They took 2 of 3 in New York against the formerly hot Mets and finished the month of June with the best record in all of baseball (17-8). #Astros #HoustonAstros #MLB #Mets #NewYorkMets #NYMets

Are you gonna mention they had the best record of all of baseball in June.

It seems like since jose abreu is gone this team is playing like the Houston Astros we all love to see...when he was on the team it felt like he was a jinx to the team

Hard to win when one guy is an automatic out. You only get 27 and he was a guarantee for 4 of them and most likely a double play in the mix.
@harryvoigt5217Ай бұрын
The Mets would have had that honor if they had won the game. Great job Astros.

Let's not forget that Diaz is a plus speed wise for a catcher. Maldy even when he did get on base, clogged the bases and couldn't score from second on a single.
@worldtraveler721Ай бұрын
Maldonado was carrying a piano on his back running the bases 🤦♀️

Yeah that missed walk was hilarious. It did it once in a HS game and they told me not to come back the next week. Apparently, HS sports have higher standards than the majors.

LMC Jr is like Bigfoot to me. people keep saying they see him pitching and his comeback is real but the only evidence I’ve got to go off of is HEB commercials.

Yainer has started knocking in runs like Yuli used to do. Dumping the cancerous Abreu was a little late happening.

I predicted this team would finish with 85 wins, not great but in contention for a wild card spot. I will admit after April and May I didn't expect them to reach that goal. Now I'm back to that prediction. They were never as bad of a team as they were in April, but they aren't this good either. 500ish teams do tend to balance things out.
@freezy8593Ай бұрын
They can easily reach 90 wins, a record which would contend for the divisional title. I believe the Astros could quite possibly make it to 95 wins if they concentrate 1 game at a time and play as a team.
@freezy8593Ай бұрын
From looking at the Astros' schedule for the month, 4 of the 8 teams have less than a .500 record from last month, indicating either bad/ slumping teams. This would be the opportunity for the Astros to pick up some easy wins from the Blue Jays, Marlins, Rangers, and Athletics. If the Astros manage to sweep these 4 teams, they'll have won 13 games already. 3 of the teams are playing average baseball with a 14-12 and 15-12 record from June. If the Astros can manage to take 2 games from the Twins, Mariners, and Pirates, they'll add another 6 wins placing them at 19 wins and 3 losses. The only real hard team the Astros have is the Dodgers sporting a record of 16-10 from June. Even if the Astros only win 1 game, they will have a 20-5 record for the month which would place them at 62 and 46. This would mean that they have 55 games left to win 33 games which is a .6 win rate; something doable. That would require the Astros to play consistent baseball like June, but I do believe it is possible since the Astros are recuperating from injuries.
@reaverofjillsandwichesАй бұрын
@@freezy8593 I'm sticking with 85 wins.
@freezy8593Ай бұрын
@@reaverofjillsandwiches If the Astros continue to play at the rate of June, it is reasonable to assume a possible record of 96-67 or 97-66 due to the decimal in wins-losses being 96.4-66.6 when calculating.

I know that some people have a soft spot for McCullers in the rotation, but for the amount of games that he has missed I don't see how the Astros couldn't use him for a trade if he is that "good".

I told coworkers. Don't count them out. Wait till the A.S break and see where they stand. In 2021 the Braves broke 500 in early Sept. And won the W.S. against the Astros and several 100 win teams. Which means very little in baseball.

Diaz is hitting >.400 in his last 9 games and has an 11 game hitting streak, 41 RBIs now, tied with Alvarez for #1 on the team. In the 7 game winning streak that they just had, he led the team in RBIs. He was also 5 for 10 with a 1.162 OPS, 4 RBIs and 5 runs in the sweep against the Orioles. Espada could have been using Tucker all along at clean up, but Diaz is producing there now. That keeps Espada from rotating guys who don't belong in that spot. That was hurting the team. So Diaz hitting there gives Espada even more lineup flexibility. I still think it should be Tucker or Alvarez in that spot, but for now that Tucker is out and we are still short a player who should have produced in the middle/cleanup (Jose Abreu), Diaz hitting there means that for the FIRST TIME THIS SEASON, the Astros have a clean up hitter that is producing. Yainer Diaz put together a great month of June: 20 G, .363 BA, .952 OPS, 3 2B, 3B, 4 HR, 18 RBI The Astros went 15-5 in those 20 games.
@1TightMinuteАй бұрын
@@worldtraveler721 yeah but he is still not slugging .700. for reference, Ohtani is slugging .640
@worldtraveler721Ай бұрын
@1TightMinute in the last 7 games, his SLG% is .621. But my point is that Diaz is doing this in the cleanup spot. That's where Abreu should have been producing for the team and instead it's Diaz in his sophomore season and 1st year as a full time starting catcher. His contribution to the team, if you look at the stats I listed, is great.
@1TightMinuteАй бұрын
@@worldtraveler721 I never said it wasn’t. If you listen to the time stamp I’m talking about the fact that John said he was slugging .700 and that wasn’t all that great. I guess he said slugging when he meant ops. Idk. However, if he were slugging .700 then that would be historic.
