My favorite part of this movie is that despite him falling for her, and even after seeing she's interested in someone else, Quasimodo not only helps her to protect her lover despite his pain but encourages them to be together in the end. He really is the sweetest boy. 🥺

The whole story is about "who is the monster and who is the man" between Quasimodo and Frollo so this is another parallel between them on how they both deal with the woman they want not being romantically interested in them.

@@travisboutilier2220 It would be super out of character for him to do that. Quasimodo's biggest trait is his kindness to others even when Frollo teaches him to hate others and himself. In his eyes, having Esmeralda as a friend is more than enough for him.

As a Romani, it felt good that we had some sort of representation in mainstream media. They also directly spoke out against the negative stereotypes, like being thieves and witches. Plus, she kinda was my first fictional crush.

lol me too, everything about her is just perfect. She's brave, quick-thinking, compassionate, and has a strong moral compass that gets her through everything. And the way they animated her hair is beautiful. Can't blame Frollo too much considering that Quasimodo and Phoebus liked her too

I love this movie. The last hand-drawn Disney animation I think I’ve seen before everything went 3D. It was such an experience. I remember being so immersed watching this in the movies as a kid. And I can still sing the entire soundtrack for this movie.

I saw this in the theatre back in 1996. I was nine years old at the time. It was such a dark but beautiful movie. It remains one of my all time favourite movies and introduced me to its author Victor Hugo. I highly recommend everyone read as many as his novels as you can!

@@darkbloom6276 yeah but you have to mess with some post processing effects or else it will look stretched and full of ugly artifacts I'd recommend ESRGAN or Topaz instead. I personally prefer ESRGAN because it has more options to fiddle with but I haven't touched Topaz in a while, maybe it's better now

Doesn't it kind of spit on the point of the movie when she chooses the handsome guy in the end? Edit: You know the guy that's been enforcing Frodo's law this entire time until he saw Esmeralda thought she was hot and that's when he decided to betray Frodo. Yet she chooses him? Like she can say the Hunchback is just as valid as everyone else but she still chooses the guy who's probably killed a bunch of gypsies because he's good looking. That's always bothered me and I don't understand why they did that. They've already deviated from the book a lot so that can't be the reason.
