I think we can't play Bruno and Eriksen together as they do not not provide enough defensive pressure/support which makes the backline vulnerable. Our passing looks crap and I put it down to ETH and the lack of playstyle by the team. Players not knowing how to run into good passing positions when in possession leading to many unnecessary turnovers.

I agree The only problem is that we have had the same issues when Bruno and Mount play together. It's the same result. It tells this is on Ten Hag and his game plan/tactics. Playing a single pivot and two nr eights/tens is gung-ho football and leaves a big gap in the middle of the ground.

@@Bole77 I agree too. Why commit 6-7 players attacking when we can't even string 3 passes together? Our attackers are also poor at tracking back. We were a 50% possession team that is good at counter attack under Ole. Despite spending 400M under ETH, we are still that. Our recruitment has been poor to say the least.

Strongly agree, that was my first worry when i saw eriksen, i maybe know why ( counterattack ball distribution man utd waited for counter attacks ) understand ETH's decision but it cost us a lot.

Apart from the huge gaps between our midfield and defensive line issues I think for the second goal Evans could have done better to prevent the goal and it’s becoming clearer that set pieces are becoming a huge problem for us to defend. Against Village we conceded 2 goals and yesterday against Spurs it could have easily been 2 or 3 goals too

So Spot on. The most amazing of facts in all of this is that Ten Hag and his technical team are sitting there watching this EVERY WEEK. EVERY WEEK!!! How can they not see this?? What exactly are they working on in training? Do they even do this sort of analysis? 2 defensive midfielders is absolute key. Absolute KEY. We need both no more than 10 yards apart from each other and in front of a compact back 4. I think though that Martinez back in this team is huge for our ball retention. We also definitely need to have the discussion about moving on from Bruno. We need something different. Something that looks a bit like Bernardo Silva. And specifically a left footer. A proper play maker that is comfortable in possession and making simple passes. My kingdom for a player like the Brazilian Alex, the Fenerbache Legend.

It's also good to add on a proper play maker like B. Silva, but the main issues is about organisig into defense after loosing possession that's why we have conceded easy goals this season, that's our main disaster to solve

The problem with our passing in possession is United players wait for the ball to feet, instead of moving to the ball. How does ten Hag keep doing this, midfield can’t keep pinging the ball forward, passes end up short, intercepted or over pass. To put it frank, it’s not sustainable. Poor Mainoo is a 1 man marauding midfield, he is 18, ffs.. ten Hag solution is to replace Eriksen with McTominay every bloody time and exasperate the issues in midfield. Something has to give, and I am afraid ten Hag keeps selling himself short. He can’t be this shortsighted.

Hopefully we get to see Casemiro and Mainoo playing together pretty soon. That should at least provide some defensive stability in the midfield.

Brighton play Groß and gilmour as their deep midfielders and sometimes a 38 year old milner, yet brighton are able to control games with and without the ball, much better than man united. It is clear this is a structural/tactical issue rather than a personnel issue. Even with casemiro and martinez coming back, i see nothing changing.

Thanks for your great insight, the team is still lacking a lot of the game aspects, erratic passing. Let's hope Erik will play two defensive midfielders Cassa & Mainoo something which it seems he doesn't want to. Bruno is just allover the pitch and can't hold the ball, Erikisen is disciplined but age is catching up with him. Still miles away from perfection.

Excellent analysis. I also like AJAnalysis' recent analysis where Jeff explains that the system is being tweaked too much between games and the players are unable to deliver with limited understanding of the system tweaks. For example, the long pass attempts you talk about by Dalot, switching out Ericcson for McTominay completely changing their roles.

I saw Rashford strolling around when we lost possession in the 1st half on more than one occasion I believe ETH gives such instructions but the players don't implement them. There is no way ETH will tell Rashford to be strolling around the pitch in the opponents half when he has lost the ball. That becomes cumulative set of errors which eventually lead to us conceding. ETH will get sacked at some point and in a way 50% of the reason will be the signings he made in his second season and the injuries that came up. But some substitutions and tactics he made have not really helped him. one of the wrong decisions is always reserving certain players during the press, you have to go for the full press because once you attempt to press and your press gets beat or it's not systematic then you are in trouble.. either press or do not press. I have always wondered what the manutd players have been doing during training sessions passing is such a challenge. We don't know what we are up to. It is so pathetic and disgusting to watch

As sad as it is to say,and without agenda,the best game we played as a team with ETH’s tactics was the game that Rashford and Bruno were not in the team. Having 2 ‘luxury’ players puts too much stress on the rest to cope for now. But the hole has been dug with Rashford’s huge contract and Bruno’s captaincy. ETH has his work cut out for him.

Referring to the Liverpool game I assume? You're probably right about it being one of the better games this season. My issue is that ETH can play better football WITH Bruno and Rashford but he cant manage it ATM...

I would love to see Bruno and rashford play well under ETH! But what do you think he needs to do to make Bruno stay positionally disciplined and Rashford to track back? Do you think he’s telling Rashford to stay up and not defend so that the counter is on? If that’s the case,then is it time for us to talk about ETH as a manager? I’m ten hag in cause I believe his attitude and professionalism has been sorely missed in that dressing room. We need a ‘gaffer’ back again to remind us of the standards but it looks like player power will get him sacked once again

I think it is a wrong thing to say we need to get rid of some players and bring a new player to fill up the hole. I think the right way is to make the tactics that work the players we have. Then whatever tactics you want to do….. you train them toward it but if it still too risky, don’t do it. It has been proven again and again that ETH isn’t capable of coaching. Lacking tactical knowledge and man management, only know how to talk big and blaming others.

But I think that’s what ten hag did last year..he realised within 2 games that his tactics wouldn’t work and he altered it to work for the team and it brought success. But this year he feels like he wants to implement his style and for a multitude of reasons it hasn’t worked but he’s continuing to do to either prove a point(that the players aren’t good enough to match his tactics),or he’s cornered himself into it(buying onana & mount) or he’s just really dumb. I’d like to believe it’s not the last one and he seems like a man who’s ready to die with his morals. Either way,I’m kinda happy to have a man like that representing us. I feel like a lot of things have come into the light cause of this. As a fan it hurts of course..but if it leads to better decisions being made down the road,then let’s have it!

Mainoo was played well but Ericksen was not at his best. I think TT mastered Ten Hag's tactics in the midfield

Completely agree. ETH ego worked for us as players battled & won even when we were second best. This year he has gone after signings to create more changes & Completely lost defensive structure. We are neither here or there now. Looks like he tried to copy klopp/pep structure but doesn't have intensity & combination of pace/strength/height to actually make press work

United are playing high press with only a few players and wingers don't help defensively. Of course there will be oceans of space in the midfield. Bruno and Eriksen lacking defensive positioning skills doesn't help either. It will be interesting to see the difference if Casemiro and Mainoo plays together. With these players Ten Hag can never play with two offensive midfielders as he wants and still have a balanced team. That became obvious from the start of the season.

We can never win premier league with players like rashford. Bruno. Eriksen. Anthony. Onana in goal… all this players aren’t good enough to compete. They can’t put in good performance week in week out . And lastly ten hang is just too naive with his signings

The only way ETH ball/tactics will work is if we have wingers who are willing to track back, full backs who can invert effectively, and good/pacy centre backs who can keep a high defensive line(to close the gap between our midfield and defence).

16:43 wouldn't agree with this statement, i have a different interpretation which explains better ETH's train of thought. it's more like we were so focused on taking advantage of the spaces behind spurs because they always try to press hard upfront, that's why he started with Eriksen. don't forget we did create some decent chances and had McTominay scored the narrative would've been different. there was so much mention of how often we lost the ball, but so did spurs and that never got mentioned as if they had a perfect game themselves, which was not the case. that's why it was a chaotic but entertaining game for neutrals, and we managed to create a number of chances more than usual. nevertheless, the end result is the same and 2-2 was a fair result for 2 free falling teams.

@@iwuchukwuizuchukwu5991 sometimes the problem with many channels that focus on Man United is that they're too focused on Man United. This channel does have some good insights but sometimes it's a bit one sided because of being too focused inward. Spurs were the perfect team for us to try to exploit their weakness with our one and only strength, which is to ping balls and get behind defences as early and quickly as possible. It's not a great tactic and sometimes frustrating to see, but theoretically it was expected to work.

We play one 6, one 8, and one 10; we need to play two 6s and one 8, stop with this brittle mid-field. We need to pick 2 of Casemiro, Amrabat, and Mainoo; these are the only 3 players in our mid-field with a defensive mindset. We need two wingers who help out at the back, and instead of always cutting inside, start taking it towards the by-line and put in crosses. Play a simple game and try over / underlapping runs using our full-backs. Ten Hag has got all the transfers this summer wrong, 60M Mount, 50M for Onana, 70M for Hollund, and 80M for Antony. Pelistri is a great right winger who is a right-footed right winger who crosses. We need a simple, fast left-sided winger with a left foot to play a cross. Antony, Rashford, and Bruno all try big passes and go for shots by cutting in. We don't play as a team - I can't accept these players are not good; ten Hag tactics are a bunch of BS.

"Can we play 2 defensive-minded midfielders". Mainoo&Casemiro were never available simultaneously, Casemiro Amrabat had 3 games to cross paths, Mainoo-Amrabat are too lightweight as a pair. That leaves us with Mctominay, Gore, Eriksen. So how do you actually do it? Then look at the available passers of the ball in defence. Shar-Martinez had 2 games together in 30. Dalot can't pass to himself. So if I am the manager, I am thinking: "fuck me! I don't want to lose the ball in my own third. I hate my midfield. Let's just shoot it up and see what happens". I think looking at tactics in a squad with 21 back four combinations in 30 games is taking a piss. We've seen what he can do last season in playing from the back. Wait for his team to come back and you'll see Licha-Shaw-Mainoo progressing the ball to a point where we don't lose it too early and Mainoo-Casemiro defending those transitions

Officially knocked out of the champions league over 4 weeks ago is a sackable offences so EtH knows his chances of staying already! EtH has been the worst Manager at Man Utd for 60 years, we've experienced since SMB. This manager is purposely going out of his way to mess up everything that we stand for so he definitely doesn't deserve to Stay, Win, Draw or Lose on Saturday. Get Rid!

Our passes are very poor. Average at best, no runs into space no tracking back by rashford… most of our players are not consistent which tells why man United as a team isn’t consistent..we need an overhaul of all the players before we can start dreaming again

I'm not trying to blame ETH but, during ole's time when we had a lot of counter attacks. We were never this much clueless on the ball. Even Onana seem to always punt the ball forward at any slight opportunity

I think let's don't blame ten hag on defensive issues coz he has had an inconsistent CDMs with injuries so thats why he parterns Eriksen with mainoo or mactominey so let's wait and be patient as main key men are back now from injuries en wait for a consistent better pattern in midfield i think it's Mainoo en Casemiro

Dalot is by far our best player this season, and he Was great last season. yhear he has bad games and makes the ocational mistake but im alwayse exited when i see nr 20 gets the ball or is going in for a challenge

I don't think we need to play with 2 cdms. We need players to stay in their positions and players who knows how to cover for his team mates. The players in front of the defence line are just all over the place. We should be able to play 433 and not 4231 when we do not have 2 proper cdms.

in an ideal ten hag possession ball team bruno doesnt fit. hes always leaving huge pockets of space en leaves teammates in trouble then starts blaming other players for his mistakes. he tops the chats as the 1st at loosing possession of the ball in the team followed by rashford. always trying to beat an opponent yet there are easier options to give the ball en run into the vacated space. but hes the best option we have since the board cant sell or buy alternatives to the problems we have then how comes mainoo gets what ten hag asks of him but all this other grown up adults dont do what is asked of them??????????

Ten Hag's tactics on both side of the ball are *awful*. *Defence:* 4-4-2, low backline, low intensity press. Worst of both worlds! *Attack:* Every goal kick, in every Utd game seems to end up with our fullbacks near their own corner flag. *Exactly* where a pressing opponent wants them to be. I wouldn't switch manager until the new front office have had a time to bed it, but ETH gets tactically outclasses week-in-week-out

Spurs had a gameplan. But without Lisandro, Mount, Shaw, Casemiro - we were just as depleted as spurs. Even the commentators were acting like spurs was the only shortstaffed team

We can still make top 4 cos the players want it but EtH is the reason why we've lost so many games at the half way point cos he's hanging his players out to dry due poor summer transfers where we want 6 players & only got 3, poor team selection & poor squad usages so his Job is under review. It's best to sell Greenwood at £50M minimum, Sancho at £50M, Mount at £50M, Antony at £40M, Bruno & Maguire at £30M & Lindelof at £20M. Get Rid! We want to recruit Todibo, Onana, Barella, Enciso or Eze & Zirkzee ASAP!

The standards at this club is in the gutter, dalot is not manutd quality, the bar for him is very very low, it's so low that few good actions he does on the pitch is gassed up by this fanbase and they treat him like a Cafu regen, the fellow can't do 8/10 things a full back should do, routinely makes 5 mistakes every game 😂😂, he can't cross, can't defend.. Certainly those who watched players like Cafu, Dennis Irwin who played for us, cannot consider Dalot as the standard, young fans like you might not know what a standard is for a full back, I urge you to go and watch Cafu or even Dennis Irwin play and then decide if dalot is any good 😂😂

Dalot should never get into a United shirt. He has made more errors than all except Bruno. He cannot win a defensive duel & is frequently blindsided by attackers. You ruined your video with that shite!
