I am amazed over and over when I watch the documentary about Sea The Stars. He is one of the greatest racehorses ever. Every race is amazing to watch.❤

How wise of the Tsui family to place their precious gem in the hands of an Irish trainer who is a Master Jeweller to polish such a gem with his kind and knowledgable staff of specialists. Both John Oxx and Mick Kinane were unusual experts who lacked ego and thought only of the very best for this unique horse Sea the Stars, with whom I was captivated when I saw him in his first 2yo race where even though he finished fourth - he blinded me with his precocious intelligence and physical presence and the way Mick Kinane minded him and educated him in that race. Well done all at John Oxxs stables, Mick Kinane and the Tsui family.

@@Mark12106 Really? Hard to say. Did all he could. Only horse to do the treble. Nijinsky lost the Arc, Dancing Brave the Derby. Shergar won a very average Derby. Sea the Stars never looked like being beaten but only did as much as he had to do. To say the best is impossible but my favourite, definitely.

@@Mark12106 Shergar's Derby winning time was 2.44.2 and at the time, the slowest since Airbourne in 1946, who was certainly not a great horse. I feel it begs the question, was he a simply a very good horse in a very mediocre year? I would stop short of saying STS was the best of all time but I think he was the best European racehorse this century.

@@Horichdaslicht1858 Shergar was the slowest time yes, But a furlong out Walter eased him down to a canter, But if you want to go to times then Workforce would of destroyed any Derby Field, The greatest horses for me personally was Frankle and Nijinsky both I had the privilege of seeing on the track

Honestly the Irish Champion Stakes put tears in my eyes, I really loved and admired even more this horse after that race. It showed another dimension to his already awesome arsenal of champion qualities. He did it on his ear that day and they threw everything at him

Huge credit goes to Mick Kinane! My God! What a thinking jockey!! To be strategically boxed in by other jocks, he manages to 'thread the needle' (by the grace of God at times!) to gallop through, then kick it into overdrive for spectacular finishes each and every time! Holy smokes! What a career to be proud of -- for all of Sea The Stars connections.. starting with a great mare! 😉🐴🐎

Check Me Out and Mission Brief both had that type of speed but they're trotters. Missions Brief's two year old world record could last for a century.

Sea the stars my absolute favour horse woke up guineas day with 30 pounds in my poket all on sea the stars 9 to 1 I seem to remember and every race after that after the judmont he was proud as punch only time I doubted the lion was on the rails trapped in in the arc and he proved to the world no situation he couldn't handle love and peace beautiful horse x

THEIR IS TWO STANDOUT STORIES THAT'S ABSOLUTELY VITAL IN THE STORY OF " SEA THE STARS " 1, MICK KINAN WAS AT TAIL END OF CAREER AND WAS BASICALLY RIDING OUT YOUNG HORSES UNDER INSTRUCTIONS TO SEE HOW THE HORSE LIKES AND DISLIKES, 2, WHEN FANS OF HORSE RACING GET WHOLEHEARTEDLY BEHIND A HORSE AND BASICALLY HOLDING THEIR BREATH WHILE STUCK MID PACK AND THEN MICK LET'S SEA THE STARS DO WHAT HE DOES BEST IT IS TRULY AMAZING TO SEE, HEAR AND WATCH...MANY SAY HE SHOULD OF WENT TO BREEDERS CUP , BUT MOST DON'T KNOW WHAT PLANS HORSES HAVE SET SINCE BEGINNING OF THEIR 2 YEAR OLD START UNTIL 5...THE BREEDERS CUP WAS NEVER IN THE PLAN... MY ABSOLUTELY FAVOURITE RACE, WHY? Sea the Stars and Mick Kinane were mighty, reminiscent of Arkle and Pat Taff, it was a perfect partnership. Mick Kinane was an expert jockey, he read his races perfectly. He knew exactly when to 'go for home' and Sea the Stars responded every time. Once those ears went back he was unstoppable. Even now, when we watch old footage of them together and already knowing the result of each race, it is still thrilling, a masterclass in motion.

For me Sea the Stars pips Frankel as the best ever. That 3 year old season in spectacular. 2000 Guineas, Epsom Derby, Irish Champion Stakes and the Arc. What a run that is. Multiple distances, multiple countries, same result

Agreed He was the perfect horse and the model example of the 8 Carrat linage. His son Lohnro was more exciting due to the acceleration, but Octagonal was the best looking horse we have seen in Australia.

Secretariat just had the one big race and other than that showed nothing so I'd take Sea The Stars in a match race.

My problem is USA has had issues around doping and as the other comment said here wasn't doing much and all of a sudden raced out of its skin. Take into account the testing then wouldn't have been as it is in today's racing and it's hard to accept all was totally above board. Different era, different times and different enforcement surrounding performance enhancement.

Definitely goes into that small handful of "greatest racehorse of all time' horses, if he had travelled to the Breeders Cup and put down another legendary performance it would have been hard to say he wasn't the actual one

it seems to be expensive to compete in horse racing. you need to purchase the expensive horses with a good racing heritage and pedigree, then you need an entire ranch to raise and train them, and you need trainers and staff to care for them as well as vets and feed and hay. Then you need a jockey who will be good at racing... seems it will cost 1m+ just to train a single race horse.

Sea The Stars. The only horse (so far) to win the big three Classics in Europe, in the same year. The 2,000 G., The Derby, L'Arc. That's what all you so called Judges of great flat race horses should be pointing out. Shergar never won the 2,000 G. or l'Arc. And Frankel couldn't win The Derby, never mind l'Arc.

Those that put Frankel above him aren't correct,I know there's a lot of banter about the best in the world and if someone asked me what do you have to do to claim to be the best in the world. I'd say race the best on their homeground and STS did just that. To enter races to test the unknown compared to racing just the known at home takes courage and forgoing any winning record. Frankel should have raced in the Derby at least,but even by the connections own word they said he wouldn't have stayed.

I put seA the stars at the very top echlon of horses but frankel was imense you will likely never see any horse beat a group of one horses by ten lengths amazing

@@terenceduggan3236not all horses like to do that but that doesn't mean a horse who only ever done enough doesn't mean he is didn't win it with the same ease you just need to look at his Arc win anything that could have went wrong did go wrong and yet he still won pulling up. Bts anything Frankel ever done

Sorry can't agree with that, I am a great fan of him but frankel won on all grounds and I believe that if you don't remember his last win in the champion stakes he beat a horse that had been unbeatable for 3 years on heavy ground cyres des Engel and frankel beat him 1 and a half lengths amazing and you can look at things differently for instance when sea the star's one the guineas he beat delagator who didn't do a lot after that but I don't knock that form because sea the stars only beat was there and he never beat anything more than he had too if frankel would have won the arc

@@rodneymckee8431 everyone has opinions I could not give a better example than cyres des Engel but still you disbelieve, frankel guineas is not about what he beat it's about how he beat them also I told you about him beating several group 1winners and why I believe frankel would have stayed a mile and a half is because he's by Galileo and most of his prodgeny stays mile up to st ledger distances but you believe what you believe but I stick with frankel, last thing Franky detori said at Newmarket meeting stating he remembers guineas and said I remember him them coming out of the stalls and saw a horse go out in front and he thought he was a pace maker, and look what detori has ridden in his career

Greatest ever, ran faster guineas and judmonte than Frankel on the bridle on identical ground. The clock doesn’t lie, Frankels rating was bought by judmonte to combat coolmore at the sales. No way was he higher rated than STS, scandalous.

Agree with 75 percent of that imo it's nothing to do with Coolmore our judmonte it's to do with how far he won by who trained him and that he was unbeaten . Personally imo Frankel is the 3rd best horse in my life time behind STS and Rock of Gibraltar

I agree having worked in the industry for over 40 years. No way Frankel was better, it was a jealous British Breeding that played foul by tempting their handicapper to lower the best horses ratings to make Frankels better.

On top of that, good ratings are governed by all other horses and their ratings also. The formlines are constantly being monitored and tested so they are as accurate for all horses at all levels. They are based on relation to oneanother on ratings. Rp and tf ratings might be a little biased but the OR is mostly unbiased and fair to all horses in training

@@captain007x Mission Brief had the most spectacular mile of the last 40 years with her 1:50.3 clocking October 2nd 2014 at The Meadowlands. That world record could last more than a century. She's known as "the freak of nature". Google "Girl Power - The Freak of Nature"

It is all about personal opinions....we all know sea the stars was a "proper" race horse...won all those group ones,sealed the deal with the arc....BUT,he NEVER had Frankel's swagger. For comparison...imagine lebron james...who exceeded expectations,won everything and became an all time legend....but compared to Michael Jordan,lebron will ALWAYS be a poor second. If you got a golden ticket to watch peak lebron or peak Jordan,whom would you go see? It really is that simple. STS is lebron,Frankel is Jordan.

Secretariat was and is still the greatest horse ever.were you aware that NOT ONE time did his jockey ever use a whip. If God wants a hirse to ve the best, it will run because it loves to.

Have you even watched the replays of secretariat? Secretariat was ridden with the crop. Off the top of my head, I can tell you that turcott used the whip on him in the Kentucky Derby, coming off the turn and into the stretch. You might be thinking of Man o War, who was whipped one time in his career.

I don't even follow European horse racing and am still aware of how legendary Sea the Stars is. He is the second highest rated horse in timeform ever recorded on the planet. He is rated a 145. For reference, Frankel is the only horse to have rated higher at 147. Only 7 horses in history have ever rated above a 141. For example, Flightline last year, the horse everyone was comparing to Secretariat for like 3 months last year was rated a 143.

@SSN862 sea the stars was only rated at 140. Considering he won probably the 4 best races of the year in the 2000, Derby arc and eclipse I can't understand why it's so low.

Sea the stars beat better horses than Frankel and stayed a mile and a half. The guineas Derby and arc in the same year. He never won by far but that was how he ran.

Sea the stars broke the track record in the eclipse and the international at York. Still it's amazing that these 2 horses still set the standard despite being retired for over 10 years.

Why would you pass on the Kentucky derby? With a horse like that he could have been so much more. Nice horse but not a triple crown winner. Shame had the horse not the balls

Because he was turf not dirt bred. He's the only horse in history even to this day to win the 3 biggest turf races in Europe in the 1 season guineas derby and Arc.
