Are Raiden, Raiden Shogun, Baal and Ei different people? And which of them is whose puppet? Which one of them died? Who rules in the end? Who was sitting on the carpet with dead friends in the trailer and what kind of girl with an umbrella then disappeared?

Haha yeah it can get a bit confusing. Raiden Makoto's archon name was Baal and she ruled Inazuma as the Raiden Shogun in the past. Ei's archon name is Beelzebul but Makoto and Ei were thought to be the same god as they were twins. When Makoto died, Ei became the current Raiden Shogun and created the Shogun puppet as new a body for herself that wouldn't decay and could rule Inazuma in her place while she meditated in her inner realm. So Ei is the ruler but lets the puppet deal with things mostly. Ei is the one sitting on the carpet with her friends and Makoto is the one with the umbrella. Hope that helped explain things a bit clearer.

Its because that almost inazumans only know there is only one electro archon and since Makoto has the title of the archon and 'Baal', inazumans knew her and only her, some of the inazumans knew ei and Ei means shadow and shes the kagemusha of the current (old) electro archon so like Ei has now her sister's title without inazumans knowing that their "current" god that goes to khaenri'ah without telling the kagemusha has died or people just doesn't know her name

I think it's because of Zhongli calling her Baal before when he told us about her. Then got used of calling her Baal, even after knowing she's Ei. And probably because they're too lazy to read.

Haha np, Ei is the Raiden Shogun but she uses the puppet as her body. People call the body Raiden Shogun and Ei Ei just to differentiate the two as I don't think the body has a real name of her own.

@@reptile6059 raiden shogun is just an title like president an title is, this is not an actual name. the shogun puppet never actualy got an name. the real shogun was makoto and makoto was baal after makotos death her twin sister ei took over the shogun title. nowone outside of inazuma knows that baal is dead, just two people know, and these two are miko and the traveller knowone else, not even other arcons or gods. and on top of that everyone that could tell the difference between makoto and ei in inazuma are all long dead. just venti and zhongli could tell if baal is dead but they never meet the shogun after makotos ( baal ) death. if they would talk too ei they would know that the shogun they know is no more. but they didn`t in all these years after her death. and that is the reason these two old arcons call ei baal, because they think it is makoto. and thats why people on the internet calls ei baal because they just skipped the dialouge and never realised that she is not baal.

It was Orobashi's general Akuou who seems to have killed Sasayuri but since he was riding Orobashi at the time, both of them were taken out by Ei's attack.

@@TheLaughingManLore yeah, this makes me all the more curious to find out the other names, and tbh even more interesting is that all hypostasis have angel names, like Alef, Beth, Gimel and so on which are practically letters of the hebrew alphabet that all together spell "god"....lol u just got another theory😅

@@CunnyRadishElf Oh god the hypostases haha, I didn't know they spelt out "god", how strange! I remember a while back looking into them I got the idea they were people that sort of ascended into elemental forms like Signora controlling fire without a Vision but a few steps further. No idea if that's a totally crazy thought as the stuff surrounding them gave me a headache and I left the idea unfinished haha.

@@TheLaughingManLore yeah, it's quite normal for genshin theories to give u headaches, its like the more u search into genshin lore and details the more real life and religion things u'll find out, and if all those details haven't been put into the game by random chance then it shows just how much the devs have dedicated to the game and to whatever deeper meaning it holds by adding those details🤓😅

I’ve got to know how everyone appears to just excuse her for ruining so many lives without batting an eye. Aside from her political and economical death grip on her people, she literally stole 100 visions that harmed those victims directly and those people near them. It’s the reason I came to this video to see how people just seem to absolutely fall for this dictator. They make everything about her into some adorable goof, despite her ruthless actions to so many.
