In this episode we go over Zimbabwe's brief but interesting camouflage history with an emphasis on their updated version of the Rhodesian Brushstroke pattern simply referred to as Zimbabwean Brushstroke.

I was once held at gun point at the Zimbabwe border for breaking the no camo law. I had some DPM style cargo shorts. First time entering the country via a road border, nearly shat myself.

Hey man, I love the channel but If could request on thing; it would be thoroughly better if you could talk about the 'cuts' and design of the uniforms not just the camo pattern

Good idea, I feel like that might be a whole 'nother ballpark when it comes to research though, because sometimes these things can vary quite a bit within a country.

We tried it out a bit with MCCUU and ACU but found it a bit distracting from the main topic and added a bit to the research and editing process. The plan is to do dedicated videos on specific cuts and then cover any kind of deviations or variations in supplemental videos. For example we're planning a CCU video in which the cut is gonna be talked about and its significance in the transition from BDU to ACU.

It is common for countries to ban civilians wearing Army uniform. Singapore also banned civilian wearing Army uniform after some criminals impersonal Army personal to do unlawful activities. Singapore neighbor country, Malaysia, even have a Hollywood style raid in one of its Army camp, where the terrorists dress up as high ranking Army officers, trick their way into an Army camp and manage to get their hands on military weapons. The method used by the terrorists to get their way into the Army camp have so much similarity with the Hollywood movie "The Rock", it will really shock you.

Malaysian here, I’ve seen a lot of uncles wear the actual Malaysian tigerstripe camo. Seems like the authorities don’t really care all that much as long as you keep it hush hush. However they will reprimand you if you wear the full uniform and/or try to impersonate

The motorbike helmet thing isn't exactly new for Zimbabwe/Rhodesia, paratroopers back in Rhodesia used a lot of motorcycle helmets during the war.

Could you do the history of the Brazilian lizard camo? You mentioned that lizard style uniforms were common in Africa, and also used by Portugal, so I imagine there is an influence there.

You should do an MTP video or ROK Armed forces one. If I'm not mistaken, the ROK Army/Navy/Air Force all use the same pattern except with different name tapes, and the ROKMC has a distinctive pattern that looks like the USMC's experimental tiger stripe MARPAT

@Uniform History can you do some videos on the JSDF Japan Self Defense Forces like camo, weapons, uniforms, utilities, vehicles etc. Please I would love to see the videos you can do with those. Love your work and your videos they teach me more about what the uniforms are about and Sense I work on a US Air Force Base in AZ it helps me to tell what some of the other country military are and what there Wearing and can do and with some of there military history that they find it cool that I know all about them and what they do because of you videos 🇺🇸🇯🇵🇺🇸🇯🇵

Fuzzy Dunlop EE-9 Cascavel, from Brazil. The influence the M8 Greyhound has on the design is quite prominent, given that Brazil operated the Greyhound and quite liked it. In fact, the first versions used the M8 Greyhound turret, although later versions would feature a Cockerill 90mm Cannon.

An early variant with wood handguards by the looks of them.

Maybe they are SETME or Cetme rifles used by Spain. The Germans based the G3 off of them.

@@slappymacracky yep me too! There is both a more urban (grayish) and country (green brown )version I believe. It looks like the was based on multicam, flecktarn(which was found to aggressive by the military when in trials ) and it looks similar to some russian camo I think
