Ew, thats so unsanitary, the big difference between washing by hand and using a dishwasher is the sink water doesnt get as hot to where it can actually kill germs or if it does get super hot our skin cant handle it, why do you think restaurants use dishwashers? Its because they actually get clean and you can have the water on a high heat to actually kill germs, also dishwashers use the same amount of water, with hand washing you are using more water

This will never stop being funny too me. It captured my childhood as I grew up in America with two different cultures and one of the biggest things that confused me was why we never used the dishwasher but all my American friends tend to whenever I’m over. I’m an adult now and I came back to this video and it’s just as funny as when I originally saw the clip. My grandmother is visiting for the week and I caught her grandmother using the dishwasher today only to later find out she was using it as a drying rack...

@matthewkim8158
@matthewkim8158 7 жыл бұрын
Wrong. The majority of Dishwashers should have the water temperature at 110 degrees (or higher, no lower). This will sanitize and kill bacteria (if your food comes off in the dishwasher, you have a good dishwasher. If it still remains, then your dishwasher is probably old, or cheap, however, the dishes are still sanitized regardless of food particles being present or not), thus making it the most sanitary way to clean your dishes. If you are to wash your dishes the traditional way, in the sink, you are to fill the sink up w/ water (and dish soap). The water should be at 71 - 75 degrees when washing. Rinsing the dishes should be at 81 degrees or higher (no lower). It's actually best to fill the sink w/ hot water and allow the dishes to soak for a minute or two before starting to wash them. Depending on the dish soap you buy (some kill bacteria, some do not), you should always wash and rinse dishes in HOT water, never cold, as this does not kill all the bacteria - regardless of how "clean" they may look. Also, running the hot water and putting soap into the sponge is a waste of dish soap (if you have good dish soap, like Dawn, you do not need a lot of soap), and is not as effective cleaning as filling the sink w/ water. I sound like a friggin' sales person... ALSO, if you use a sponge or dishrag when doing your dishes, you must ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS rinse and wring the rag/sponge out till there are no longer soap sods coming from the rag/sponge, might take multiple times. Your rag/sponge should be damp after finishing the dishes. Not wringing the rag/sponge out all the way leads to bacteria growing within the rag or sponge. So when that sponge/rag smells soured... there's the reason why. So wring it out so good that your hand hurts. Same w/ clothes. If you leave your clothes in the washer and forget to take them out, then they smell somewhat sour, you should either re-wash them. If they're towels or whites, you can probably just do a hot rinse and spin. Cleaning 101 :-0 Never put wood, or your pots in pans in the dishwasher (regardless if they say Dishwasher safe). Anything WOOD, the tempature of the dishwasher is too high for the wood, thus, water/steam will seap into the pores of the wood, which will allow mold to grow (ever see your wood spoon and there are random black spots that isn't burn marks - that's mold). Putting your pots and pans in the dishwasher can either warp your pots and pans, or in time wear down the structure of the pan which allows eat to be evenly distributed. If you have cheap pots and pans, you should always hand wash them.

This reminds me of a Chinese student who visited our school and talked about how unhygienic it is to not wash the plates by hands. Didn't know the Chinese didn't like dish-washers in general!
@musingsofajay387

actually dish washers are best. it heats everything up at the same temperature and it actually saves water if you fill it up before pressing start. or at least from what ive glanced over on google. washing by hand is not better than machine in my opinion. and dont generalize chinese ppl for not liking them just beacuse of that one chinese person
@Toyon95
@Toyon95 7 жыл бұрын
The student held a presentation about China and he asked us how many of us preferred a dish-washer and tried to make a cultural comparison I think- and the video made me remember that and I thought it was interesting. But at the end I don't really care if people use a dish- washer or not but I think it's probably easier to save water if you wash by hand (depending on your technique)

I’m Latino. My mom must be part chinese cuz she ALWAYS made us wash things by hand to “teach us hard work”. I love her. We used our dishwasher as a drying rack, she said it “used too much energy”…It wasn’t until I married a white girl that dishwasher became a thing. Low key…I want my kids to learn how to wash dishes as well.

Same thing happened to me but I'm Black so no clever connection to China was used though I would've accepted the answer. I never even knew what the dishwasher did for 10+ years and when I finally learned I was told it was broken.....despite no one ever attempting to use it. I was 17 before I even got to use a dishwasher! Now I too use it as a drying rack. Wow.

If I hadn't begged to use the oven for my baking (my bread-and-butter pudding is well-loved), my family would still be using it as a drying rack/storage space/medicine cabinet. Don't even mention the dishwasher. My parents swear we 'don't own one'. I'm not sure how dumb they think my brother and I are, because the controls are clearly there. I'm sure that's where they keep the booze/nice plates and silverware from their wedding.

Hardly anyone has dishwashers in my country, when my sister got one in her new house after moving to America she just uses it to dry and store wears cus she said it doesn't take out all the food esp in big pots. We use our ovens as storage space but we also bake a lot of stuff in them.

My hand got really itchy and the skin started peeling off after I went to uni and start washing dishes everyday. Turned out I was sensitive to washing detergent. Learnt how to use the dishwasher. It's more hygienic, saves time and water, and it does a better job as you are not using the same dirty sponge to wipe the dishes. People who uses the washing machine or any modern technology ever, and says it's lazy doesn't realise how ironic it is.

It does take too much time like an hour with dishwasher, 30 minutes or less by hand. It takes TOO much hot water and time to wash with dishwasher, and you still have to dry the dishes with a dry cloth afterwards due to too much water and there could still be stains left after washing, meaning a rewash is needed after 1 hour. And dishwasher detergent is more expensive than the regular you get at 99 cent or dollar store and might not clean the dishes 100%. My family never used it, but I tried using the dishwasher at the house we used to rent. Time(an hour or more to wash with machine and a probable need to rewash by hand later), & money(dishwasher detergent are 4 times more expensive than regular detergent at 99¢ store here where I live!) are not needed but wasted with a dishwasher. And the electric bill went up a lot with AC, etc...
