Some really good work Michael, glad to see it was a successful ECU swap: you must have an electronics background to do all that me thinks! 🙂

Not really. I have worked in computers my whole life. I just kinda learn it as I go along. Having a strong troubleshooting background is probably what it is. The tools to troubleshoot this stuff are pretty simple and as long as you can find the pin outs its not too hard.

I've been through much of this back in the day. IAC issues plague all 80s models. The actual fix is to place a penny into the IACs path into the intake manifold. The air is metered via an incrementally sized hole drilled through the penny, which is clamped with a third hose clamp in the middle.

I went a bit of a different route.

@@fortheloveofcarz Yes, great work! Stay true, man. When's the turbo coming?

Given the impossibility to get local parts its taking a bit longer than I expected. lol You will see pieces start to show up as early as next week maybe?

Nice work man! Looking forward to the turbo 😀😀

Me too!!!

definitely running better than the day it came out of the factory. Even motronic 1.3 still had an AFM, MS uses MAF, plus all of the tuneability, yeah no comparison.

Great job. But i see your "service interval" reset connector and harness lying on the floor. How do you gonna fix that reset now? 😄On the thermostat housing you have got 2 temp sensors. One is for the ECU and the other for the gauge in your instrument cluster. Most bmw's work that way. Any way; it runs very good! Well done.
@fortheloveofcarz10 ай бұрын
Good to know about the temp sensor. I cut one of the wires for that connector at some point.... I have to figure out where it runs. I'm pretty sure the service interval has the battery issue in the cluster so even when the plugs were there reset did basically nothing. I'll figure something out or just pull the lights eventually. lol

@@fortheloveofcarz we use such a cheap tool for the service interval to give it a reset using the connector (bought that peace in the early '90s for my own e30 325i touring). Batteries should be changed and cleaned in it's area. Nah...we don't pull the lights.....we fix it..😉

General question: whilst this e23 has been excellent for creating content (ie lots of issues/ things to modify 😄) did you search out an e23 or did this car find you?

I wanted this car. Its one of my favorites. I'm not sure I could throw this much cash at it if it was just for KZfaq. lol Especially since before this week I wasn't monetized at all. now I'm making 18 cents a day!!!! ill make the cash back in a couple 100 years. I wont take on projects on this channel just for KZfaq until they can pay for themselves. and it will be a while I'm guessing. lol I think the next project will be some sort of drag and drive car. Not sure what platform yet.

@@fortheloveofcarz congrats on the 18 cents, we all have to start somewhere! 😄😄👍

You're going to be ostracized, you provided video evidence that the turn singals do work on a BMW. 😅

Yeah I might need the witness protection program now lol
