Interesting to see Surgeon Commander Mike Edwards again. He did an operation to repair my right patellar tendon when I managed to tear it whilst I was still serving. That operation has a really poor success rate, but I had to all intents and purposes complete resolution of symptoms. He really is an extremely skilled surgeon.

So easy to assume she was a victim. Kind folks imagine innocence in others. But maybe it was the opposite - maybe she'd abused her status, victimized others, caused all manners of trouble, made enemies high and low, and her death and the sabotage of her afterlife were carried out to stop her particular brand of evil.

I would think the most likely story is she slept with a powerful woman's husband. People generally don't take this kind of "Kill you in an extremely painful way and curse you in the afterlife" style revenge without some sort of deep personal/emotional reason. It would also explain why they still went through the motions of a burial but did the desecration in secret. They didn't want questions asked about why she was so mistreated in death. If she was a publicly horrible person, they could have just tossed her body off a cliff or left her out for the buzzards.

Lots of fascinating theories. I was thinking she may have been a witness to something, maybe even a co-conspirator in a crime. By removing her throat, she wouldn't be able to give testimony to the gods in the afterlife to implicate her accomplices or to tell what she'd witnessed in life. A rushed job may suggest someone was trying to shut her up in both worlds.

@@angelaharris6577 this isn't university, nor do I have an interest in trying to prove anything, I was communicating the feelings I had whilst viewing her videos and later Hawass' I watched the programs of Jo finding her with solid evidence that no other Queen would have had - the nefer beads. Hawass haughtily dismissed her findings on that program. A later program was made where he claimed the discovery, for himself. You can start any research there, but I think it is beyond naiive that you only consider the old patriarchal 'proof' is viable, if available 'proof', it is deliberately curbed and edited throughout history to defame and dismiss women's findings, especially in countries where women have less respect. Used as a tool for social control and financial gain. As a former academic I can assure you that anything written down is no indication of authentication. It is kept this way deliberately, to assert authority over women and the less financially fortunate, those who have no way to read it. Empirical evidence is most often the most reliable source of fact. Be wary of the games, Angela. If you are genuinely interested you will find it. Which is the only valid reason for saying what you said.

I have to wonder, if she was so hated that someone wanted to deprive her of both life and afterlife, why bother hiding it by doing an almost-perfect mummification? Whoever did it was clearly not fully in power or they would have just thrown her body in the Nile or something. Who were they hiding the truth from, and why? Maybe we will never know.

There are only so many priests, and I'm sure none of them wanted ANY suspicion on them if it looked like they carelessly botched the mummification. The murder was MUCH easier to get away with than it EVER would have been to sabotage her afterlife journey, because to the ancient Egyptians, that process was EVERYTHING to them. They believed that this life they were just "passing through" and their real home was after that ride. EVERY step was absolutely crucial to guarantee their passage. It would have been like committing the ultimate horrific sin to purposely mess up the journey: like, if you've ever watched The Mummy (Brendan Fraser), the ritual to imprison the scorpion king was so forbidden and rare because of the curse it caused, that it was done only once to the absolute worst human being on the planet in their eyes. That kind of forbidden. Even if she had been carelessly thrown somewhere, there still would have been a chance she would have gotten into the next life because she still had her voice and maybe the gods could fix her body. What better way to make absolute sure that she has no chance to make it is to subtly do the mummification, but to MAKE SURE that she 1) can't be recognized 2) can't speak (which also insures that she could also never tell anyone in THAT life either who killed her, which the team probably never thought about) 3) no one else can identify her or speak her name in the identification. It was really the perfect way to absolutely erase someone. Glad they didn't succeed 👍

Something to bear in mind, those who would be doing her embalming would have likely been more afraid of the person who ordered her spiritual sabotage than the curses that would be heaped upon the embalmers who inflicted this curse upon her. To have rather followed the orders to treat her remains like this the embalmers are risking the wrath of the powers that be in the underworld, since believed that they all face judges individually. The scientist with the red hair sounded as if she is superstitious. Which leads me back to my point. The ancient Egyptians were a very superstitious people and truly believed that the departed had the power to affect the physical world. For them to have cursed her this way means they either hated her and did this anyway disregarding the potential after affects upon themselves or, were too afraid to cross the one powerful person who gave these orders lest they end up on the slab themselves.

In my opinion from what I have read and comprehend was that by removing her throat ,she would not be able to utter any spells from the book of the dead for protection while traveling through the underworld, and she could not speak her name to be judged She would be unknown and forgotten. Egyptians believed in the Ba and the Ka..one was able to leave the body , I’ve forgotten which one. However ,if it left the body , and returned. It would not recognize the face and therefore wouldn’t re enter the body with not being able to recognized by the gods to be judged.

why did they mummify her at all? Priests & embalmers need a Job. Maybe trainee's needed to work on a "practice body" & she fit the bill. Not important enough to worry about, like a Ramses. They did many of the cuts right when gutting her and mt the brain cavity. Maybe the scribe on the outside of the coffin was dyslexic and could not spell...or did not pay attention in class so you got an early "TYPO". Maybe should not try to spell after a few beer.(they had beer in those days) that is why they can't remember how the hell they moved stone? You know, the same reasons we give today. Was she from the Rameside lineage? (Through Henuttawy, daughter of Rameses XI?) At the time, the priests were actively wresting control of Egypt from the royal families. So, maybe she was killed because of her royal lineage? Perhaps she represented the threat of a return to dynastic rule. Just speculation, of course.

The sealed environment would have to be a room that had no OXYGEN in it. That can be done as they store fresh fruit in a warehouse where it is atmospherically controlled. No oxygen. Fruit does not oxidize(=rust) Mainly CO2 gas. So that is easy. Everyone working there would have to wear scuba type equipment with oxygen tanks on their back. . I think they just wanted to give themselves a challenge. Look inside without going inside. It made for a story. Catherine Austin Fitts is a treasure of knowledge and perspective. Absolutely Excellent! Thank you both for Sharing! I love what Catherine shares about the two camps of humans. The one camp where all the people are trapped as slaves into the technological machine and the other camp where people dropped out of the AI, cyberspace, and electronic technology and instead are connected to people, and nature and live a healthy grounded life. They are the real survivors during these bizarre times. I hope to be among them.

Might it be a royal found guilty of a crime - so they still had the right to royal burial but deliberately denied eternal peace? I seem to remember an episode of Time Team where they found a Saxon royal burial with all the trappings, but the body had been deliberately burring upside down with the hands tied, and it was speculated that it was a member of the royal family who had been found guilty probably of treason, so they still got the royal burial but in a way that deliberately dishonored them. Made me wonder if this wasn't a similar case.

In view of the errors that have been identified, one has to wonder what other errors have been missed. I didn’t see any attention to the pelvic region to verify the mummy was female. If the remains were referred to as “Lord” & “he” in the inscription was this done as an insult or to confuse the reader or the embalmer’s mistake? Assassination? Why? We’re the apparent mistakes in the embalming process & written information on the sarcophagus due to being rushed or on purpose? Lots more questions than answers.

Indeed. Maybe I need to rewatch that section, but I'm confused how they can say the scribe got the name wrong without anything else to say what the name should be. Or was the name on the case correct but the Brits transcribed it wrong 200 years ago? Um, yes, I'm confused. I am also surprised that there were no tests to check sex. It seems an obvious first step. Assuming it was a woman, the first thought that crosses my mind when they say a huge jagged cut in her abdomen, is that she died in childbirth and someone did an emergency cesarean to get the baby out alive. I suspect that's one injury the military doctor hasn't seen. However, none of these things explain the poor quality of the embalming or the apparent removal of her throat. There is a lot more study required here.

What an interesting story! A great many details were uncovered but I am left with so many questions. The question was asked why the wound couldn't have been the result of a fall onto the knife rather than a murder but not answered. It was pointed out the sarcophagus was opened 200 years ago and the mummy damaged but not how it was damaged? Could the poor condition of the body, in the face, for example, be a result of that? Still, riveting. Thank you!

She was murdered and wasn’t found for a few days. That’s why decomp started. Even I know that the second you die and brainwaves stop….. you start decomposing. Now it’s extremely slow in the beginning, and environment does play a huge part. The colder, the slower. The hotter, the faster. And Egypt is hot.
@LifeInPink999
@LifeInPink999 Жыл бұрын
Unless she was left decomposing for weeks and outside (something strange if she was not a commoner) it still doesn’t explains it because what you don’t know is that when a Royal or a high statutes woman died often her body would not have been given to the embalmers for 3-4 days. Why? Because there were cases of embalmers well abusing the body especially if the woman was beautiful. That’s a fact you can look it up. So 3-4 days doesn’t affect that much the remains I assume that in the case that the husband, father or the family wanted to wait they would have kept the body in appropriate conditions. But here we a have a murder, probably in her residence and probably found almost right away. So in those conditions she would have went to embalmers right away therefore the preservation is caused by a rushed work. You have the ones who plotted it maybe even her family, the person who committed the murder, the embalmers making a rushed job and being paid for making her “unable to speak” in the afterlife plus the scribes who either had an order or payment to make a major mistake. When you make such a big conspiracy against someone the ideal is to get over with the funeral to avoid questions and cover the murder. I just wonder who she was because that’s a lot of work, with several people involved… plotting to kill someone and deny them the afterlife. That’s like the ultimate wrongdoing you could commit in ancient Egypt.
