Superman is trapped by the Time Master and becomes the loneliest superhero in the universe. Now he can only travel forward in time. Everyone he ever knew in 1970 is dead. He is immortal but he can age and he finds himself in a retirement home for heroes in the far future.

Thanks to everyone for your patience. The sequel and conclusion will be on the air in about an hour. It is being processed this very minute. It is so epic. What struck me the most about this stunning epic adventure is how much Jason Aaron's Last Days of Midgard owes to this old Superman adventure. Not to disparage Aaron's masterpiece in any way, the key story points are all here, packed in a single issue , rather than stretched out into five. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r9Zje6WZuL2afHU.htmlsi=9To2mUDzvroXUxYd

This sorts of stories were the best of the Silver Age; they weren't childish or patronizing, but at the same time they invoked wonder, with heroes who were both mythic yet also all too human. Superman inspires the others to do the right thing, living up to his immortal reputation, but later must contend with regret, longing for what he passed up and cannot recapture.

This one came from a box of my old comics my mother had been storing in her basement for decades. I had no idea they still existed! While visiting the old hometown on sabbatical last year, she gave me the ultimatum to take them with me or she'd finally throw them away. So many priceless treasures in that box. I managed to stuff that box in my old backpack and, at 40 lbs., it was within a pound or two of the allowed weight for checked luggage on the airline.

Funny you should say that. Wait until you catch the sequel, coming soon. The parallels between it and Jason Aaron's Last Days of Midgard are definitely more than coincidence but what they managed to pack into it took Aaron five issues. I would have been oblivious if I hadn't read Midgard first.

I remember back when I was a kid growing up during the 70's, I used to LOVE comics. I had some 12 cent Flash comics, and I think a couple of 10 cent ones too. Plus the obvious 🕷🕸Spider-Man🕸🕷, Captain America, Hulk, etc. Oh and can't forget Superman and 🦇🦇Batman🦇🦇!! These were the best times for comic books. Now? $5.00 each, or $75.00 for a graphic novela. Yikes I miss the 70's so much!

For my purposes, the older comics had a lot more dialogue too. When I graduated from Bugs Bunny to the big kid comics, they were 15 cents. I had my introduction at a rummage sale when a lady told me the only comic they had was the Hulk. Current 15 cent cover price but she only charged me 2 cents. And it was a life changer. I was stunned at the amazing adventures I'd been missing out on all that time.

For some of my students, reading from my collection was their first experience with comics and the visual cues were nor always clear at first. A friend and colleague kept a comic out longer than expected. She told me later that she couldn't get the hang of the cues immediately. Previously, she had only read Japanese comics and that is a whole diffeeent world. For most comic teaders, there is a clear left to right, up amd down system. With audio tracks, most new comic fans will pick that up quite quickly Still, an interesting idea. I am sure someone out there knows how to do it.

@@priendly I always said if I had the skill and or the money I would make or have made a comic book program to review books.
