The Kham or Log drums have long been of significant importance and integral part of the Konyaks and some other Naga tribes which is associated with the socio-cultural facets of our people. Dragging of the log drum to village is done in a ceremonial atmosphere with singing and shouting with all the young ones and old dressed in their colorful traditional attire. Upon reaching the village the log drum is then place inside the morung after a gap of a day or month with great celebration in its honour. The log drum is beaten on each different occasions and festivals with a distinct rhythm and for a particular code message to be deciphered by the villagers. Today the log-drum still stands as an emblem of prosperity, unity and souvenir of the past.
