Actually the story is a bit more interesting. Hoeness, one of Bayern Munich directors, didn't want to pay the money Tony thought deserved (same money as his friend Goetze). Hoeness answered him that he was not a top class player. Tony was pissed and asked his agent to contact Real Madrid to offer himself (although already had a verbal agreement with Manchester United). The agent contacted RM manager (Jose Angel Sanchez) and the next day Tony's agent was in Madrid to start talking about the hiring. At the end, Tony finished in RM (the option he really wanted) instead ManU. The rest is history :)

Do people realize how incredible Kroos is outside of Spain? Lord they should. What he and Luka are doing for the club now at their age is very hard to put a price tag on. I absolutely think the world of both men and their abilities to put ego aside, if even applicable, and think of youth/club first. Bravo gents and what an example to be setting for future generations.

Yes, it was, Real Madrid contacted Vidal’s agent at that time, Madrid decided for Kroos that season, and 1 season later, there was interest again, But then Vidal Crashes his Ferrari Between games in Copa America 2015 and Madrid finally decided to retire his offer, that was big news here in Chile

People don’t know how good Vidal was lol. He was like a better gattuso. Won 2 copa America with chile carried with Alexis, would have won the ucl but couldn’t find the right timing to join a team full of young hungry players, like zlatan. One of the best midfielders just like Kroos. German Eiche, no more words needed 😎👌 for the last few yrs one of my favourite players and characters in football, such a calm and easygoing dude without attitude and blessed with an hilariously insane vision on the pitch and his passes ... Phuuhh i never understood how this guy is looking at the field but he rippes apart whole squads with a single pass, thats just crazy. I think his signing was way more crucial to RMs succes over the last decade than even cr7 or vini and others.

Signing Kroos was a huge win long-term but that transfer window was a major fuckup. Xabi Alonso was sold to Bayern, Casemiro was loaned to Porto and for some reason, Khedira sat in the grandstands for the whole season. The team had to play for the whole season without a proper defensive midfielder because new 80M signing James Rodríguez had to play instead. James was a great player but he wasn't what the team needed at all, running an unbalanced team for the whole season is what let Barcelona win league in 2015, given the mediocre first half of the season they had.

I think Florentino Perez doesnt get enough praise tho. Yes Madrid players have done great things, but he often brings them in at what looks like crazy deals then in hindsight they look like bargains for what he paid for them. Theres been times when players have been let go in what look like terrible moves, but in the long run proved to be smart decisions. Not saying he hasnt had blunders but man when compared to other top clubs his tallies of good marks look better than bad.

A bit strange, they are different type of players. Kroos is a traditional playmaker and Vidal is probably best categorized as a Ball Winning Midfielder alternatively Box to Box.
