THE HKC55. FESTOOLS track saw that almost Got IT RIGHT! But falls short on just about everything.

after 3 years of ownership and being my most used track saw, I dish on what I love what I hate and why I use this saw every day but still want to throw it off a bridge. Am I asking to much? you be the judge.

Literally all of my complaints about the HKC are mentioned in this video. The only thing I would add is that the splinter guards don’t seem to last long before they start to get torn up from the thin kerf blade deflecting. It also happens on the Mafell kss40 and 60 I have though. It’s too bad you can’t get Mafell there in Canada it’s definitely better than the HKC. I’ve wanted to sell my HKC since I got my kss60 but the resale is so low and unfortunately I bought all 3 rail sizes and several blades so I’d rather it collect dust in my shop than sell it for a huge loss. Maybe in a year or two the price will get hiked up so much I won’t lose as much on the resale market 😆

I had to cut off a piece of the splinter guard while making this video because cutting on a bevel caused it to grab the loose end. 😂

I hear you, I agree with you, but I still use it, just like you. I recently bought the TS60, and no longer need to swap blades. Both saws are compatible with FSK rails. I use the HKC only for cross cuts in framing/renovations. For ripping, plywood and MDF I use the TS60.

Thank you for sharing your everyday experience. I just got the corded one. I'm surprised by how heavy it is compared to the TS55. I didn't have a first good impression. It may take some time to get used to.

Festool should increase the size for the blade a litle bit. and the 45 angle problem will be fix. I did a lot of deck stringers and I was fast and accurate.

Could you put a 165mm dewalt blade on it??? Thinking about getting one but if it dosent go through a 4x2 on 45 what’s the point!!!

I had the mafell kss50 that had the same problems. It got stolen so because off the price I bought the hkc 55 about 750 cheaper here. 1 thing I like more about the hkc is the weight. Mafell was real heavy for 1 hand use. I also have the battery tracksaw of mafell 2021 model and the new tsc 55 from Festool. Dust collection is much better on the mafell. I like the tracks better and the features. Butt still and I don’t know why, when I have to do a few cuts i always take out the Festool.

Try taking better care of your tools I bet they will start working better.

@@86ConstructionContracting KSS 55 has a cutting dept of 42mm at 45° on the track, and so does the HKC 55. There is nothing wrong with the saw, only the user🙄

Don't get me wrong. It's my most used tracksaw. But if I could buy a mafell I would. It has so many uses that it's become invaluable. I just wish to see an improved version.for my market.

Read the rest of the comments the vast majority of people who own this saw feel the same way. It's great if you disagree I'm happy for you. I wish the rest of the users felt the same way. I won't take up anymore of your time I'm sure you have some green cool aid waiting for you

No issues with mine cutting red oak along 9 feet of track. I haven't used it on anything like wet PT lumber though.

@@thomaskehoe1473 it's OK sometimes if you have a very sharp blade and the right type of blade. It's the most gutless 18v saw on the market and most expensive. Festool. Pay more get less.

You’re exactly right on cutting 2x material on a 45. Festool always cut 2x4’s, and it barely gets through those but try cutting a 2 x 10 or 2 x 12 with a little cup and it’s woefully short of making it all the way through. I sold mine after a couple of weeks. My biggest disappointment in Festool.
