2:47 It was explained better in the books. When a child turns 12 their name is entered one time. The next year the child’s name is entered twice. At 18, the child’s name is entered seven times. All of those are cumulative. That is across-the-board, all districts, all children. However, poorer children can put their name in an additional time for some additional food. They can also do this once for each additional member of their family. So, when Katniss turned 12, her name was entered four times. Once, because it was mandatory and three more times for extra food for herself, her sister and her mother. Gail has multiple younger siblings and has been the primary/sole provider for food for himself, his mom and his siblings. The same bomb that killed Katniss‘s father, killed Gale’s

3:34, The Mockingjays were in fact NOT created in a lab 😅. They were actually an accidental result of crossbreeding between both normal mockingbirds and the actual genetically engineered animals (Muttations) known as the Jabberjays when the latter was released into the wild. The Gamemakers and Capitol heads actually viewed that result as an unfortunate mistake on their part. Add on to the fact that the book described how the Jabberjays eventually became a problem for The Capitol when during the first rebellion, the rebels used the Muttations' vocal abilities against them. Plus, the Mockingjays themselves are used as a symbol of defiance and disorder in The Hunger Games franchise do to the contexts behind their birthing.

On mercy killing Cato, Katniss did do that in the book, but only the next morning. It was too dark to see him at night and the mutts dragged him into the Cornucopia, torturing him the whole night. They had to listen to Cato’s cries the whole night until they dragged him back out the next morning. Patiently waiting for your reactions to the sequels! The dynamic of having read the book, but it being a long time ago and not remembering everything works great for reaction content. Great stuff guys!

Have you guys watched the Mazer Runner movies? It's *the* dystopian trilogy that will keep you at the edge of your seats. It has great visuals (also less cgi compared to the hunger games), cast, and pretty unique sense of realism overall

I wish the movie included Cato grieving the knife-throwing girl's death. It reminded me that he was not only human but also a child when I read the books.

I agree. But I also like the added monologue they gave him near the end of the movie. Basically him becoming completely disillusioned with the thing he'd spent his entire life for, believing it to be some grand, epic, fun thing that showcases "true strength" or whatever. But then by the end of the movie he's devolved into this, and you can see now he's just mentally broken at both this realization and the fact that all of his friends and Clove (the knife throwing girl) whom he may or may not have liked as more than a friend, are dead. You can even see how he slights the games at the end, jokingly asking "oh is that what they want?" while turning his head around, as if searching for some hidden camera when he delivers the line. It's powerful. I've always thought that I'd love a book or movie about the Hunger Games, but told from Cato's point of view. I think that would be incredibly interesting and a great story. Seeing his mindset change so drastically, and his worldview be entirely destroyed would be really impactful and sad. Like, despite the horrible things he did, I can't help but feel for the guy. At the end of the day, he's a kid who was manipulated by the capitol.

@@AnimeSimp234he’s quite interesting, cos the movie actually humanised him more in the end. In the book he was still convinced he could win. He had Peeta in the headlock, but he was smiling at Katniss and was banking on her not shooting so he could use Peetas body as a shield and throw them both over. I liked that the movie expanded on Cato and showed the mental toll the games took on him. At the start of the games he was in a big group, and all ready to take everyone out and receive the praise of being a victor. By the end he’s alone, terrified and realised that the capitol actually don’t give a damn about him. In the book, it’s implied that Cato had been running for hours from those mutts.

OMG Hi Galaxy Geeks I’m A huge a fan by the way I love your movie reactions so much keep up the good work, i haven’t seen the first hunger games movie before, my thoughts on this movie it reminds of the history and based on the book even what’s happened around them and I think they should find out what’s happening and who is involved, I feel really bad for the people, it made feel so bad . I can’t not wait to see your reactions soon.

I read Songbirds when it first came out. It's wasn't a bad read, but falls well short of the others. First of all, it's a prequel, so we know where it's heading from the start. I usually don't do prequels, as they are generally just unnecessary backstory and filler that can do more harm than good the the original story lines. No spoilers in case you haven't read it yet. There was such a long time between this and the other books, I almost got the feeling it was written just to be made into a film. It's not a terrible book and only a little over 500 pages, so about an 8 hour time investment. I'll wait for the film to hit the stream before wasting time and money at the theater for this one.
