Ok so, the movie is called The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, so you should be expecting it to center around Sonya (the hitman's wife). As far as the girlfriend from the last movie, she never actually took him back in that movie. Sure they reconciled his unjust hatred of her, but if I were her I would not have gone back to that mess of a man - especially one miserable about his AAA status still (and if you need a further reason, she obviously was not able to get his status back like she said she would.) He did loose his triple A status in the first movie, so I'm not sure why you think that was retconned. He can be a normal bodyguard without being licensed as AAA. No one knew Darius killed Kurosawa until that movie, so the review board was reviewing the incident post the last film. But all this really doesn't matter that much for this type of silly action film - I'm just pointing these things out because it's as easy to justify as complain about. Also Bryce, while more emotionally insecure than the last film, is still competent and still frustrated with the bonkers actions of the other two, so I don't think it's actually that big of a character shift. All that said, while I think the first movie is slightly better, the second one is funnier, and most people I know enjoy it more. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

The writer of this movie changed the plot from the last one like it is barely any inconvenience. Overall it's still a fun movie if you don't question the continuation plot from the previous movie. As Kincaid once said in the first movie (funfact) "Sh*t happens." "“When life gives you sh*t, you make Kool-Aid”"

both films should center around the bodygaurd hence both titles. ryans character is the lead. they made him a side character in this film and took away the di ynamic between ryan and sam. further more retconned the arc the two had from the first film. yes its fun but senseles fun this time.

They complained about the lack of GF because there was no mention of her. I guarantee if they had killed her off screen or a one liner about breakup, neither would have any problem. The movie acting like she didn't exist is the problem, and it's been pointed out countless times across the internet when the movie came out. Look at Ted 2 and how they randomly replaced the love interest between movies, after the first movie was about them saving their relationship. It's barely criticized because they explained why they broke up between movies. If you don't want to hear criticisms about your favorite movies, you probably shouldn't watch reaction channels.

Yes it is lacking interaction with Ryan and Samuel but it increased the interaction with Selma and Ryan and that is which is the driving the plot this time. They didn't want to do the same movie but rather make a ridiculous one staring the trio vs Morgan and Antonio. Poetry.

Sequels are never as good as the original because surprise (new) usually beats expectations (desires / wants). For this series, the primary story is the client, Hitman to Wife. Per the title, this is Salma's movie. Ryan kept getting knocked out for the romance arc, otherwise it would have been either a voyeur or polyamory movie.

Except that's now how the first movie worked. Both the Hitman and the Bodyguard got significant character development and backstory. Now it makes sense that Salma's character gets more character development and backstory, but it doesn't make her the subject of the film. That's why we open on Ryan's character and get more backstory for him. I think they're wrong for expecting only Hitman/Bodyguard interactions, but the comment section is wild for thinking this is solely the Wife's movie.
