on my top 5 Rush albums. It never got much attention and the record companies and mainstream critics hated it for whatever reason. Great story of Alex playing it for Ace Frehley in there van before it came out and Alex said he didnt get it and wasnt impressed! Then came 2112!!!

I always enjoyed Caress of Steel. Far different than their previous 2 albums. It seemed to be a transition album, preparing us for and leading us into 2112. I put this on when welding or fabricating in my work shop.

Rush, music for thinking people. Neil's later lyrics became more listener friendly. The early stuff is a lot to take in. Neil's lyrics throughout his time with Rush is top-notch, though. As a whole, you are experiencing one, if not the tightest band, every. I've been a fan since 1981. The three men of Willowdale are my three favorite people. Plus John Rutsey. And all the people that have supported them while on tour. And can't forget to thank the families. They had to deal with them away a lot of the early years, and for 40+ years. Love your reactions, my Rush brother. Happy New Year to my Rush brothers and sisters. #rushfamily ❤❤❤

And, to think this was, at the time, a “flop”, and the album that nearly broke them into shattered, scattered pieces, never to be recovered?!? To me, it’s one of the baddest, coolest, maddest progressive songs/albums, ever, that would lay the firm groundwork for what was to come. And, what came next (21 fucking 12) was the springboard to the very future of progressive metal, when they, themselves, said “fuck it”, if we’re going down, we’re going down doing what we believe in & love(.) 🤘🏼 Thank you, Dame! I love your love of this band that has most single-handedly molded my musical journey……

That’s quite a piece to react to. Unbelievable that was 1975 their second album with Neil third as a band. I’m not the biggest Lord of the Rings fan, actually not at all, but if I’m not mistaken, the lyrics were loosely based on a part of that story. They were very ambitious at this point and stayed so throughout their career. Easily one of their best pieces.🤘🖖✌️🎸🎤🥁🎸

If you like to read, I'd suggest starting with the first book in the Lord Of The Rings Saga, "The Hobbit". Then on to the Trilogy, 1. The Fellowship Of The Ring. 2. The Two Towers. 3. The Return Of The King. This story is the gold standard of fantasy. Read the first chapter of The Hobbit, and tell me you don't want to find out what happens next. J.R.R. Tolkien, Literary Genius...

Bytor is a character from a song on the previous album. The song is Bytor and the Snowdog which I would recommend. Bytor was a baddy in the previous song and he is hero in this one. I would also suggest The Fountain of Lamneth which is also off the same album as The Necromancer. It is also excellent I am the same age as the guys in Rush and sci-fi was HUGE back in the 70's especially Lord of the Rings. It was almost a right of passage to read it. Two other songs in the same vein I will also recommend are Cygnus Book one and Cygnus Book 2 (Hemispheres) Love your reactions young man. ❤ Cheers

😂😂😂😂 Since we're all old as Rush members ourselves, we ALL read Lord of The Rings. Award Winning Artist Ralph Bakshi made the first animated Lord of The Rings & The Hobbit Movies we saw as kids. 😂😂😂 We also said if they ever make a Thor Movie, they should pay Led Zep an arm & a leg to use 'The Immigrant Song' & The Who's TOMMY Movie should be made in to a Bway Show. 🤯 ALL CAME TRUE! 🥰🐰

🤔 Necromancer is like 2112, The Cygnus Books, Natural Science ... All multi-part songs. Again, like a Book, you have chapters. 🤗 Having a favorite part of a Rush song changes thru the decades. Reading a book as an adult is different from reading that same book as a kid, or married or have kids. 🥰 It's still a favorite book you pick up every once in awhile, and glean something different each time. 😁 That's Rush in bottle! 😂🐰

🙋🏿♀️ I say do the LoTR Movies Rush & the fans grew up with. 😯 We NEVER thought there would EVER be a REAL Movie, so we cherished the Ralph Bakshi Animated Movies 'The Hobbit' & 'LoTR'. 😄 He also did the Animated Award Winning Movie, 'Heavy Metal', which featured the classic song 'Lunatic Fringe'! 🥰🐰

The best song on the album imo is also the longest, you gotta give a listen to The Fountain of Lamneth it's the entire B side and the first of their three sidelong epics along with 2112 and Cygnus X-1 book ll.

Bytor and the snowdog was their inside joke. That was what the road manager called called some dogs. "Rush's road manager Howard Ungerleider came up with the title at a party. There were two dogs at the party, one a German shepherd and the other a tiny white nervous dog. Howard used to call the shepherd By-Tor because anyone that walked into the house was bitten. The other dog was a snow-dog (white). So from that night on Howard called the pair of dogs "By-Tor and the Snow Dog." The dogs belonged to Rush's manager."

@@seanpaula8924 😉 Some think it's the 🐶 dog in Videos. It's the question I would ask if I have the privilege to attend a 'My F'ing Life's discussion with Geddy. 🤔 Tickets in NYC would've been incredibly expensive. 🙋🏿♀️ But always wanted to ask because 😒 we didn't have Google to answer everything. 🤣 It was either in the Dictionary, Encyclopedia or you learned about it on 60Minutes for your Current Events Homework. 😳 Do they even teach "Current Events" anymore was what made me call it a day working for CUNY 😄 and put in for early Retirement in 2020. 🤷🏿♀️ That & the Pandemic. 🤭😁 DOH'! 🥰🐰
