Thanks for the documentary. We need more creators like you to dive deep into the colonial history of africa and post colonial. I actually just started watching your congo crisis documentary today. Once I'm finished with that I'll move on to this one

Extremely good job my African brother. You’ve done a job nobody on KZfaq has done. I’m now awaiting the 2nd Congo War. It’s even more interesting than the 1st Congo War because so many African nations were involved. You didn’t emphasise the Ugandan & Rwandan effort in this war in the Kabila forces because they only succeeded because of Rwandan & Ugandan troops. You just earned a subscriber. 👏🏿

Check his Nigerian Independence to Civil War documentary and the Congo one, they're both very fair views on the insanity of the ethnic conflicts, foreign meddling, power abuses and atrocity reciprocation that happened during that time.

Such tragic events. It's especially sad to me that, while most Westerners have some dim awareness of the Rwandan Genocide, almost none of them understand the real extent of its impact, which ultimately precipitated the most devastating war since WWII. Everyone in the Western world should be required to learn more African history, so that we understand better the real legacy of colonialism and do not remain ignorant of our countries' role in these conflicts today, as the war in Kivu is still ongoing. Thank you for communicating this story to all of us with your excellent videos, Kema. I hope that one day these wrongs will be righted, and Africans of every country and ethnicity may live in peace and prosperity.

@@user-um2er1pm4h It's very possible, as the algorithm is quite arbitrary and it has been changing over the past year quite drastically, to the detriment of many creators. I know some people who are subscribed to channels aren't seeing alerts for new videos from them now, and I've also heard that there is an attempt to promote more videos from "big users" at the expense of mid-sized channels. This is all the more reason to support him however we can. At some point the algorithm will change again if we can ride this out

Completely agree. It would help add a lot of context to the Second Congo War, since both those countries were involved heavily, as well as so many others like Zimbabwe, South Africa, Libya, and so on.

5:35 This is a pattern one sees a great deal in global anthropology, conflicts between pastoral and agricultural ethnic groups. I have read that the Fulani have historically had similar conflicts with agricultural peoples in Nigeria and Cameroon like the Mambilla. One might even say that the conquests of Genghis Khan in China or the invasion of the Huns during Ancient Rome are expressions of a similar motif. It is as extraordinary as it is terrible, how the way of life of a people, even when competing for land in the distant past, influences their relationships and conflicts with other groups much later.
