A new painting today!
So, I have to sadly admit that the lighting in my studio combined with the painting laying flat doesn’t do it justice!
While it is soft and muted, there is a lot of interest and movement!
The importance of creating a focal point is something to pay attention to when creating art that you plan to show in a gallery! If there isn’t much of a focal point the painting can loose interest. Think about where the eyes will land and where they are pulled to. In my paintings it’s around the negative space, but can be a person, a tree, another object depending on the subject!
I enjoy touching up parts of the painting. Years ago I was afraid to touch the final product but trusted my intuition over time and confidence built in making the painting sharper and cleaner.
As a reminder…
My colander paints are all mixed the same..
1 part paint
2-3 parts floetrol
Drizzle of liquitex pouring medium
Water to thin
The black paint is mixed slightly differently…
1 part paint
4-5 parts floetrol
Drizzle of liquitex pouring medium
Water to thin
Remember, these are suggestions and a guide but don’t worry about being completely perfect in measuring. Just make sure all of your consistencies are the same! Don’t be afraid to add water!
Have a great weekend!
