Really. Let me phrase it like this. People like Sheol's enemies mostly for that one lady(even though Psi Hunter gets overlooked, having an enemy that fights other enemies is cool af). People like Cathedral enemies for the concepts.

One thing I really like about Fiend Folio is how they reuse sound effects in the game for different purposes. A great example is the Chorester using a pitch shifted soul heart sound

We're slowly starting to reach the end at that point, only a few floors left. Only thing left to do is hoping that the next ones are as good as the previous floors, cause we got some fucking bangers recently. Love the use of homing tears and more Laserbeams which together with the gravedigger gives the Cathedral some much needed Identity besides "the floor before the chest". The Cathedral Rating: 8/10 Personal favourite Enemy: Holy Wobbles. Not too annoying, very fitting and incredibly cute.

First of, I'm ngl, the music almost made me tear up. It really feels holy, like we're being judged by a higher power. Second of all, I really like the enemy choices here. Pre Repentance Cathedral feels really... Idk, rushed? Like it's just a collection of enemies with no holy or religiois theming. Repentance gave us Holy Eyes and Holy Mulligans, which are a good start, but Fiend Folio goes a step further with the holy theme and even adds these abstract, polygonlike aliens, maybe referencing how higher ranking angels aren't humanoid looking Though I'm surprised the Effigies and Enlighteneds don't spawn in Mausoleum too. That, and I think I may have seen an older version of the Choristers in DeviantArt

Honestly, I think FF should look into making more enemies for the Dark Room, Chest, and Void to give them some unique quality besides "spam bosses". AFAIK, they made one enemy for Dark Room, the Slim Shady, but it was only because of the name.

I love this so much. Repentance redressed the balance a little, but it was always a bit disappointing that the Cathedral had so many generic enemies and comparatively few unique, heavenly-themed ones. These nicely fill the niche!

Agree. Pre Repentance Cathedral kinda felt more like a boss rush with basic enemies. Glad they're taking the holy theme more seriously now in base game and mods. On a side note, I think Cathedral could benefit from a holy version of the rolling meat enemies themed around the ophanim for more challenge

Fiend Folio Figments: Figuring out what each FF Floor represents in Isaac’s mind (because I’m bored) This is what Isaac sees his church (and the angels themselves) as. Pure beings far beyond biology or meaning. Ghosts are obviously here because of heaven, their spirits resting in a place of higher planes. Effigies and choristers are more about the down-to-earth aspects of religion, with things like Holy Wobbles being a bell. As to why Isaac even has to fight them: he feels as if he’s trespassing. He’s a sinner that needs to be punished.

All the homing tears really give the impression of god's omniscience. And angels, being extensions of god's will, carry that knowledge, thus making their attacks homing.

Enemy idea: clotical It acts like a clotty but it can go through obstacles and go above holes. Instead of shooting regular tears it shoots 4 homing tears in a diagonal direction and shoots an angel beam in a cardinal direction

Holy Sword Health: 40 Armor: 5 Erratically floats around the room, performing one of two acts depending based on how far Isaac is: - ‌If Isaac is close, quickly spins around and chases him, stopping to fire a sword bullet in front of Isaac - ‌If Isaac is far, points its tip towards him to fire off an angel laser After taking enough damage, stabs itself on the floor and releases a Warrior Spirit ‌While in this state, a light beam falls on it; the light beam disappears if the Warrior Spirit dies or repossesses it 1.a. Warrior Spirit Health: 20 Chases Isaac with loose movements, often dashing at him or shooting two spectral tears in a cone After a set time, goes back to its Holy Sword 2. Holy Knight Health: 32 Roam around the room, only moving in the cardinal directions ‌Makes a slight charge when sighting Isaac, picking up a small amount of speed and stopping upon hitting an obstacle Spawns surrounded by two rings: - ‌The outer ring acts like a Circle of Protection, reflecting tears back as homing shots - ‌The inner ring acts like Salvation, stay in it for too long and it will stop to summon four beams of light in the cardinal directions 3. Throne Health: 40 Holy variant of a Gyro Alternates between rolling at high speeds towards Isaac and stopping to roll slowly in place - ‌When rolling, leave trails of white flames that burst into lingering light beams; the beams stay for three seconds - ‌After rolling in place, teleports around Isaac and continues the chase 4. Cupid Health: 42 Armor: 4 Teleports around the room and fires a homing arrow at Isaac The arrows deal no damage, but causes all enemies (except itself and other Cupids) to relentlessly chase Isaac for six seconds or if it's killed 5. Shimmerspirit Health: 8 Stage HP: 1 Orbits an enemy, acting as an Angelic Prism for their projectiles 6.
