I agree Finn, their is a lot unfair criticism on Christians in the media and towards Christian bands in general because they don’t fit the narrative of the woke society in the United States today. You have gotten me in to so many different bands to listen to, I really appreciate that. I also love watching your channel keep on rocking it out.

Thank you guys, it has gotten somewhat easier over time, there is so much more to this story I could write a book, seriously. But the most important part was that my mom was able to get custody of my nephew (who was 2 at the time) and she finally worked up the courage to divorce my dad ( was an alcoholic and would get violent towards her at times). That put a lot of responsibility on me and my other older sister but we all stuck together and we made it work the best we could. My nephew is grown now and doing well. I just recently gave him a trunk full of his moms things that i had been saving for him and that was very emotional but he is grateful to have any peice of her he can get. I truly admire my mom so much for her strength and perseverance during what was the hardest point in her life. What she went through was far worse than anything i was going through. Looking back now that I am a parent myself and about the age she was when all of this happened... I don't know how she did it without completely loosing her shit. I mean she still had 2 teenage daughters and a grandson to raise with no real help from anyone beside us. I probably should write a book about it. My mom deserves some recognition and who knows it may inspire others who are facing similar challenges. 🤔 Creeds music definitely triggers some real emotions and memories for me and my family. But i am glad i had their music and Linkin Park's to cling to during that time.

He's actually better than Jerry Cantrell, I'm sorry but he is even though Jerry's phenomenal. What a bullshit headline that the publisher wrote back then. I guess Creed's sound was kinda basic so I guess they were just basing their opinion off that.

@BreeFItzgerald Oh no don't get me wrong Jerry Cantrell is absolutely amazing. Both him and Mark Tremonti are absolute legends.

@BreeFItzgerald He is a legend, but Tremonti as he stands today is quite a bit more prolific than Cantrell in the guitar world. Cantrell didn't write Blackbird after all.

Being compassionate is fine. So is calling a mediocre band out for making pappy, trite, generic music. Personality and behavior of their faux-Christian front man aside, Creed makes Nickleback seem talented and interesting. I was also there for the coma-inducing bummer that was Creed on every other radio station and TV commerical for about a year. Their music is exactly the kind of fake, artless, heartless, crap that American corporations can use to express their superficiality and lack of commitment to anything but commercially safe, soulless music that belongs in a grocery store specifically for traumatic head injury patients, as they are the only people who could ever hear a Creed song and unironically say, "This is my jam!" I've run in to these poor souls on occasion, and listening to them try to string more than 4 words together in an effort to explain how, "They really sing from the heart and I love how the singer tries so hard to be Eddie Vedder" is as sad as it is hilarious. Bring that "Mouth full of marbles" bullshit back! Lmao.

Mediocre art that people connect to can be critiqued but it doesn't need to inspire the type of simmering hate that your comment suggests. "Bad" art is art that is condescending, art that is hateful, etc. There will always be commerical, uninspired, lazy work and there will always be people who despite that, or because of that, enjoy it. I think it's a big sign of maturity and one reason why I really enjoy these videos is because he doesn't criticize people for liking the things that they like. I don't really like Creed, but my dad sincerely sent me the song "With Arms Wide Open" because he thought it reminded him of when I was a baby. That is real sentiment and it seems inappropriate to take that away from someone by saying the emotion they took from a piece of art isn't real.

He’s also quite a singer. He recently did an album (faithfully) covering Sinatra, and it’s legit really good.

I agree completely. 2/14/02 in Milwaukee was something I'll never forget. It was their first arena tour, there's some Valentines magic in the air. The pure energy was overwhelming, I've never seen so many people in tears. When Scott cuffed the mic the crowd was deafening on the sing back. I'm convinced I'll never be a part of a show that moving ever again.

I was around 13 or 14 when I first heard them and the song I heard was "My Own Prison". It's still in my top 10 favorite songs ever and it always takes me back to that time period in the late '90s/early '00s.

If Scott tours in your area with his solo act, I highly recommend you check him out. Guy is on top of his game, plays all of the Creed hits and a few of his own.

The best part is Scott used to put down all of these other musicians who used to drink or do drugs. In reality he ended up becoming the biggest hypocrite getting all tweaked out on crystal meth.

Just like these politicians who told everyone to lock down during the pandemic and stay home then come to find out their going on vacations with their family to Mexico or throwing Christmas office parties for them and their staff. It is one thing to silently judge someone in your head but once you profess out to the world and it turns out your being a complete hypocrite... Definitely top two vocalists I've ever seen. In the past he struggled with mental health issues and tried to deal with those with alcohol so never really worked out. I think he's been clean for at least a couple years now

Unfortunately a lot of rock bands/singers from that era get demonized because of their actions. Wes Scantlin from Puddle of Mudd is a perfect example where the actions due to alcohol/drug addiction can make people think you’re “not human”. At the end of the day all rock singers are human Also Scott is doing well, I saw some recent interviews of him and he actually curbed his addiction it seems and is on the right path

Higher is my favorite and lots of people I know if you say Creed that song comes up being memorable. Remember being in a trailer for a cartoon that revolves around future and living in space and it's exploration, nothing about that ever screamed Christianity or anything even close to it. It was more about technology, science and the characters as in what they will utilize it for and the song covered the story very well. Who ever picked it did a great job. And it's a great example to some songs work well for anything you put atop of it. Also can be taken out of context hence why they got the backlash. Even tho I wouldn't expect anything less from a typical brainwashed western person, judging negatively anything that isn't formal to their way of a flawed life. USA was built on coruption and parasitic practices and they still to this day do this. Even their church is corrupt no matter what religion we speak of, lots of them are just bad political movements and serve the evil. Granted there are good ones too just like people buy sadly its a minority. Hatred and judging you don't know nor don't want to know about is a norm. If a TV or typical clickbait garbage website tells you something is bad you take it for a fact and just hate upon it. This band being hated is just another thing on a list of a westerner to hate, since when they hate themselves they equally can't like anyone or anything else. Even if they do say they like something, they lie.

Dude, same! They opened the door to everything. The fact that they had such heavy riffs but were easy to listen to made getting into the genre smooth. I took a lot of crap for listening to them but I always said that the musicians were in another class and people should not sleep on them. Now thanks to Alter Bridge all of them are revered and Creed's name isn't such a bad word anymore.

They had always denied being a Christian band, as that was a common accusation made of them. Scott's troubles were pretty well documented throughout his band's history too. It got much worse though after they broke up, and he just wasn't in the news as much. It is true that he reports doing well nowadays though, so that's good. I didn't like Creed at all when they were around, but I never wished harm on any of them.

They certainly gave off the vibe though, and I happen to be a Christian myself.

I’m an atheist and a metal head and My Own Prison is a guilty pleasure of mine every once in a while. It’s a classic album despite all the hate Creed gets.

Their first album drew lots of comparisons to Creed. If I remember correctly, a significant portion of it had already been written before Myles Kennedy had joined the band, so he had less influence on it. The entire band progressed very rapidly in terms of sheer talent, technicality, and creativity from there, which is why their sound became more much more refined and distanced from Creed goin forward. It also shows in the solo careers of Kennedy and Tremonti.
