Inside her bedchamber in Osborne House, her favourite residence, on the 22nd January 1901 at the age of 81, Queen Victoria was gravely ill. She was a Queen who had been on the throne for a huge amount of time, and the impending death of Victoria was a big problem for the nation that she had reigned over. It was such a long time since a monarch had died that the precedent and ettiequte of a state funeral had also died out, and not one person in the country had any experience in dealing with this sort of event. But inside of her bedroom, the Queen who had ruled for 63 years was slipping away surrounded by her family. She was a woman who was not very well, and she was also a Queen who had suffered with depression and great grief and upset for years following the death of her husband Prince Albert. But what happened in Queen Victoria’s final moments?
Queen Victoria was never the same following the death of her husband, Prince Albert. She would throughout the rest of her life following his early death at the age of 42 wear black and would be in a deep state of mourning. Victoria would have dreamed that her husband would have been with her for many years, and that the pair would have enjoyed her long lengthy reign together. But inside Windsor Castle whilst he lay on his death bed, Prince Albert was suffering, and he had throughout his life suffered with many different illnesses, but he continually got worse, to the point where he lost the will to live, and he became greatly depressed by his constant issues regarding his health. There have been many causes of Albert’s death debated by historians, but he was a man who was ill in the last two years of his life. But what is the real story behind the horrific death of Queen Victoria’s beloved husband?

Very interesting, thank you. At 16:21 you mention that in 1953 Prince Alfred became very ill with measles - this should be 1853. Also, at 19:03, you mention the 9th of December 1891, towards the end of Albert’s horrible year, when his doctor formally diagnosed him with typhoid fever. This should be 1861.

You continue to make such high quality videos, but you also continue to ignore your loyal subscribers who repeatedly question your titles which always use “Horrific”, a complete mischaracterization of the deaths you profile. Such titles are rightfully known as “clickbait”-and this is so unnecessary. Your good video quality makes this unnecessary. I’m going to unsubscribe because I’m disappointed in your continued use of a tactic that is beneath you.

Selfish person unlike her husband Albert who cared about poverty & the poor. Her eldest son & heir Edward Also cared for the working classes when he became king in 1901 upon his Mothers death.

Not horrific for Victoria. She was obese for many years and overindulgence of food and alcohol finally took their natural toll. She was 81. Ripe old age especially. For that time.

She was never known for over-indulging in alcohol.

Are we sure this was a HORRIFIC death for Queen Victoria? I would categorize it as a normal death due to old age and stroke. And I’m not sure Prince Albert’s death was horrific either. He was sickly in general, then got sick and died. There’s more of a case for horrific for Albert, but even that is thin debate.

I've often wondered if Albert might've actually had an autoimmune disease like Chron's, Ehlers-Danlos, Celiac, Lyme Disease, POTS, etc. and wasn't actually a Hypochondriac. I had severe fatigue up until I realized that red meat no longer was good for my body (I had IgG/IgA antibodies from it, and it was causing severe fatigue, inflammation, and joint pain, once I cut it out of my diet a few years ago my severe fatigue all but disappeared within a few months). When those of us with autoimmune diseases have flare-ups they often come with depression and anxiety.

I developed a hyperactive thyroid, and I have type 2 diabetes, which also affects my stomach from time to time. And yes, I suffer from both depression & anxiety along with severe mood swings. Not fun.

I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Chiara Malformation scoliosis and a stretch and tethered spinal cord. I'm in alot of pain everyday. I am 54 years old still trying to managed as Dr's won't help me with pain relief because of the opoid epidemic which isn't fair to some who do not abuse

I have a love/hate relationship towards Victoria. I honor her service and steadfastness. However I feel she could have done so much for females

The more I learn about Victoria, the more I realize what a horribly selfish person she was.
