With Janet Leigh, Wally Cox, Rose Marie, Shecky Greene, George Maharis, Carl Reiner, Suzanne Pleshette, Buddy Hackett, and Paul Lynde; with the master of the Hollywood Squares, Peter Marshall!
Pretty sure this is from 1972 based on Suzanne Pleshette's hairstyle and "The Paul Lynde Show" being mentioned.

Love Wally...funny actor. 10 years prior to this show, Wally was to have co-starred with Marilyn Monroe and Dean Martin in the ill-fated, "Something's Got To Give"....Production had commenced, but sadly because of delays, etc., and mainly because of Marilyn, the movie was never finished. Even though Marilyn was fired and then later rehired by 20th Century Fox and to begin shooting again in September of 1962, Marilyn tragically passed at 36 on the night of August 4th, 1962....From the footage that was completed, I love the scene with Marilyn and Wally....off camera, Wally could make Marilyn laugh and it's nice to know she had a little bit of fun during a plagued production...The movie was later recast with Doris Day & James Garner and re-titled, "Move Over Darling', and was released in 1963. Not to take away from Doris and James, but I wish Marilyn and Dean's version would have been completed...it would have been a hit at the box office and put Marilyn back at the top.

I knew Cox had passed (around the same time as long time panelist Cliff Arquette (AKA Charlie Weaver); normally Arquette would be in the lower left hand corner where Buddy Hackett is in this episode), but had no idea Cox was only 48 or 49. Sad.

Andrew Padaetz Did you know that Cox was best friends with Marlon Brando from the age of 9 years old? Brando is quoted as joking that if Cox had been a woman, they would have married. Cox's widow gave Brando Wally's ashes and when Marlon died over 3 decades later, some of their ashes were scattered together in the California hills where they enjoyed hiking.

This must have been during the period when Charley Weaver's health began to go downhill, because he always occupied the bottom left square. Less than a year after this was taped, Wally Cox left us. Chuck Woolery's game show "Naturally Stoned" was named after the hit record he had as lead singer of the pop group the Avant Garde in 1968.

This was from the first season of the twice-a-week syndicated nighttime version of "The Hollywood Squares." The only remaining episodes of the original "Jeopardy!" with Art Fleming that still exist in any quantity consist of the entire nighttime syndicated run that debuted at the same time. At least "Squares" was unearthed; I wonder if GSN ever attempted to work out a deal with the current owner of the nighttime "Jeopardy!" to bring it back air.
@markschildberg1667
@markschildberg1667 23 күн бұрын
The one nighttime version of Jeopardy had an odd endgame where the winner could receive $25,000 by finding two halves of that prize chosen at random from a board. This was replaced by a better bonus award based on how high the champion scored.

Keyth Danielsen very sad and unfortunate. Rose Marie said he was a very lonely man and could not be taken seriously in any other acting roles beyond what he was known for.

@@keythdanielsen8316 I've tried to check it out, and although he did drink to excess at times, he left HS because of salary disputes and to have time for other acting projects, which fell through. HS kept asking him to come back and eventually, for enough money, he did.

The Vega was a great looking little car. It's a pity they were such junk. GM could've hit a grand slam with that car, instead they struck out.
