Sorry i love Ralph! He would never hurt Alice. HE IS SCARED OF ALICE BELIEVE ME. It's a funny show and you should not get upset at all. I feel sad for Alice but she really loves him and understands him better than anyone else.

Funny that in the Italian restaurant, Norton surrenders his hat to the hat-check girl, but Ralph keeps his on. Norton even had his hat on when he went to bed.

I love how they ad-libed a lot of their lines in the early days. Talking over each other is how people actually talk. I like it. They mirror I Love Lucy somewhat in story lines. Ralph is not Ricky but you know what I mean. 😅 And between you and me, I have a secret crush on Ed Norton. VA VA VA VOOM!!!!

The never rehearsed, so I think that had everything to do with it since they didn't have the timing of the lines down. They never ad-libed on this show.

That was TV back in the 1950's. A lot of it was either live or with little or no rehearsals. When they goofed, they just picked themselves up and kept going.

The reason Gleason kept these recordings under lock and key was because they were segments from his variety show and not as good as the Classic 39 episodes that came later.

Ralph is something. The guy never learns. How many times has he jumped to conclusions and been wrong? For once he should say to himself: I don't know. I don't have all the information. How a fine, sensible, fairly good-looking woman like Alice could have fallen for this verbally abusive idiot is beyond me. Well, at least he's funny.
@in2movies
@in2movies 10 күн бұрын
That is part of the ongoing storyline. Ralph never seems to get a break and he stuffs up everytime. In the end he usually ends up having to admit it and its always the lovely Alice to the rescue.

Ralph's apartment is a shit hole
@in2movies
@in2movies 28 күн бұрын
That forms part of the running comedy storyline: How Ralph has nothing compared to Ed and Trixie. Many jokes are made throughout the series about how crappy his apartment is. When Alice tells him that the place is a dump he yells out: Dump? Dump? Duuuump? In another episode he tells Alice not to worry if something happens to him because he has left all the stuff in the apartment to her. And the list of these jokes goes on and on.

Yes there is a reason Ralph's apt. Is not that great. Alot of the jokes deal with that place. ALICE SAID THAT THE PLACE LOOKS LIKE YUCCA FLATTS AFTER THE BLAST.

The main characters, especially Ralph, are not that likeable in these lost episodes. He is aggressive, violent , obnoxious and all he has to do is apologize for a happy ending. The regular episodes are similar, but the edge and meanness are toned down. These episodes certainly reflect real life, but it’s kind of uncomfortable to watch in a comedy.
@alcahallic4526
@alcahallic4526 16 күн бұрын
I totally agree with you, Gleason's version of Ralph here was not as 'lovable', not that the Classic 39 Ralph wasn't throwing people out of his apartment, but in the lost episodes he acts more aggressive and downright mean.
@maggieb369
@maggieb369 14 күн бұрын
@@alcahallic4526 true…they probably softened the character on purpose to make him more appealing. I understand Gleason endured a difficult childhood. Perhaps he channeled some of that to create the original character

I really love the lost episodes especially the short ones. But you make a good point I've thought about as well Ralph is nastier and edger in these episodes. Absolutely wild at times and then all he has to do at the end and say baby you're the greatest and all is forgiven.
