When I was in 5th grade my teacher, Mr. Tucker had us read this book. Our school was a charter school and a lot of the kids came from low income families. Mr. Tucker reached out to Sandra Cisneros and actually got her to visit our school and our class! She read a portion of the book to us. She also spoke about her writing and answered questions about the book. This book always held a special place in my heart, along with that teacher.

Having to write a book report for a College class (Children and adolescents literature). I was excited to find this book in my daughters things, This is a great book! I read this when I was in middle school, and love how it was one of the first books in its time that I could relate with. Thank you for the audiobook I can listen while I am in traffic :)

While everyone keeps talking about how they hate reading and repeating comments for likes, does no one realize how tragically sad this book is?? How messed up society is and how much abuse and toxicity is displayed in this book? It just feels very insensitive to be talking about your English assignments and how you were going to fail without this video when this book is on such heavy topics. But what do I expect from a bunch of children 🤦🏽‍♀️
