I see this in BJJ a lot. Nicky Rod and Garry Tonon will block the knees and, when they have space on the opposing side of the return, they'll do a forward roll or a granby.

Any way this can be adapted to jiu jitsu or for street self defence where there’s no time restrictions?

Can I ask why ? There is already point when u on ur knees and you can defend ur self better there. But when u stand up you give chance 4 point actually he has more options when u stand up.

Obviously there are trade offs. Some guys are great at mat returns standing with a lock, but others rely heavily on breaking you down before you get to your feet and they rely on access to your hands to do it. You see it all the time, guys with reputations for being good on top that fight like hell to keep the ride going, but if their opponent gets to the feet, they just cut them loose.

@@Darwinistnope I dont see it always. Am 27 years old and I have 19 years experience in wrestling. (Do u know Haji Aliyev ?) These guys on video can teach only children.

@@NurlanUp-if8uk 27 years wrestling and you don't see it? Do you know how many years Wade Shalles has in wrestling, and who has beaten? If Wade Shalles is teaching it then it is worth a listen and an attempt to learn it.
