The Iliad is an epic poem, written by Homer, that covers the quarrels and fighting near the end of the Trojan War. The story opens nine years into the war, which basically started because Paris, son of King Priam of Troy, kidnapped Helen from Menelaus, a Greek and brother of Agamemnon, King of Mycenae.
Here in the part-1 there has been discussed about The Background of the epic,Characters of the epic and The Themes of the epic.

Is the Iliad an epic poem written by Homer? Homer was blind, and even today, with all modern means, writing to blind people is a real challenge. Homer did not write anything because he transmitted his poems orally.
