It's fascinating to watch the regression of John's intellect through the years, from his appearances on the Stern Show, to his bits on Leno, to his early podcasting "career" trying to suck up to Cumia, to his current public humiliation with the WATP/Dabbleverse shit. He had his stocks and real estate ventures from his time on the show, he did appearances and made a nice chunk during his 20s and 30s, he claimed he made a million before he was 30 which I find plausible. He then had like a 2.5 million dollar contract with Jay Leno over a 5 year period. For John to have to beg for money after all he had is mind boggling, how did he lose all of that?
@PJxBuchwild2 жыл бұрын
@Coon Hunter#1 He's never going to make that much money ever again. John had an opportunity where lightning struck twice and he was making a lot of bank after leaving the show. I'd be curious to know how much he has left, I know he must've blown a ton in California and lost another fortune in the divorce. He might only have a net worth of a couple hundred thousand which given his previous earnings is insanely low.
@PJxBuchwild2 жыл бұрын
@Coon Hunter#1 The 2 biggest factors are how much he lost in the divorce and with child support, and how much he was clearing in California. When he worked for Leno he was living in a mansion so even with that contract he had I can't imagine he was able to bank much extra.

John had two choices. 1. If he really hated being the underling to Stern, he could go out and try to make his career on his own OR 2. Shut up, be appreciative, take the harsh criticism and take advantage of the opportunities given. Both easier said than done. John could still be on the Stern show today if he'd been smart. Instead he got used by the Tonight Show to make Howard look bad. Kind of a shame. Richard and Sal get boatloads of insults but they're loved by the fans and now riding out into the sunset with yhe show

This is a perfect example of why John didn’t become successful after Howard. Yeah Howard is roasting him but John also has one of the most popular radio show DJs mentioning his show (basically giving it free promo) and instead of going with it, he takes it to heart. He was terribly insecure, didn’t know his limitations and didn’t know how to leverage his image. Any image or fame can be leveraged in entertainment, even being the loser.

Of course John did not heed the advice of one of the most successful people in the history of radio and was fired from his radio show. A few years later they gave him an hour long show at noon, which John prerecorded during Howard’s show. John made the PD promise that he wouldn’t fire him this time. @@Buckets50 I think by then Frazier had started, produced by the same people. They put their best writers on it and wings lost their upward thrust. Gilbert had been on a couple times by then.
