Such an iconic and mesmerising border mountain . Great info there mate. Apparently too there was a surveyor who got up the top in the 70’s but was stranded for a week with bad weather so he cleared a section on the summit for a helicopter rescue and landing ! Ps. Innes is a local legend with many tourist rescues on mt Barney as well

I've never heard about that surveyor story. That would be quite a tale to tell for that guy.

European mountaineers think that Australia has no mountains because they are small by world standards . Just because they are small it doesn’t mean that they are not hard to climb . I feel so sorry for those who lost their lives . Lucky touched my heart the most . May they all rest in peace !

Hey John, Great Vid again Mate, makes me think of those 19th century guys the climbed the European Mountains in A tweed suit and knickerbockers, with just a hemp rope and a Tarzan grip. That mountain is safest viewed in 4k on a 60" screen. You are right, a lot of that rock is agglomerated Volcanic junk, not something I would want my Life hanging onto. And the comments below on the quality of your stuff is spot on, it's getting quite cinematic. -T-Rocks 😎

When a mate and I tried to climb it in the 80's, we were someway up the wrong way when fortunately a couple of guys that knew, told us the Vidler story and that we were climbing the route he fell off, so we came down. We were shown the proper route, and got up without needing a rope, the vegitation was crucial for haulling on. The top is quite boring, no view, like Greville and Cordeaux. Did you photograph the summit logbook entries ? I cant remember signing in, there were alot of substances going around in them days.

John your videos are just getting better and better!! Great work!! I've noticed a couple of memorial plaques in some of the random places i explore, but i never really looked into them. You've inspired me! When Miller passed away i was actually in Europe at the time, it got me reflecting, there i was travelling around having fun completely oblivious that a tragedy was happening for a family. I know that sort of stuff happens all the time, but it's not often you can say "I was here doing this at the time".
@jelbuilderfilms

Thanks Andrew, appreciated. Theres often a story behind these little plaques, isn't there?

Amazing video!! I'm not sure if you have already, but you should definitely check out Stinson's Wreck and Westray's Grave. The story is very interesting given that Bernard O'Reilly spotted a single burnt out tree on a ridge and didn't see the same tree again until he was metres away.
@jelbuilderfilms

Cheers. I've actually got videos on my Channel where I detail the history and exactly how to get to Stinson's Wreck Site, and another one where I show what a rugged beast Stretcher Track is where they brought out the two survivors - Proud and Binstead. Stretcher Track in LNP is probably one of the most difficult tracks I have ever explored.

My dad and my grandfather climbed that decades ago with a few others. My grandfather at the time was working for the DPI and specialises in native Aus plants. He was told a rare plant was growing up the top. So he went up to get samples of the plant. But then, not finding the plant on the peak. Asked the info source where he saw it on the peak. Source then replies. "No not Mt Lindsay Qld, Mt Lindesay WA"!

Very nicely told, shot and edited John - lovely drone shots too 👍 Would like to see a short vid at some point on your filming setup and Go pro settings/editing suite, which drone your using etc.. I'm guessing, its just a chest mount, mini tripod and some kind of selfie stick? I just got a gopro 11 and I've given up trying to film anything in 4K! Takes up too much space and the laptop slows to a crawl trying to edit it 😞
@jelbuilderfilms
@jelbuilderfilms 11 ай бұрын
That's probably a good idea for a video... I'll see what I can do 😁 Yeah, editing is a very taxing process for a computer so it def needs a good CPU, large ram, SDD hard drive, and reasonable graphics card.
