Pre-Order Critical Role: 'Call of the Netherdeep' here www.amazon.com...
Todd Kenreck sat down with Matthew Mercer, Chris Perkins, Makenzie De Armas and James Haeck about the new book.
Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep
Can You Change Fate?
An epic Critical Role campaign for the world’s greatest roleplaying game.
The greed of mortals has awakened a powerful entity long thought destroyed. For eons, this mighty champion of the gods has been imprisoned in the darkest depths of Exandria. His name has been forgotten, as have his heroic deeds. Languishing in despair, he calls out for new heroes to save him.
Inspired by the campaigns of the hit series Critical Role, this adventure begins in the Wastes of Xhorhas and leads to the glimmering oasis-city of Ank’Harel on the continent of Marquet, and from there into a sunken realm of gloom, corruption, and sorrow known as the Netherdeep. Above it all, the red moon of Ruidus watches, twisting the fates of those who have the power to shape the course of history.
Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep contains seven chapters of thrilling adventure, new creatures and magic items, and a poster map of Ank’Harel.
First major adventure module within Critical Role’s world of Exandria, taking players from levels 3-12.
Multi-continental story that spans the scarred Wastes of Xhorhas, introduces the continent of Marquet, and eventually plunges players into the Netherdeep-a terrifying cross between the Far Realm and the deep ocean.
Bursting with lore and all new art depicting Exandria.
Includes new magic items and creatures and introduces new rival NPCs.

"It is absolutely necessary, for the peace and safety of mankind, that some of earth's dark, dead corners and unplumbed depths be let alone; lest sleeping abnormalities wake to resurgent life, and blasphemously surviving nightmares squirm and splash out of their black lairs to newer and wider conquests." -H.P. Lovecraft.

The dungeon master laughing is inherently terrifying, though not normally for this reason

One of my favorite settings was Saltmarsh. So many things that the creators in this video said resonate. In our real world there are terrifying things, and spacing them up with a little D&D flare & magic made this adventure I must buy for me. I don’t need any more hype videos I’m on board, and hesitant to go overboard because that thing with too many eyes might grab me.

So basically blending of the Far Realm, Shadow and Water Plane. Ok I got it sounds cool . Don't play 5e but will definitely pick it up and use some of the concepts for my 3.5/Pathfinder homebrew world.

Oh deep horror stuff is my absolute jam! For inspiration for a fellow DMs, imagine be in this dark space and then you hear the sound of something like a Crabsquid or worse from subnatica game for inspiration. and the sound like this creature is far away - but in reality its 40 feet and heading towards your exact location cause it has caught the ' scent ' of you.

Is there a video of just the whole thing? I can’t be the only one who would rather watch it at once and not in pieces like this.

I have a question for the community. can you use magic stone on a necklace of fireballs bead, and would that allow a spell sniper pc throw said bead twice as far?

I'm thinking of following up my LMoP campaign with CotN. Would that work? (I know CotN starts at level 3, but I figure that I can adapt it to level 5 easily enough.) Do you have any ideas on how to get my PCs to transfer to Matt's world?
@eblausund
@eblausund 2 жыл бұрын
If you want to keep torril and Exandria apart I'm sure you could set of some mystical event, in a 1 shot or something like that, that makes them traverse the multiverse, but the thing about being a DM is that you have the creative freedom to do what you want, you want parts of Exandria and Torril to be in the same world, sure no problem, Just say it's a different continent and have them sent over there for a mission, by boat or something else. I'm not certain how much map content is in the campaign so I'm not going to suggest saying that everything is on the same continent if that somehow clashes with provided maps from the module, but that is also an option.

@@eblausund Thanks. From what I’ve read, it sounds like CotN spans much of the world and there is also some different magic and gods. I guess I won’t know until they publish it. As you said, the obvious solution is to have them transfer to a new plane. I’ve got several months to think about it, though. Your ideas are appreciated.

Ever heard of Spelljammer? They've got sky ships in Exandria...just a short hop away from that to spelljamming vessels that can cross space!
