Built in the early 1800’s around 1810-1820 in a beautiful large federal style house, probably considered huge for back in the day. Was a very large old house that still features all the old details like original staircase, newel post, dental molding, huge original fireplaces with Flemish bond brick work and so much more! The attic also was especially cool since it along with the rest of the main house had never really been remodeled only added onto. Thank you for watching! So glad I could document this historic old house on film and share with you all. Thank you!

Most of what I've seen slapped up lately probably won't last more than a couple decades. Even "expensive" houses, the newer ones I've seen have zero personality, white walls, plastic floors, no woodwork, huge echo chambers without any craftsmanship. Yuck.

You can bet the keys are gone on that piano because they were ivory! How sad that somebody felt it was necessary to ransack Grandpa's/Grandma's house (walkers. wheelchair ramp on the porch, the bed moved to the lower level, and the sittin' chair on the porch) and throw all their belongings all over! The woodwork and furniture are absolutely beautiful, and all hand done too. Kappy there were at least two updates done, the addition of an indoor bathroom and electricity! Thank you for taking me to places I would otherwise never see, I'll be back next week!

Good point on the piano keys and updated of electric and bathroom! I’m sure the whole kitchen bay was a 40’s or 50’s addition but atleast they kept the main old house intact! Even the bathroom was a pop out room which was probably once a back porch. Thank you for watching and good eye! :)

You’ve hit a home run with this one, Kappy! I love it. It’s easy to look past the debris and see what an elegant old house still survives in spite of the neglect. I am of the opinion that the front porch is likely 1900 and the kitchen addition much later. If I had to guess I would say the floors and wainscot were southern yellow pine under all that paint. It was great to see the scratch bead siding still on survives on the exterior. I’d love to restore a gem like this some day. Thank you for sharing !!

I SO want to buy this place and put it back the way it was, it seems very doable. It's all still there and was really well taken care of for a long time; the work on the foundation and the condition of the crawl space, the intact wood moldings, the staircase, the fireplace mantels, and wainscotting. That retro kitchen table and chairs upstairs are worth some good money these days! The little bedroom on the second floor is so cute, it's painted in what they call "Haint Blue", very common in these old places. The landing up there was very pretty. The upstairs porch was heavenly, with the bench along the wall I can see the whole family gathering there. What a wonderful place, I think this is my favorite of your explores so far. The energy of the place is so great I can feel it through the screen. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful old place, I'm about half ready to pack up and move to North Carolina!

I’m blown away by how many abandoned homes you showed in this video! I’m from California and homes are almost never left empty and not all that many are this old. What’s odd about the house you walked through is the ground floor had several rooms with rotting floors.. but the upstairs didn’t so I guess it’s not the usual water damage from a bad roof and maybe termites?! Could you tell what the problem was?! Thank you for sharing this with us!

That buffet under the microwave would make a GOREGEOUS TV stand!!! It's already missing the top drawer where the equipment panel would go. Oh if only I could my hands on it.......Also, at 8:07 an orb slowly floats off the far left side of the piano keyboard and glides steadily across the room.

However, the details, trim, and other elements definitely worth salvaging and saving - honoring. Money does not buy happiness, Kappy, but it does allow for intelligent, inspiring re-builds. I love wainscoting and this house is full of it! The repairs didn't seem overwhelming, but removing all the leftover stuff would take a while. I bought an old house at auction years ago and we lived in an RV while we worked on it ourselves and hired some remodeling done. It did have " good bones"... structurally sound and working electric and plumbing. I sold 5 acres that were already platted for what I paid for the house and 14 acres and was later able to do a "limited subdivision" which allowed me to sell part of the remaining 9 acres. Everything is paid for and money in the bank too. One of the best adventures of my life. There are abandoned places available for back taxes so check it out if you don't mind hard work and a looking for a place of your own!

Did you notice the old linoleum? And the calendar 2006?? What a shame that house is left to rot. That's definitely grandma and grandpa furniture 😄 The bathroom at the entrance was obviously added in the 20's or later. I'm sure there was an outhouse buried up somewhere. Wish I could be there 😫 That was fun. This never gets old. Thanks for the showing.

The woodwork in this house was once gorgeous. Whoever painted it blue in the second floor should be whipped. I love those old red and white kitchen chairs stacked up on the second floor. They look in remarkably good shape. I wonder why people feel it necessary to ransack the drawers and closets and through things all over the place. I always feel the urge to start cleaning it up when I see these videos--even though some other nitwit would just come in and trash the place again. I suppose they are looking for money or other valuables. Another awesome video Kappy! That dark wood cabinet with the drawers in the middle and cabinet on each side is called a "credenza". It's where the plates, cups, and cutlery were kept in the dinning room. So many things that could be saved....."sigh". The table and chairs, both up and down stairs. "Wow" is right young man! Be careful in your travels! And thanks for taking me along!

This place was once a gem and the owners didn't see it. Such a pity that it's been trashed. The outside makes me think Of Sleeping Beauties Castle and how it was so overgrown.

the range of furniture styles in this beauty... some of those kitchen chairs on the second floor (first floor up the staircase; the first floor in America is called the ground floor in the UK, but however you call it ) The red kitchen chairs? those looked like something out of the 50's with other danish-style side tables peeking back at you, versus the Federal style pieces on the ground floor -that sideboard and the bed headboard. the spring mattresses feel like 1930's and some of those armoires reminded me of a few different decades of styles. I caught myself wondering how that 'dentil molding' was crafted way back when. Such exquisite detail produced without power tools. Simply amazing. We would be a better nation today were we to still enjoy using such skills as those.

For some reason, the kitchens are always my most favorite part of the house. Maybe because they are the hub that affects family life. What a waste of a beautiful old house!

It's amazing there is no leakage from the roof, the interior was in really nice condition for such an old house with the porch falling away.
