I trained Krav Maga in Tel Aviv back in 2004 with some of the best. My best memory from this trip was when I sat in the sauna in Saviyon country club talking international affairs with some really high placed guys on a friday right before shabbath. And visiting the old city in Jerusalem. The arab vendors didn't bother us because I was in company of some scary looking Krav Maga instructors. Or eating charcoal grilled kebabs after training st the Tel Aviv market. I can keep talking memories from that trip forever. Israel is a wonderful place!

I'm lucky that I had krav maga at high school in Czech Republic and our teacher had krav maga certification from Israel... and he also teaches soldiers and police officers, he has 30 years of experiences from all kind of martial arts 💪💪💪💪

I’d really like to see video of that exercise where team members are made to stand in a line and the dude at the back has to fight his way to the front while everyone else tries to stop him. It was described in a book by a former Duvdevan operator, and it sounded intense.

IDF Israeli Defence Forces I Salute you! and your krav Maga fighting style is Awsome! a no-nonsense aproach to street fighting suitable for anyone regardles of size, weight, height, and strength, Designed to take anyone down or knock-em out! rendering them unconcious. krav maga moto - if you cant hurt a bigger stronger guy during a fight no problem, aim to the softer target areas like throat, eyes, solar plexes, testicles, kicks to- knee caps kicks to inside thighs and so on. style is aggressive and easy to learn and easy to adapt. RESPEC! ISREAL I SALUTE YOU ! Cooljay...

With the armor, this looks much safer than kickboxing and Muay Thai sparring. Whenever I do kickboxing and MT sparring, I always get worried if I will get brutally injured, and when you get hit or kicked, it is indeed really painful...

Unless u allow head contact then it's all irelavent ! . I'm not saying everyone should do 200rounds of boxing but certainly 5 rounds would teach you the golden rule of chin in hands high . I know a west end of London ex boxer adapted judo and boxing to become what is today's Krav Maga in the 30s&40s so surprised the basic boxing concept of chin in hands high has been forgotten

I love how the idf decided to have competitions of km. That it's possible because the soldiers have two things: the nessesary skills to apply in a match, and balls to fight even if they can loose. This contrast with the commercial krav maga (any krav maga teached outside the idf, it doesn't matter if your instructor is an ex military or a certified instructor in israel, or both), that sistems never will prepare a student to preassure test his skills against a full ressistance opponent. If they do that the classes will be more difficult for the vast mayority of people beacause they'll have to put much more effort on the training in order to see results (apply the techniques under real preasure). If the commercial km does this things they will be risking themsefes to lose students (and money). The idf can't lose students, the soldiers can not skip the hand to hand combat if they are not interested in that. PD: note how many people from all ages starts and abandon the practice of combat sports in a short period of time (beacause hard training and non inmediate results, among other things). I'm not saying that self defense classes are easy, but in order to have more students (and earn more money) a lot of sistems changes their training methodology for others. Easiers but much less realistics. That's the reason because combat sports are far more superior for street defense than the 97% of self defense sistems (including km). They have really BIG limitations, but they're 0% bullshit.

I almost always see KM practitioners insist that KM is not for competition, and that Sport KM is not true KM. Is there any truth to this? If so, is their a way to modify KM so that it can be for sport or must it be purely for the "street" situations?

Well I really do not like the competition part of it. The over safety only give you a relaxed attitude and does not promote true learning and training. However, the other incorporation self defense techniques and drills used with full gear do make military fighting more realistic. Instead of just target shooting. With the overall more of a stand up drills where both training partners being aggressive and submissive for safety purposes, you get a pretty good awareness how to shift from H2H to using your rifle for shooting scenarios and the necessity to do so.
@adir999
@adir999 10 жыл бұрын
well don't forget those are soldiers of the idf and after the competition they will need to be in top shape to guard Israel so I think youl agree that the IDF don't need or want its soldiers to get injured specially for a competition. if it was regular people sure why not they can take a week at home after but soldiers cant :)
@KravMagaIDFTopExpert
@KravMagaIDFTopExpert 10 жыл бұрын
adir999 Unfortunately it appears that the rules and the protective gear of the competition resemble the training methods in these days. In Judo, a rather safe competition, the loser is being taking out of balance and at times being pinned to the ground. This does not not promote the building of the defense capability against the myriad of striking kicking and plucking options of someone that is wearing just clothes. Originally Sparring in Krav Maga was done in a way that facilitate a controlled exposure to the complete set of possibilities. The safety was instilled by teaching the soldiers how to control the force of their strikes but yet making them create the sufficient desired effect of taking someone "out of balance". Like any other weapon that has advantages and disadvantages based on its size, weight range, and damage capabilities, the Human Weapon has a unique capability and should be used in its optimal capability.

Loves, no slaughterhouse on earth is worse than hell. Any human who does not accept JESUS as their LORD will not be saved from hell. It is your choice to go to hell because your sin landed you there or be saved by GOD through JESUS. HE is waiting for you. HE loves you and is willing to heal you if you were to ask HIM to save you. I bless you all with humility to accept this in the name of JESUS,,,

Why so much padding? I could understand if this was a civilian competition but for Soldiers this can be a hindrance. When I was a Soldier we never used a lot of protective gear. We used mouthpieces, groin protection, MMA gloves, and duty uniform for H2H. I've training Krav Maga for awhile to add to my other training but I've never seen the use in this type of heavily padded sparring.
@sebc2s
@sebc2s 8 жыл бұрын
+Gezere9 Because Krav Maga emphasizes aggression like he said. Wasn't designed around opponent being able to fight back.
@Gezere9
@Gezere9 8 жыл бұрын
+sebc2s The padding allows the opponent to fight back, which you is really hard to stop unless you catch them by surprise, so they are not training how they intend to fight. As I said when I was in the Army, where I was also a Combatives Instructor, we didn't use this much padding.
@AAAA-xm9xb
@AAAA-xm9xb 8 жыл бұрын
+Gezere9 because if they didn´t used the padding, a lot of soldiers would get badly injured for practically nothing.
@Gezere9
@Gezere9 8 жыл бұрын
Alvaro Ayque I'm sure they have health care like we did. It's not for nothing because competition is a great motivator to spur training and in turn make better fighters and Soldiers. The discipline and training that makes good fighters is also what makes good Soldiers. Also that much padding takes away from the training affect.
@AAAA-xm9xb
@AAAA-xm9xb 8 жыл бұрын
I know that much padding takes that away, but my point is that such thing is preferable over unnecessary injuries.

@DJDKthebestdj
@DJDKthebestdj 8 жыл бұрын
+Alvaro Ayque only weak people think that the only way not to be stomped is to stomp others. The technics are good, i don't question it, but this philosophy is what causes most of mankind stupidity. It is called an "inferiority complex", and that's destructive and sterile. I practice Chinese martial arts, because there you do not learn to consider the world as a foe. i'm maybe extrapolating on what the master is saying here, but it is what i see in your aggressive language.
@DJDKthebestdj
@DJDKthebestdj 8 жыл бұрын
+Alvaro Ayque in fact, it is true that krav maga is good for a soldier, which i am not
@AAAA-xm9xb
@AAAA-xm9xb 8 жыл бұрын
i am also not a soldier, nor i fully agree with their perspective. Israel has to have an agressive army, since they are always in conflict (although a lot are caused by them). I don´t see the world as my enemy, nonetheless i do think that in this world i will encounter enemies. And you can solve conflicts without violence and i have, but i practice Krav Maga in order that when the day comes in which i will have to fight an enemy, i will end him rightly.
@DJDKthebestdj
@DJDKthebestdj 8 жыл бұрын
I understand, yet when I see how my art, through time, influences my way of thinking, I tend to fear that an agressive martial art produces agressive martial artists. That might be wrong tho :)
