The Hotel Sterling

Күн бұрынFor more than a century the Hotel Sterling stood proudly along the banks of the Susquehanna River in Wilkes-Barre. Elegance, excellent service, and high cuisine were the hallmarks of the hotel, and it became a chic destination for prominent citizens in the region and the nation. Fred George, former Head Chef at the hotel, gives a chilling description of the former glamour of the Hotel Sterling prior to its demolition in the summer of 2013.

So sad. I lived in Ashley and never went there. My mother and father had their wedding reception there in 1938.

Always knew we were home when we saw the Hotel Sterling sign from the highway on our way to my grandparents' house in Kingston.

Howie Willams and his Mom will never be forgotten. Neither will the guy who sat in the lobby behind the counter all night,he would search the whole building at night with his dog.

fell into disrepair-- meaning little shits broke in and vandalized heritage and people en masse no longer cared, because it was not important to them. what really is worth saving? Do you have any native host or clothing , baskets etc. No old muskets at home?

Its very similar to berry The Barre is in honor of Isaac Barre.

Barre is pronounced "Berry". If you say "Bar" we immediately know your're not from here.
