This is a short video on my 2007 Honda Deauville and how to this day regret parting ways. This video also features my Honda NC750X when my son and I took both bikes to Glenshee. I hope you enjoy.

I've owned a 2010 NT700V Deauville for the past two years,bought as a winter bike due to the shaft drive.I initially had a love hate relationship with it,but realised after a short while the absolute gem of a bike it I'd got. I bought it with 26k on the clock and a stack of paperwork along with a w/shop manual and FSH,in immaculate condition,owned by a careful gentleman who'd really looked after it and all for £3,400! The bike now has 42k on and it's never missed a beat,in the time I've owned it it's had fork seals and bushes,two sets of tyres and servicing including a big one at 38k including valve check,plugs,air filter,etc,etc which cost me £320 at Blackpool Honda dealer. The bike sits unstressdd at 70/75 all day long and is surprisingly nimble through the twisties for such a heavy bike.I would have no quarms of taking it across Europe or beyond it's so reliable and comfortable and it returns 65 to 70(if I'm gentle)mpg imp,mine also has the R&G lower foot fairing which is a boon for keeping your feet warm in the colder months😊 Great bike highly recommended! People who think it's dull and boring are the ones who've never owned one.

Terrific post John everything you say in spot on. Funnily enough, my full service was £325 as well and got to say well worth it. That service included the fork seals so a really good price.

I sold my Deauville 650 and bought a ZZR1100 and it was the worst biking decision I ever made. I missed that Deauville every day.

Morning, it funny how the Deauville was lambasted as being a Dullville yet there are so many folk who loved them. I still hanker after the old girl as it is one of the most comfortable mid range touring bikes.

Regrets! I too had a Deauville and regret selling it. Comfortable, fast enough, economical, great storage and the shaft impeccable - where on earth are the mid engined shafts now? I love my Vulcan S now but lubing the chain every 500 miles without a centre stand is a real pain. Ive had a few Hondas ST1100 through Silverwing 600 - they have all been totally under rated, those critics of Honda's so-called boringness are so off the mark in my opinion. The ageing process dictates to me the bike I ride and I will be perfectly happy on a 350 Forza in a couple of years. A smaller Deauville in my mind - scooter /bike, who cares its 2 wheeled fun with an engine. Thanks for the vid, red looks so much better than sikver.

Morning Steve, my sentiments exactly but it be a boring world if we all liked the same things. I now have the NT1100 (chain drive boooo) and it a better bike in just about every respect but the old heart strings still pull for the Deauville. Hey ho.

My first big bike after riding vespas for 30 years when I eventually passed my test, I got a T reg Doh and loved it, I finally had to get shut because it was far too heavy for me when I was diagnosed with rumatiod arthritis. I had the big wide panniers and they were great for carrying stuff. The next bike and I've still got it is a 2015 Honda NC 750 X DCT and I love it. I do miss the Doh though.

Morning John, it is amazing the bad rep the Deauville attracts yet folk who own them just love the bikes. I still have my 2019 NC which is another bike that attracts criticism but is such an amazing motorcycle, so easy to ride and very forgiving. Thanks for looking in and the great comment, sorry to hear about the arthritis.

Well thank you very much Dezmond, I really appreciate your kind comment. Do not overlook a more modern version in the NT1100 as they are both about the same weight but of course the NT is chain drive but it is a modern motorcycle and rides very well. Good luck in your search.

Cheers Dave. I really liked how the pannier were integrated as part of the bike and the engines are bullet proof. Also got to mention how comfortable the bike was with a seat that did not give you blisters after an hour. I wonder why they decided that all bikes should now come with the comfort of a park bench.

Very nice video Alex, and the music is such a great match to the riding. One type of bike I've never owned is a shaft drive, would be great if they made an NT1100 with shaft drive, I would be 1st in the que.I would have loved to keep all my bikes, only thing stopping me was space. Keep them videos rolling as always very well edited and commented.

Evening Joe, I do miss the shaft drive, no faffing with cleaning the chain stuff. I have same issue, three bikes is my max so unless I get rid of something it a no go getting another. You are working your way through the videos and glad you enjoying them. I have spent a lot of time trying different edit techniques and aim for consistency (the intro for instance) . I have a bit of a controversial video this Friday 😆 I am sure some folk will get wound up but it all really just a bit of fun.

Cheers Mick, the Deauville can clock up big mileages if looked after, I got the valve clearances done and it made a huge difference, the bike ran so smooth. Excellent, looking forward to it and I do like the colour. If the second hand market ever gets back down to sensible values, you never know, I may just indulge 😁

Oh I see a marked resemblance between the Deauville and the NT when seen from the side, I can see why one led to the other. I think we all have regrets regarding bikes and cars we owned but sold. Thankfully I was able to bring one of mine back in the shape of the Thunderbird Sport.

Mate I had the same problem but I just sorted it. First. I bought 30mm bar risers it was ok but I'm 194cm tall and I wanted it a bit higher so I bought those other risers that rise it and moves it back a bit but it still wasn't enough so I came up with using both risers First the 30mm piece then the other ones and now it's absolutely fantastic. I just had to play a bit with the cables cuz they are not long enough so I had to change their way around the brackets. I really recommend you to try at least 1 set.of bar risers you will feel the difference immediately
@flitsies
@flitsies Ай бұрын
@@yaninacepqni2091 Yes I tried the risers but was turned off from trying bigger risers due to the problems with the cables like you said. But I think if Honda has addressed the comfort issue of this bike they would have sold a lot more. It's a really good bike but the comfort issue is a big one, considering it is supposed to be a touring bike that is strange. If I keep the bike any longer I may look into getting some custom made cables.
