I remember the first shiny I caught while playing Pokemon Gold back in the day. It was a Red Gyarados just sittin' there in the middle of the Lake of Rage.

The thing about mirage island is too, the fact that a lot of people probably saw it their first time going through and didn’t even know it’s rarity or even stopped to look at it

My first full-odds shiny ever in a Pokemon game was a shiny zubat on Pokemon Emerald in 2004. I'll never forget how confused I was when I saw a green version of Zubat. I legitimately thought something was _wrong_ with my game. Didn't help matters that I had also recently gotten PokeRus around that time and thought all of my Pokemon were going to die lol

I will never forget when I found a shiny Quagsire in Pokémon soul silver in the ruins of of alph, the problem was I didn’t had a single ball with me. I literally stayed 30 minutes looking at the screen in suffering knowing that I would not be able to capturing it, still breaks my heart to this day

Slugma when I was a young child ❤️ I was scared, not understanding what happened to my game. I threw my one ultra ball I had (my only ball) at full health.. and caught it!! I stared at it forever, wondering. Kids on my playground explained what it was and begged me to trade it to them. I still have it as shiny macargo and it will always have a special place in my heart ❤️

Playing Legends Arceus brings back some good memories. Especially shiny hunting, just seeing them while roaming or hearing the chime and not knowing where the Pokémon is. I still freak out lol.

When I was like 7 I found a shiny gold caterpie in my copy of leaf green in the grass across nugget bridge. I killed it on accident because I had just reordered my Ivysaur’s moves and switched sleep powder with an attack. I still remember this vividly almost 20 years later. None of my friends believed me, it was before any of us knew shiny Pokémon were even a thing

I must admit, this video made me cry. I love this franchise so much! My first shiny was found on Mt coronet in the snowy bit. It was a Snover. This was like 15 years ago but I'll never forget sitting on the couch in the family room in front of the TV. it was early afternoon. I was trying to find spear pillar but I was lost. While wondering around i stumbled into a weird Snover. It's hands were blue and it had a weird sparkly animation. I had no idea what a shiny was at the time but I remember thinking "I have to catch this!". I only had 3 Ultra balls and it broke out of all of them. Since then I've spent thousand of hours looking for these sparkly monsters and I have over 1000 in my Pokémon home and a few hundred in Pogo. A few years back I retuned to Mt Coronet in hopes of finding my long lost snowman and was able to reunite with him. He was all grown up and put on some weight but sparkled just the same.

I remember my first shiny was a Shiny Zubat on Emerald. That Pink Crobat ending the battle against Wallace is something I can still vividly remember to this day.

I remember the first time i found that super rare island. I remember being like "oh what, i didnt know this island was here" i explored for a bit i caught a wynaut, then was like "i need more balls so i can see whats in the grass here" so i leave the island never to see it again despite much effort to find it. When I told my friends at school they laughed at me and made me think I dreamed it up. I thought I did for years.

My first shiny was a karrablast in bw2, route 11, when I saw the sparkles I jumped and screamed "shiny", scarIng some family members who were there, following that the people present became calling me shiny for the next 2 years. You've hit the nail on the head here. This goes beyond shinies as well.. The encounters that were so rare you'd end up giving up were exactly what made the pokémon games feel so alive. No matter how many hours you'd put into your game there was always more to be uncovered. The feeling i got when i finally found a honey tree Munchlax in Diamond will forever be ingraved in my memory. Used to look at Cynthias Spiritomb and Milotic and think those pokémon were so rare they were borderline unobtainable. Thats how it should feel. You are only rewarded with these cool Mons if youre willing yo put in some ridiculously hard work and the feeling you get when you finally achieve it will stay with you forever. Hate how much easier shiny hunting is now they've completely lost thier value..

As rare it is to be recognized by you, it's almost the same as encountering a shiny, and as a shiny hunter, I'll give it a shot. Upon watching this video and getting emotional at the end, I booted up Pokemon GO, sitting next to my garden, only to have my first encounter of the day be a Shiny Hoppip. I cherished every second of it, grateful for you to bring back the importance of rarities to me. Thank you.

So, Mirage Island was actually mind blowing for me as a kid. Not only did I have no idea about it prior, but rather I stumbled upon it on my way to find Rayquaza on my first playthrough of Emerald. Ever since then, I still haven't found it again, but I will always remember what a really life Lychee is because of the rare Liechi Berry I found that day. Also, other than the obvious Red Gyrados, I didn't see a shiny until Diamond where I stumbled upon a Geodude, and promptly named him Nugget.

I had a Diamond and Pearl strategy guide when I was younger that displayed a shiny Golbat, and I remember flipping to that page so many times just to admire it. When Black and White came out, I got my first shiny. It was early autumn morning on the school bus, probably a Monday since my birthday usually falls on a Friday, so I was playing pretty consistently for the weekend and I came across *the* first shiny, a shiny Purloin. I remember being so scared to lose it that I almost cried, but I caught it first try, and it stayed with me the entire game. That cart is now lost, along with the DS I played it on, but I won't forget that Purloin, and no matter how many more shiny Purloin I catch, they won't be her.

My first shiny encounter was a shiny Tentacool more than 20 years ago on Pokémon Silver. I went to see if I could Surf on the little pond inside the Day Care Center in Goldenrod, the moment I started surfing on the pound that Tentacool with blue blobs instead of red ones appeared. I thought there was something wrong with my Gameboy, so I turned it off. Spent months surfing on that same little pond to see if I could see the shiny Tentacool again, but it never appeared.

I caught my first shiny when I was a freshmen in High School back in '11. It was a shiny Boldore in Pokemon White. The sheer joy I felt, imagine hearing something only in rumors, but then one day experiencing it first hand. I didn't knew that Boldore was a trade evolution so I trained it until it almost reached 100. Because of this, I thought shinys couldn't evolve. I lost the game a few years later, must've misplaced it since I stopped playing it after finishing the game. I wish I could find it again so I could see my Shiny Boldore one last time.

i feel like this video really brings back the memories of what it's like to play pokémon as a kid. even if i did have access to the internet, it was still such a special experience and i can never forget what it was like the first time i played gen 4 and 5. my first ever shiny was a patrat in pokémon black, at some point after i beat the main game and was just walking around route 4. i may have screamed a little and my brother thought i saw a spider... but it was just a patrat :) even as my memory gets worse over time i'll never forget the memories i made playing pokémon.

Not only do I remember exactly where I was, and which Pokemon was the very first shiny that I saw (Pokemon silver version, fishing near midnight by the daycare center caught a shiny Krabby). But I also remember vividly spending hours looking for a fabled golden Ekans that my buddy swore he saw on a certain route.

I still remember my first shiny. I didn’t grow up with Pokémon and only recently started to properly play it these last few months. While playing heart gold and heading towards a patch of grass outside the safari zone, I had to go through some water first. I found a shiny tentacool, my first ever shiny and a nice one at that. I got so excited at finding my first shiny that I shouted so loud everyone in my house heard me, including my brother who I dragged into Pokémon and quietly said ‘they’ve found a shiny.’ But I accidentally one shot it with my main and never found another shiny (ignoring the garadose in the lake) despite having 60 hours on my save and grinding a ton (I’m currently working on a living dex). I know the shiny odds are gunna be high in this game since I don’t have any item to help me and they hadn’t been lowered permanently yet but you’d think I’d find another shiny after playing for about 30 hours

I'll always remember my first shiny as a bitter memory. It was when I was like 10y/o, playing Pokémon Platinum. I've been never interested in "catching them all" so when I had my full team with my 6 favourite pokemon I'd stop buying pokéballs. One day, while I was running around for whatever reason I passed through the Mount Coronet passage between Oreburgh City and Hearthome City. And then it appeared, a brown machop. I didn't know what shinies were at that time but I knew for sure machops weren't brown and that that one was special (also because of the stars animation). I quickly looked through my bag... x2 Pokeball. I had my party full of +50 lvl pokémon with all damaging moves (I was 10 :c) so I would oneshot that lvl 15 Machop with anything. I threw my first Pokeball, he got out, and then my second one, same. At that point I had to choose whether to flee and say goodbye to that Machop or Flare Blitz the shit out of him. At that point I really don't remember what happened, probably because I was having a hard time handling my emotions. I just wish him the best and hope he's happy in Mount Coronet. :(

Mirage island appeared on one of my first treks through the island area. When I was kid and still familiarizing myself with the area. So I got to the island and spent very little time there. Thinking it was just another island, since I hadn't even seen half of them yet. Left the island and kept going around to get a feel for the area. But because the island disappeared, I was left so confused direction wise. I am good with directions and having it disappear on me just left me lost in the area for a while. The game pretty much gaslit me in the worst way for me. It wasn't one of those OMG moments for me, since I did not even find out the island was a real thing until like ten years later. (No internet as a kid.) I had assumed I just remembered the island area wrong since there was nothing special about it. The only reason I even remembered it from when I was a kid. Was because of how frustrated I was. I guess now it is a cool memory but yeah...

A Masuda Zorua, in Pokemon Sword. It took me days, but I was so happy to finally have my first shiny, of my favorite Pokemon.

2006 Pokemon Emerald. I remember laying in my bed as a kid late one night messing around in the Safari zone, I came across a Sunkern that showed a little sparkle. I've never seen or heard of a shiny Pokemon before this point. I just remember that feeling of warmth that I just stumbled across something amazing. I sadly lost the game in a move but like you said, it's all about the memory. I will miss you CornBoy (It was female).

I will never forget my first shiny. In Greece we called them Golden Pokémon (Χρυσά Πόκεμον). I had just finished with Blackthorn City and was climbing down the Route 46. Then suddenly a Shiny Gligar appeared. It's been so many years since then. But I will never forget my first "Golden" Pokémon.

My first ever shiny was in Pokemon Emerald, that route right after Maulville that has the Minun or Plusle patch in it. I ran through that patch and next thing I knew, I had a shiny Electrike in front of me. I brought that one all the way to the elite 4 with me.

I still remember my first Shiny. Back when I was a kid, I didn't believe Shiny Pokemon actually existed until my brother showed me his Shiny Tentacruel, and I saw some of them on the anime like Red Gyarados or Ash's Noctowl being a bit different than the others. It wasn't until playing Pearl that I found a Shiny Bibarel. It was amazing how it had some sparkles around and seemed like a golden Bibarel instead of the regular brown one. I was so excited I called a classmate to brag about it! Then I found many other full odds shinies on Platinum (Shinx, Starly, Quagsire) and I was always looking for more. I still remember soft resetting for Cyndaquil and Lapras in Silver VC, or for Totodile in Heart Gold, and getting a Solosis when I was looking for a competitive one in Pokemon Black. Remember back in 2013 when XY launched? There were reports of "monochrome Pokemon" which ended up being regular Pokemon but with a texture error that made them look colorless. I feel that Gamefreak should bring them as an actual mechanic, but without following the Shiny rules (no increasing rate methods, not showing their forms on the Pokedex, not even mentioning them in-game outside of a rare NPC dialogue or something; not even distributing them in events) and having the original 1 in 8192 chance of appearing; or even a lower rate.

Damn, this video was an insane nostalgia rush. I feel so overwhelmed by how relatable everyone's experiences and emotions are when encountering their first shiny. I recall catching my first shiny like it was yesterday. I was about 13 and I launched my Nintendo DS first thing at the break of dawn whilst everyone was knocked out. I was trying to find a Pikachu at the back of the Pokemon Mansion for my team. I would run in that patch of grass for hours just figuring out all the possible Pokemon's I could encounter. However, one Pokemon didn't look different but the sparkling animation and audio had me very confused. I'd never heard of a shiny Pokemon nor was I aware I had found one. I paused, debated, and hesitated on whether I should knock it out. Thankfully, I caught it and left it idle in my Box. Until one day I traded it to a friend for an Action Replay Arceus and Mewtwo. In hindsight, I am gutted. However, after reliving those memories I've began a shiny playthrough on Brilliant Diamond and Legends Arceus. Legends Arceus doesn't have the same novelty as a full odd 1/4098 but it's still a great feeling. I am proud to say that I have encountered a full odd Shiny Spiritomb on BDSP. I was just starting elementary, and my dad had let me borrow his old Special Pikachu Edition for the car ride to the airport. Had no idea what a shiny, or Pokémon, even was at the time. Just took one look at the Shiny Spearow that’d popped out of the grass, and fell in love with its golden feathers…Can’t remember the nickname I gave it though. 😅 Been a little over two decades since then. Not sure if I even still have the Save File.

First shiny was a Zubat in Sapphire. Most recent one was a full-odds accidental Golduck in Scarlet, which itself was only days after finding a shiny Mudbray entirely by accident in the same playthrough after a shiny drought of years. Something about shinies makes them so incredibly memorable and precious

Hoo boy, my first shiny Pokémon was complicated. I didn’t like the fact that my first shiny ever caught was a Roselia on a GBA emulator of Ruby. I started playing Pokémon during the X/Y days, so that’s why I was using an emulator for the older games. But anyways, I never got a shiny from X/Y, S/M, US/UM, or SW/SH. After playing Ruby on the emulator and encountering a shiny Roselia, I thought to myself “I should probably make this my first official shiny in a Pokémon game that I actually own.” So after 1262 eggs in SW/SH, it officially became my first shiny. And the fact that Budew was the first shiny I found in Legends Arceus just makes this story even more memorable to me. Having another shiny Roselia/Roserade as my first shiny in a game just confirmed how important this shiny Pokémon is to me.

My first shiny was in my first play through of platinum. I was up in Maine for the ash spreading of my grandmother and as always I brought my DSi with me. I was walking along the route near sunnyshore city and encountered a golden Luxio. I had no idea what I was looking at and thought my game was glitching or something. I captured it and evolved it into a Luxray. Upon returning home I showed my childhood best friend what I found and his jaw dropped since he knew what shiny Pokémon where and knew how rare they are. I’ll never forget that moment ever. It took my years to find another shiny after that. RIP Luxray.

A spearow in the sevi islands. Near the unkown door that needed cut. I had my eyes closed as i was tired, and then i heard the sparkle. Lost my game sadly but oddly enough i was playing a heartgold run and to my surprise I found another one! Prehaps it was fate by the poke gods I get to see an old friend once again.

My first shiny was in Emerald. I didn't know the Lunatone had blue eyes and sparkled. Sadly I ran of pokeballs but kid me immediately thought, "If I can't have you no one will." As I knocked it out lmao

My first shiny experience was in pokemon diamond, I encountered a shiny hoot hoot, and it blew my mind, I didn’t even know shiny Pokémon existed, sadly I accidentally fainted it with a critical hit, but that experience has stayed in my mind as one of my personal most mind blowing gaming moments.

this is one of the best videos I've seen about Pokemon, truly captures the essence of being a kid and discovering a whole new world inside a cartridge. I do remember the first shiny I found, in my first run of Platinum, back when the game released, just short of the waterfall to victory road, its really something I'll never forget. Going even deeper, I remember no one believed me when I told them I saw a npc climbing Mt. Chimney, way back when I was in like, 3rd grade. It was only 2 or 3 years ago that I discovered I was, in fact, not crazy. Pokemon is the best.

I had mirage island spawn when I was 6 on my first playthrough of emerald back in 2005. Nobody knew what I was talking about and it wasn't until we got the big book on emerald that we could prove I wasn't lying because I still had the berry from it.

My very first shiny Pokémon was in Pokémon sword, around 6 years after I initially started playing Pokémon lmao. I had just got the game, I was traversing through the game like normal, then suddenly my switch got corrupted. I sent it in to get fixed and when I eventually got a fixed switch, my file was gone. So once again, I started from scratch, fought that very same onix at the start, but then not even a minute later, a shiny bunnelby comes out of nowhere. I immediately caught it. I saw this as compensation for my file getting corrupted, so despite diggersby not being the most useful Pokémon in the world, I kept it with me.

my most insane shiny memory was finding 2 shiny nidoran females back to back in Fire Red. it was in Route 3 in the last grass patch right before Mt. Moon. I still have them in my Soul Silver game :)

I remember my first full odds shiny Pokémon. It was a Shiny Sandshrew for Pokémon Ruby. Back then when the internet was still young, there were playground and internet rumors that shininess was hereditary. It was technically true due to the mechanics of Gen II with Gold/Silver/Crystal, but we didn't know at the time that it didn't carry over to Gen III. When it evolved into a Shiny Red Sandslash, I renamed it as Ruby Red and was so dazzled by its beautiful color scheme that I spent hours trying to breed it as a parent thinking the shininess was hereditary, only to fail miserably dozens of eggs later before giving up.

My first shiny was shiny Parasect in Pokemon Crystal. It was 2002, I was 12 years old and battery at my game boy color was dying and flashing red. I was going to save game and turn off console " after one more fight " during my grind at Mt. Silver when THIS MOMENT happend. It was pure shock and after 20 years I still remember this moment very well.

A shiny Caterpie that I found back in 2009 playing heart gold. I named it Goldie, and had absolutely no idea what a shiny was, but that Butterfree became my best friend... I still remember my first shiny, the Octillery I caught in X when I learned what chain fishing was. If we're talking about random shinies, Mienfoo on Route 8. Still have it to this day, and I love it.

My first was a orange zigzagoon in emerald going right past watts gym and at the beginning of the road going to moss deep. Thank you for reminding me of this beautiful and memorable time.

i remember the first shiny i found in my time of playing pokemon games, the shiny was a shiny pinsir from pokemon go before i even knew what a shiny pokemon was, it was during some difficult times during my family as we were trying to get help from insurance after getting into a car wreck, i remember seeing it normal on the map, i showed my cousin (who is roughly a month older than me) when i was waiting in the car (i was around 11-12 years old) i remember being very confused and chose to hang on to it (it was during july) and i found it very special to me.

I think another thing that makes Pokémon special versus other games is that even if you encounter a shiny Pokémon, it does not guarantee you will catch it! The excitement of finding a shiny is mixed with anxiety, like “I just found one of the rarest things in Pokémon and what if I kill it and miss this rare opportunity?!” (unless you have false swipe haha). You either have the forever joy of catching it, or forever dread of killing it.

My first shiny that I remember at least was a shiny Cubchoo in White. I was riding the bus to the mall. I could literally show you the exact spot in the street when it happened. It's why Cubchoo has a spot in my heart.

0:42 I might as well answer this too. My first ever shiny Pokémon was in Pokémon X and Y. It was a female Venipede on Palais Lane, or route 6. I was just walking down the path and I accidentally walked past one of the bushes Pokémon jump out at you from. I absolutely freaked out when I found this thing. It was late at night at the time and I was asked to quiet down. As you can see, I remember that night very clearly. I still cherish the Scolipede, now named Unox (Uno for being my first shiny and X being the game I caught her in.)

My first shiny was a shiny eevee in Pokemon Moon on May 5th 2018. I evolved my precious Opal into Umbreon and it had been significant to me ever since. I lost my Moon cartrige for about 2 years and although I had 21 other hunted shinies in that game. I only missed Opal. My first shiny. He meant everything to me. Right before I found my game again, I named my full odds Shiny Umbreon (which can I just say finding an Area Zero Shiny Umbreon was absolutely amazing) Opalite as a tribute to Opal even making a whole backstory to connect them.

Shiny Magikarp, about 8 years old and in the car with my family going south for our holiday. Still remember seeing that golden fish popping up out of nowhere. I remember saving the game ( fortunately) before evolving it to learn it turns into a red gyrados. so kept it as the golden carp, still got it to this day! (18 years on)

I found my first shiny, a combee, in gen 6, and though my luck ran out and it was male, I still remember it and love it. I still have the combee today, it kinda means a lot to me your talk of how moments are special brings me back to when I finally got the Riolu egg in Pearl and hatched it. I was so excited that I freaked out and showed my grandma, who had no real idea how special it was but encouraged my enthusiasm anyway. it was my favorite Pokemon at the time (and still one of my faves now), and getting to finally own one was so exciting to me. ofc now its like clockwork that I get the Riolu egg anytime I replay the games, but back then I had no clue you could only get one that way and was ecstatic over it. that's my *moment* with the games.

My first every shiny was a Geodude in Pokemon Diamond. I can also remember that the first shiny I encountered in Moon was the pink Oricorio...and the first one I caught was a shiny Alolan Rattata. The first shiny I came across in Violet was a shiny Lechonk and that was surreal because I was in a battle with a different Pokemon when I saw it trotting in the background. There was an egg glitch in Pokemon Go where the egg would be sideways and flat, and I ended up screen recording a shiny Togepi hatching. Edit: came back to say I remember my first “real” shiny in Arceus was Tangela, though I did do the Ponyta mission (but that’s the equivalent of the Red Gyarados).

My first shiny was actually fairly recent. I didnt have access to the older games so it was a shiny Skiddo on Violet. Though it's not as rare as the old ones, it's still really important to me.

I remember my most recent shiny was a Gligar in Legends Arceus by outbreak. When I saw the thing I went dead silent until it stayed in the ball! I distinctly remember wanting any shiny and unloading/Reloading environments until an outbreak appeared; I just got lucky with the Gligar. As for my first shiny ever, counting Go it was Scyther (Yes, I was lucky enough for my first ever random shiny to be a freaking scyther. Im a bug type fan so this was awesome) but In the main series it was Trapinch, by masuda method. The guy (named Ace) was hatched while watching a video on shiny Pokémon, I think it was ADrive, In my old dining room. I still have them; They’re a lvl 100 full EV shiny Flygon with Pokerus now. I got the dang thing in like 9 eggs!

That golden Geodude back in Pkmn Pearl will forever have a special place in my heart ❤ Lost the cartridge after many years but I’ll never forget how my 7 year old self had no idea why that geodude was golden.

There are a handful of shinies I will never forget encountering. A shiny budew in a replay of Pearl, which was my first ever legit shiny after years of action replay "100% shiny chance" codes. On that same file i got a shiny Shinx hatched after only 12 eggs, which was unbelievably quick compared to the time i expected to lut into that hunt. The other big one for me was an Abra i found in X during my playthrough, and managed to catch. Each one of them helped cement the idea of wanting to find as many as shinies as I could possibly manage, and each one remains a magical moment for me when i look back on this franchise. It's genuinely amazing what some recolored pixels can do to the brain

I got a shiny Zubat when I was a kid, but my sibling accidentally deleted my account on my DS, but when I got BDSP, on my third day of playing, BOOM! SHINY ZUBAT! It came back

This video made me feel so emotional. My first shiny was a shiny zubat in the Lost Tower back in Pokemon Pearl. It was the first game I ever played, I was 8 years old. I had no idea what a shiny was, but I was so intrigued by the fact that it was green and I caught it. After talking with friends I realized it was a shiny and it was incredibly rare. I was so excited. No one else I knew had a shiny and it felt so special. My nephew who was a few years younger than me found his first shiny a few months later in pokemon ruby, a shiny Taillow. I saw him encounter it and freaked out telling him how rare it was. He lit up and got so excited. Now him and I shiny hunt in scarlet and violet together all the time, and I swear we get 1-5 new shinies a day. However, no matter what the shiny we obtain is, it'll never compare to the feelings we got when we got those full odds Zubat and Taillow back when we were kids.

I remember going to whirl islands on my pokemon crystal copy during preschool looking for Lugia and getting lost as i did not bring a pokemon with flash with me, as i fumbled about in the darkness for well over an hour i randomly stumbled upon a shiny Golbat which i promptly caught and got super excited for, since nobody at my school (including myself at the time) had seen a shiny except for the guaranteed red Gyarados nobody believed me until i brought my Game boy to school and everyones jaws dropped. Vividly remember that there was massive spread of the legend of the "Whirl island green Golbat" months afterwards

I was on a trip back home and found a shiny butterfree in the bug catching contest in heart gold. Easily one of the best moments of my young life.

Yo that ending gave me chills. I definitely remember my first shiny. It was the ice cream cone in pokemon black. I was hype for my first legit shiny. I evolved it and it barely had a color change and I felt regret, but I still remember that moment 14 years later. And I have a bad memory lol

My first wild shiny encounter was back in crystal version, and it was a graveler, who promptly self destructed. Stopped playing pokemon eventually but picked it back up for black and black 2, stopped again and picked it back up for moon, where i found my 2nd shiny, a fletchinder that stayed with me throughout the game.

The first Pokémon I ever caught was a shiny geodude in Pokémon crystal. I ended up losing it soon after, as I was playing on an emulator and the tab got closed (I didn’t have a proper console yet) but I always remembered it, and literally the same day as I’m typing this was actually the day that I found it again on the DS version of Pokémon crystal! I’ll finally be able to evolve it into the golem that it was always supposed to be

I love the way you present your videos, shiny Pokémon mean so much to a lot of people and in your intro of this video you did an excellent job of showcasing that, I got goosebumps when you played your reaction and other creators reactions to finding shiny Pokémon. I reacted the exact same way today when I caught my all time favorite shiny Pokémon, hisuian Growlith in arceus! I love being able to relate to that feeling with other Pokémon enthusiast.

My first shiny that wasn’t Gyarados happened in Mt. Silver, when I was playing the original Gold. It was Steelix, I don’t remember how old I was, but I was a child and I had lots of happy tears 😅

my first shiny was when i was 8 years old in the just released new Pokemon Sapphire on the glorious nintendo advance SP which my Mom bought both of them for me for my birthday recently. it was my first play through and it was actually one of the most interesting pokemon to ever have found as a shiny. it was a shiny spinda as i was adventuring through the ashy grass for the first time ever. i immediately noticed the sparkles and how it was completely different colored (green) as a kid at a time when the internet wasn't even a known/used and they were huge blocky chunky PC's (2003) i actually never knew shiny pokemon existed and had never heard of them before which made the experience extremely exciting for me and unforgettable, it was my own experience that led me to uncovering the secret shiny pokemon i didn't even know about which i am grateful of now thinking back. anyway my 8 year old brain thought oh my god what just happened why did it shiny like that??? and thought i found something extremely rare that was very important in the game so i had to catch no matter what! i was a smart kid so i knew i had to be very careful to not KO it and regret it later. so i literally spent like 15 minutes in this battle thinking of what to attack it with since i didn't even know what type spinda was 😅i don't remember what i used but i made a smart guess and it did like 60% damage got it to orange, i didn't attempt to go lower hp and starting to try catch it with great balls. i obviously caught it and tomorrow i sneaked my game boy SP to school and i showed it to all my friends, they was so shocked and so excited and for the next few weeks they would constantly offer a bunch of strong pokemon just for the spinda 😂. i never traded it though and kept it safe and cherished it forever 🥺 i would later on buy a gamecube in the future with pokemon Colosseum and would transfer it to there to keep it safe if i needed to start a new game. and would re transfer it back to the new save files. i hope you enjoyed my story ❤😆

You’re absolutely right. I remember my first shiny like it was yesterday, playing my fave game Sapphire. I didn’t even know what shiny Pokémon were then, I just knew that this Roselia I found on route 117 was different than the rest and I had to catch it! I spent forever comparing it to my normal one in the PC. This video captures exactly that, the feeling of something special that makes you feel like the only player in the world for just a moment.

My first shiny was a hoothoot in the grass just below ecruteak city on route 37 in soul silver. I remember it so clearly, I was 11 or so and was at my best friends place for a sleepover and we were just playing around for ages on our ds's and then it suddenly happened, I didn't even know what it was at the time but my friends reaction was something I never forgot. That's when I learned what shinies were, and that's when my story became unique. I will never forget it.

my most memorable shiny was when I found out about the Lapras you can get on Friday in HG/SS. this was like 2010 or 2011, first encounter, no resets, I had 3 ultra balls and caught it on the last one, at near full health. truly a miracle

When you said the experience is more important than the reward that kinda helped give me some closure. I lost all of my old Pokémon games besides Pokémon platinum that I restarted in 2019 so it didn’t have the nostalgia of my pearl copy, or my entire box of shinies from my ultra moon copy. I lost every shiny from my Karablast, my giratina, and even my first shiny, vulpix. All of the Pokémon my brothers and I used to name stupid things as a kid. A random gyarados named Gary. A torkoal named jj cool. Everything just gone. I’ve been having a hard time thinking about losing those lately but when u said that I about to e experience I cracked a smile. So what I don’t have anything to prove I’m a Pokémon veteran now, I still have the memories. I could cry rn thinking about it. All of the first reactions and memories are what I should care about, and I do now. Hold on tight to your game cartridges but hold on even tighter to those memories and experiences. Thank you :.,)

The first one I caught was an audino I found in 7th grade before school. Unfortunately I lost the cart it was on and I still think about her to this day. Maybe someday I'll find her again on a new adventure?

I managed to find two Shinies in my Violet playthrough, a shiny Shroomish and then a shiny Passimian. My rarest shiny ever was a Metagross back in Gen 5, that catch rate...

When I was in highschool I used to take my old GBC with Pokémon gold with me anywhere I went because I was completing the national Dex. One day, on the bus back home I was roaming in tall grass and found a Shiny Ursaring. I couldn't believe it. Caught her and had her with me until the battery on that cartridge finally died.
