PTSD possibly. Remember, Rhaegar Targaryen gave a rose to Robert's betrothed, Lyanna the day of the Tourney at Harrenhal, that coupled with the massive Mountain attacking Ser Loras the way he did, almost mirrored Robert's battle with Rhaegar, albeit they weren't fighting in the river and Loras was utterly defenseless. Hooked blades His emotions made him arrogant. Once Gregor was on his back he should have left him to die or piece his face. But no he had to hear him say what he wanted. Even Cersei said that all he had to do was let Gregor die but he couldn’t. The Martells are like the Targaryens in that regard. In fact all the current generation of Martells are part Targaryen due to the Targaryens and Martells marrying a hundred years ago. And even if Orys Baratheon wasn’t Aegon’s Bastard Brother. Robert’s Grandmother was a Targaryen. Which was used as a pretext to justify his rule even though he got his crown from right of conquest. So it appears even diluting the Targaryen blood makes the relatives a bit more emotional and often is their downfall.

Even the scoring was better in the first season, you really start to pick up stuff when you’ve watched it a bunch. I’ve read the books 4 times now, listened to the audio books twice, and watched the show countless times. And even though the first season is perfect and I love it, ( I’ll never ever forget the utter shock and how it made me feel watching “Baelor”) I wish I’d never heard of it. He _immediately_ stops when Robert commands and assumes a respectful stance, despite the risk that Gregor would have just kept going. He's still his usual dour self when Loras thanks him: "I'm no 'Ser'." I like the way this was built up more in the book. This joust actually took place the morning after most of the tournament and The Hound had escorted Sansa back to the castle. That’s where we learn his backstory, he opens up to her and tells it to her, mainly as a lesson to her about how she doesn’t really know the first thing about what makes someone truly “gallant.” It’s a nice little moment where she actually feels sad for him. Ofc, he then threatens to kill her if she tells anyone, but it still set up this moment wonderfully. Was a great payoff showing that he actually does have some gallantry under all his cynicism.

Martin was in media for about 20 years (working on TV), and so was able to promote the idea of publishing his book into a television series (an option a great deal of people don’t have) not being in that industry, and not knowing where to go with your source material makes it hard for small time authors to penetrate into that industry, and so don’t discredit others ideals and criticism so easily. Martin on the other hand has (and had) millions of dollars, contacts in the media industry, and has have over 20 years to bring to conclusion the series that many people have invested their wealth into. Game of thrones deserves all the ill praise it has gotten and Martin could have stopped it all just by first finishing up his books before season 4 ended... he did not.

I really did think this guy was -the- best pick for the Mountain. He had that fucked up look of a psychopath in his eyes.

but that's not his most important character trait. It's that he's a giant and dumb s fuck and I think bjornsson portrays this better

+Jim Knopf I disagree. Bjornsson looks too kind.
@courtneyclark12158 жыл бұрын
+Michel van der Linden Definitely, part of the reasoning being that the gigantism the mountain suffered from gave him constant headaches 24/7, which also made him get easily irritated/angered. This guy plays that angry part considerably well.

Yes Imo First Mountain > Third Mountain > Second Mountain . Second mountain was the worst they simply took the tallest actor they could find. Third and current mountain is good and his stature and body are perfect for the mountain but his face isn't compared to the first one. First moutain looked terrifying, eyes of fucking psychopath and overall really looks angry. I'd be more afraid of first Mountain than the third.

Holy sht... after all these years, this scene somehow got stuck in my head... I remember all of this, watching it as I was a kid, thinking it was one of those medieval documentaries... little did I know, I'll discover this around 11 years later... after I got interested in it after watching shorts...

The real “cleganebowl”. So much more powerful than what they gave us in season 8. “Leave him be!” Gives me chills knowing Sandor’s past, and he was ready to throw down on behalf of someone that realistically he didn’t give two shits about. There’s a big difference between solid character development and simple fan service.

dude you dumb cleganebowl was one of the good parts of season 8 what are you smokin
@ghostface41672 жыл бұрын
@@jakestatefarm7054 Sure, one empty and one destroyed character beating each other in boring, badly choreographed battle, and it all ends in an anticlimatic way. Clagenbowl was bad, because Mountain was boring and one dimensional character ever since his ressurection. Hound had problems with his brother, problems he wanted solve and avenge. Not with a mindless sack of meat, that says nothing, and does nothing beside standing here and there menecingly.
@bubba857152 жыл бұрын
@@ghostface4167 The mountain knew all about Sandor to the end. Not sure where you get this description from, but it’s certainly not from the show I watched. Hate season 8 all you wish, Clegane Bowl II was good.
@heroicaura71312 жыл бұрын
@@ghostface4167 I'm a bit late but the Mountain clearly sill recognized the Hound. Why else would he suddenly disobey and straight up kill Qyburn, the person who created him? It was because he saw his brother and, regardless of him being a zombie at that point, he still felt the hatred towards him. I do agree with the other things you said though, they both died and it felt like nothing between them was resolved or avenged.

@Razzy13128 жыл бұрын
Chris66able If you really believe that than you are a twisted blind fool. PTSD has been documented since ancient times. It may be over-diagnosed in modern times like most diseases, but to say it doesn't exist is doing a great disservice to mental health. That's like saying depression and anxiety don't exist - but you're probably one of the sociopaths who believes that too. I dare you to tell the WWII vet who went through a hell like Iwo Jima that the fact that he wakes up in the middle of the night, in cold sweats, having shit the bed because he had that damn dream again of seeing his buddy's head blown off. And every time he has this dream he wakes up confused and unsure of where he is, and it takes hours for his body and mind to calm down. Yeah, go ahead and tell him that he's faking it. Go fuck yourself.
@Chris66able8 жыл бұрын
Razzy1312 Nah he's just a mental case. PTSD sufferers or as they are better known ' Pansies '. Now go and shit your bed.
@Razzy13128 жыл бұрын
You obviously have not done any combat service yourself or don't have any friends who are actually in the military and have been deployed and actually saw combat. I can't say PTSD doesn't exist - because I know people who went on deployment in 2003 who came back as almost completely different people, mentally fucked by the shit they saw.
