The biggest issue with art aka masterworks, is the pool of investors is limited so it takes a while for an art piece to sell so it's basically a glorified bond. We might over come this by selling your share to some other users but at that point we are talking NFTs so yea this shit isn’t for the average joe

The semi shortage is in the low end chip market. Not in the PC market. Think the CPU in your microwave, this is where the shortage is. So things like PC shipments have absolutely nothing to do with it. You should do further research on the topic
@Allen-L-Canada
@Allen-L-Canada Жыл бұрын
yes, this is the point most of the media are confused. Computer CPUs' demand are actually falling sharply after covid, it's the low end chips (> 18NM) are in shortage. Intel builds those fabs are primarily for those low end chips.

True that Semiconductor Industry is cyclical, but you are wrong that there is glut. You just skimmed this industry. Lots of the demand is not just GPU's. GPUs are in demand because some cyrptocompany horded the GPU's. Lots of other types of semiconductors such as sensors are still in demand.

Fabulous analysis of Masterworks prospects. However, US analysts seem to be fixated about the 'coming depression' and it colours your semiconductor analysis as well. Demand is staying strong across the world in spite of all the headwinds with continuing good earnings in most sectors. Semiconductor mnfg has a strong immediate future imho.

There is a chip shortage but there are to many kind of semiconductor and there is no real shortage on most of them. What could really bring the shortage back in some areas is the recent export control the us passed. The chips in cars are not as high end as the ones that are in your pc so they are more easily produced. Because of the Oligopoly and near zero real competition they will adjust the manufacturing and keep profits high. So in conclusion there are still shortages but for specific chips and there is no doubt that chips will be in ever more products,so i personally believe the semiconductor market still is and will be a good long term investment.
@GerbenWulff
@GerbenWulff Жыл бұрын
Most export controls will only become active in a year. This will guarantee another year of high demand for high-end chips from hoarding Chinese. And a crash after that.

Fwiw, the increased demand for GPUs was *not* caused by Bitcoin miners. Nobody uses GPUs to mine Btc. Ethereum miners are the ones who drove up GPU demand (though Ethereum mining no longer works on GPUs).

silicon is going to get cheaper. always does. like you say.. prices are back to pre fed cash pumping of a few years ago... this is quite good as its already unwound the nuts P/E that the rest of the S&P has to go through. no chance that the bottom is in. buying while still going down is a risky and bally move. wait for the start of a reversal. you might miss a few % points but you will protect your capital. as for new fabs, they will be more highly automated than ever before. so intel is right to ditch 1000s of staff. they are just not needed anymore in a highly automated factory. their profit margins are still pretty high. over 50%. ratios that other sectors would dream of.

Hi, You are doing a great work and I have a great amount of admiration about all your work. But I have a different take on this, I believe that Semiconductor Industry may not give good or any retunes in long team, since Government's across the Globe have realized the importance of Semiconductor and the need for self-dependence on it, hence these Government's have invested heavily in this sectors, which in turn will lead to increased supply of the good in the market which will dramatically affect the product price thus the stock`s will tank a lot. Once again, Thank you very much for the all the great work you are doing, please accept my granitite from Bangalore (India). Regards, Sid.
