I never even realized that my childhood favorite manga Ginga Nagareboshi Gin was published in Weekly Shonen Jump or that Yoshihiro's drawing style was largely affected by his mentor. If you look at the way Yoshihiro Takahashi draws humans it's exactly the same as Hiroshi Motomiya's. What an amazing and informative video, definitely subscribing.

Ya know, fellow manga fan. I learned a lot more from you (even as a manga historian who worships jump to no end). Like I did videos on Three of Jump's biggest genres that pretty much defined the publication (Battle, Sports, and Gag). Jump nostalgia in Japan is very much strong (hits like Dragon Ball, Fist of the North Star, Captain Tsubasa, and Kinnikuman took risks and got rewarded for it). Like Kochikame could have gone on until the author died (in theory), but a perfect 40 years is just another risk that Osamu Akimoto Took and ran with (the series lasting so long was one risk, but it was another risk for a slot of the publication to be cut for another mangaka's work was another, just look at Dragon Ball and Slam Dunk, them leaving the anthology was a gamble, yet it kind of was necessary). If Dragon Ball were to last for even into the new millennium, Then it might not have had as been as fun or as influential as something like Hokuto no Ken, or Kinnikuman had been the decade earlier. If Slam Dunk went on to one last basketball match or two for another few years, it would get a bit stale and just be a Basketball Manga that hogged another slot for another sports manga (we wouldn't have the ultra successful Prince if Tennis. You need to fail in order to succeed, and That's what Jump Showed, Like Dr. Slump after a 4 year, 18 volume successful tenure ended in 1984, but Dragon Ball became eons more successful (even after some doubt in the first year or two in it's run). Even Manly head hitters like Sakigake!! Otokojuku and Hokuto no Ken didn't come before their respective author's Shiritsu Kiwamemichi Kōkō and Tetsu no Don Quijote. Both were cancelled after less than a year (with Shiritsu Kiwamemichi Kōkō at least getting decent millage before controversy stroke). Masumi Kurumada's Ring ni Kakero was no slouch exception either, especially when Kurumada made Fuma no Kojiro, that was successful, but short lived, and Otokozaka was an Uber Failure. Kurumada released the Merchandising Juggernaut Saint Seiya in 1986, and would continue giving Jump new Female readership (even during and after Captain Tsubasa's (which gave the Publication it's most successful Sports Manga up to that point. Defeating baseball manga week to week and having the young Tsubasa Oozora grow up with new tournaments, even after the initial run) Climactic Final tournament as well as getting the female audience into battle manga, a trend that continues today). As far as Gag Manga... it's all over the place for the 50+ years it's been with Jump, but the reason Jump became so magnificent and so popular was that it took risks, While it's nowhere as evident today as it was in the 80s or 90s, it still shows in several forms, not just putting Dragon Ball in Ninja or Pirate scenarios, but it shows in creating trends, getting new Mangaka a platform where anyone can be successful as such (even as former assistants to old series (like Fist of the North Star's Tetsuo Hara gave way to Masanora Morita's Rokudenashi Blues, and City Hunter's Tsukasa Hojo gave way to Takehiko Inoue's Slam Dunk)), and (as I said before) shifting series all these years.

I'd never even heard about that one mangaka you kept mentioning that everyone looked up to (as you can probably tell since I don't even remember his name), though I did know about Otoko Ippiki Gaki Daishou since I'm doing a bit of a Jump readthrough (from oldest to newest) of all the available manga I can find. Sadly that one wasn't available, but I remember being particularly disappointed about it.

My favorite era of Jump is definitely the 2000s. That's when the magazine was in its prime. So many great series came out and were still going on. One Piece, HxH Greed Island and Chimera Ant Arcs, Naruto, Bleach, Gintama, Hitman Reborn, Jojo Stone Ocean and Steel Ball Run, Bobobo, Strawberry 100%, Death Note, D Gray Man, Toriko, Bakuman, the list goes on. There was so much diversity in the series and even each shonen felt so different from each other. Now it feels... eh. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Black Clover, Dr. Stone, and The Promised Neverland, but it just doesn't feel as grand of a magazine as it once did. Now One Piece is just kinda running the show and has been ever since the other 2 of the big 3 have ended.

Anime/manga at 11:25?????

I have been watching few videos of yours and i love the content, it is full of something that i didn't know and new to me. I love manga and want to know the history of shonen juml in general. But.....(sorry there's a "but" here) I don't know how to say it but i felt like your video lack of something. It's not about the length of the video but with how you presented the content in your video. Sometimes while watching your video, i didn't know what are you talking about even though i am really focused on watching your video. I need to rewind it little bit to know what the hell are you talking about. It just felt bit lack of focus?? And you are also talking non-stop(in a very monotone voice) which means there are no break for the viewer for breathing. Maybe the lack of the break between each sub-topic made me hard to focus on your video. IMO sometimes the sub-topic changes too fast that i didn't know what the video is trying to say. My favorite youtube about manga/anime came from eyepatched wolf channel. IMO your video have the same level of quality content, however the way you presented it, was not engaging. It is like watching a lecture video. The monotone tone also didn't help. There are also a comment down below to turn it into 1,25x speed, so i know i am not the only one who has problem with that. I wish you could fix it. I love the content of your video, but i felt it is bit lacking in some area. I wish you really improve the way you make your video. I really don't know how to make the best video, however i am just presenting my opinion as a viewer. Your content is superb and deep, i want to see more of your video. However, i think this channel could do better. P.S. i think you should check eyepatched wolf channel, because your channel is bit similiar but he has better way of presenting it to audience. Btw i don't know why but i also think this video is better to be turned into a book/article

Love the video seriously, I don't like criticism but it is necessary to become better, I think personally your speaking too slowly and it really doesn't sound natural as if your pronouncing everything with emphasis and it comes off as forced. Other than that honestly great video love your editing, the format just the video in general was fun to watch keep doing what your doing

Honestly, this has to be the best video i've stumbled across all year. I've read manga for 13 or so years, and I agree that modern manga does lack originality, and it is rather boring.. For the most part, I've pretty much resorted to non-Japanese manga because of it. I draw manga as a hobby, and i'm in the process of making a story about my culture (Maori/NZ), because the knowledge is unknown to the world. Also I am a weeb.

Yoshihiro Togashi 's " Hunter x Hunter all time best manga i think. Infact the art is'nt good but the unique charecter design complex story and the change. Which I think the best of all time.
