Is there any episode that this 'experienced antique dealer' actually makes some good money for the hoarders. He always seems to let everything go for so low because he goes to the wrong places, or give it to auction when he said one item he saw going for 150 pounds. It always feels like he is on the wrong end of the deal.

Indeed, and i've seen this auction house multiple times now. It doesn't really scream "money"....

Do you this they have time to shag around getting the best dollar possible? The filming time per show will be tight. The owner of the junk hasn't tried their best to sell them either. Your comment just indicate how easy it is to get into this mess. "Everything has value" No it doesn't.

i'd suspect him of buying the stuff back & flogging it else where for more money...wouldnt trust a 'professional' dealer an inch...take your stuff to several dealers, same as plumbers etc, get recommendations from friends, get several quotes.. do your own research online first..

@@lucyw.7597 of course in a normal situation. This is a TV show. They will be in town for hours with limited filming time to set up at another dealers. They want 1 and done and move on. It's not a real situation with selling at all.

Watching these shows has given me the motivation to clear out some stuff. I'm not a hoarder...well, maybe a little bit. Yesterday I cleaned out most of my kitchen stuff I was hanging onto but didn't need and I still have one or two more cabinets to go through plus I want to clean my refrigerator. I threw out everything that I wasn't going to eat and that included things like a bottle or two of salad dressing that only had a little bit in them plus some bbq sauce I hadn't used in quite some time. I really don't have that much food in my frig and pantries. I live alone and don't buy a lot of stuff. This morning after breakfast I went into my bedroom and cleared out a couple of drawers in my chest of drawers. Those were things I didn't wear any longer or didn't fit. I still have a lot. My clothes closet is next and it isn't very large so it won't take long. I have a thing about winter clothes, jackets, hats and boots. I live in a state where it's cold in the winter like it is now. Almost all of my winter stuff was gently used so I didn't have to pay full price. I much prefer boots that are already broken in. My long wool coat was purchased on PoshMark and it was like brand new when I got it. My favorite coat. If you have a habit of hanging onto things, keep watching these videos. They will motivate you a lot!!!

When will Curtis ever learn that dealers pay as little as possible? £55 for the camera collection is a pittance but the narrator acts like "it's a good start", blanket positive statements mean little. When I sold at auction I had table after table of stuff and I made real progress. This show loves to paint a Rosy 🥀🥀🥀 picture 👴

To be honest though there is a couple different hoarders shows here in Britain depending on the severty of the hoard....these are pretty clean hoarders on this show & kinda more like collectors....where as we have shows that have hoarders that can barely just walk through their house & those are the ones that don't make money on their items & just concentrate on letting it go. The American hoarder shows iv seen are actually some of the worst iv ever seen (i feel sorry for them) its just pure rubbish mostly...though I haven't explored many hoarders shows from America 😁✌

I’m in the states and these shows are more along the lines of American pickers. Junkers or collectors. The American hoarders show is more about people that seem to have a mental condition like ocd or depression where they can’t get rid of 6 y/o peanut butter because they might need it! When it comes down to it you have to decide if it’s better to spend time finding the just right price for your collections or take a lower price to get it gone!

anyone who pays 150£ for an 8 mm is an idiot. Even in their day, they weren't for serious film makers. My Dad had a 16MM and my mom was willing to buy me my own but the sales person talked her out of a 16 mm for me even tho I had used Dad's. The 8 was a joke if you wanted to do anything more than the kids' birthday parties.

What the!? That little cabinet the daughters were "cleaning" I have to say (and not trying to be rude but) they did a pretty shoddy job of cleaning it. There was still crumbs in the bottom and dust all over the place let alone you can see where the shelves were but when the antique guy took it to the sales dude the shelves magically disappeared!?! 38:24=time stamp, when the girls were cleaning it the shelves were clearly in there?!🤔

These hosts are just wasting program time. The hoarders just want to be on TV. If they want to clear the clutter, they should be emptying each room, and putting the items in an open space (back yard or front yard, and sorting the items for resale/auction, keep, charity, and trash. Moving the items around in the room, is not accomplishing the task. At the end of the episode, they still have clutter in the house.
