In this video, I'll share the process of making a painting inspired by a particular location, and what I've learned about trusting my instincts while my painting style evolves. If you'd like an insight into how I work and why, or if you're wishing to change your own art style but are finding it difficult, this video is for you! I'll take you on a trip with us into the English countryside, and then back in the studio you'll get a behind the scenes look at the creation of a painting while I attempt to work in a looser style, and the materials and colours I used.

Thank you for this little look into your process and thoughts. What a beautiful place! ❤ The difference, for me, is exactly that my photography is more for reality, I don't like to tweak them too much. But when I paint, I enjoy being free from the computer and can be more creative... My problems is probably more to limit the colours I want to use. To simplyfy. 😊

Thank you so much for sharing this special video with all of us who are not patrons. I would like to share with you that I love following you as I do at least a dozen other artists. If only I had the way and means to be a patron to all of them I would. However I also have a budget that will just not stretch that far. Thank you for allowing us with lesser means to take a glimpse into a world that only those with larger pocketbooks can afford. It is much appreciated.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed it! That's the great thing about KZfaq - I keep all content on here free (I don't have channel memberships, for example) so that everyone can access my videos in some way. Patreon is fantastic for going more in-depth and creating more content for those who want it/can afford to join and also wish to be a part of the community on there. I'm so thankful to my patrons - it's due to their support that I can create as many videos as I do!

What a coincidence - I’m currently writing a chapter about Picturesque gardens and my title photo is the view at Stourhead, which I’m also planning to paint! It was great to see your videos from the gardens and how you interpreted the scenery in your own style 🤩

Thank you for gifting us with this glimpse into your patreon videos,can see why it has so many members,but also thank you for reviving a memory for me,I have also stayed on the Stourhead estate,it is really stunning there,I think the change you are making to your magical artwork is still recognisable as a Natasha Newton piece if that makes sense,it sounds like you are becoming more comfortable in your artist's skin so to speak and it's also good for your creative wellbeing too.The final painting and the colours you chose capture your experience and impressions of Stourhead so beautifully and in your new looser style.Happy that you are in a more comfortable and confident place with your art,look forward to your next video(Matt)p.s I think I have a signature colour palette too in my work

Indeed the colour palette is what attracts me to your work the most. It'd be nice to see you picking up the paint from the palettes at the very beginning, at least for a little while. Although you did a bit at the end more so thank you. Perhaps this is just the youtube version? At any case thank you for sharing this video. ❤

I can definitely get your feelings and style out of that painting. I love it! I, personally, much more enjoy art that has a sense of whimsy and imagination rather than stiffness or hyper realism. Not to say there isn't a place for all types of art styles, it's just my preference. 😊 Thank you for sharing this video and your insights and take care ❤

When you first started painting, were you already drawn to the the muted type color choices, or was it something you just stumbled into? What you said about -not- painting the colors you saw kind of struck a bone because I think that is what so many try to do and why so many get frustrated with their results.
@NatashaNewtonArt
@NatashaNewtonArt 24 күн бұрын
That's an interesting question, and no, I wasn't! I used a lot of bright yellow and other bolder colours (hard to believe now, I know!), but I gradually realised how much a loved a more muted, softer palette.

I wanted to let you know, just in case you weren't aware, that KZfaq is very glitchy at the moment for a lot of people. If your views, likes and comments are low, it's because of that, not anything to do with your video. Some people can't comment, and aren't aware of it, because they show up to them, but no one else. Some people don't have or see a like button, others the video won't load at all. It seems to be everywhere, according to Reddit and other places. Thanks you for this peek into your Patreon and the lovely trip you took.

This is so interesting to hear as I had a feeling that something was going on! Views have definitely been lower in general over the past few weeks, and I think that some people aren't being notified of new videos. I noticed that for me, as a viewer, KZfaq was being a bit glitchy too - when I press the like button on a video, it sometimes disappears?! Thanks for letting me know. :)

Aww lovely. There’s a housing crisis and there’s some spare homes for rich people to sleep in. Bucolic.
@NatashaNewtonArt
@NatashaNewtonArt 24 күн бұрын
If they used some of the empty shops and office buildings to convert into homes (plus the one million plus abandoned homes in this country) we wouldn't have a housing crisis. Having beautiful places for people to stay within the UK is also good for avoiding air travel and for the economy too.
@Grassless24
@Grassless24 24 күн бұрын
@@NatashaNewtonArt the planet can’t take so much air travel I agree. And hotels and pubs, caravan sites, campsites and purpose built holiday accommodation would supply plentiful jobs and free up the housing that’s for people to live in. That way communities aren’t full of rich people on holiday with nowhere for working people to live; carers don’t have to drive 100 miles for free; popular beauty spots don’t become too expensive for people to buy or rent and those who’ve lived there for generations (and newcomers alike) don’t have to relocate to the other end of the country. We have a very small country and we don’t have space with a growing population and the biggest housing crises ever for people to having a little break (more and more people, more and more homes). You’re showing this pretty little version of the uk for people to swoon over and in reality there are probably only a handful of local people even living in them these days. It’s not hard to build a dedicated hotel and campsite and run regular buses for people to visit these places. Make a lot more money for the economy and people alike if we don’t treat our country like a spare bedroom for the rich. .
@Grassless24

@@NatashaNewtonArt and I’m not talking about you since you said you stayed in dedicated hotel pub accommodation. Just sick of us all making out like renting homes for holidays is nicely nice.
@NatashaNewtonArt
@NatashaNewtonArt 24 күн бұрын
@@Grassless24 I agree with a lot of what you've said. I'm actually showing this "pretty version of the UK" because it's the version that inspires me and makes me feel happy rather the the hell we all have to live most of the time with a Tory government determined to bleed everyone dry (and the other lot aren't much better).
@poodle9557
@poodle9557 16 күн бұрын
you know... I appreciate the fact that you are considerate and mention these issues. I am not from the UK, although I adore it. I watch Natashas videos because they are cozy and lovely and really calm me down. I am really really not well, as my thoughts are already spinning and I feel sad and guilty ALL of the time. Videos like these help me. I choose it with the knowledge of their style and showing a 'pretty version' of things. Because I lost my sense for this. I only see scary and sad and bad. And Natasha brings some of the good things back with what she does. So although parts of what you write are true, the comment is sad because it brings these things back with what we are surrounded all day long anyway.
