Aftet having a stroke in December I've tried making wood projects as therapy. This was a great one had a friend help in assembling it since I have limited use of my right side. Love your projects and am going to use more of them as well. The only change was I used 10" pipes.

Have to say love this video, I've used it to make a shoe rack for my sister. I used some nice white oak, distressed it using a wire brush and various other tools, for stain used spirit based stain in 2 shades, teak and rosewood, sanded mainly by hand 40/80 grit and a little go over with 120, got a nice character feel to touch to the grain of the wood and finished with 3 costs of Danish wood oil which so far looks great, just wanted to share this and thank you guys for the inspiration. I've seen a couple of other videos that I'll be following soon too 😎

First of all great work, I have watched all of your videos. And they inspired me to have wood working as a hobby, as a matter-of-fact I am making the farmhouse table(almost done). Next in line are the bench, console table and the bar rack. This one looks very easy and I am planning to do it too. Keep doing the great work and posting new projects.

Hi, when you made these, what size galvanized pipes did you get? She said 8 inches long but it looks like that may be a nipple size which is what I see in stores and online, compared to the one she had in the video or did she mean 18"long? Thanks

Okay I gotta say- I am so obsessed with all things Rehab Life! My boyfriend just bought a house and the idea of buying all the furniture I want seems so out of reach- you guys are making it seem feasible! I spend hours watching, re-watching , and writing down the plans for which of your projects I’m gong to tackle. A couple of questions for you two: when you first started out, did you rent your power tools or buy them? I’m trying to decide whether the investments are worth it. Obviously the goal in building our own furniture is to save money! Thanks for ALLL the inspo and for being all of my goals!!!

That's awesome, thanks for watching our channel! As for your question, it kind of depends on how much you plan to build. If you have a lot of projects in mind then it's a good idea to invest in some decent tools that will last a long time. If you only have one or two than you plan to build and it will only take a day or two then renting may be a better idea. We invested in some quality power tools when we entered the rehabbing business about 7 years ago and they are the same tools we use in our videos today so for us, it's been worth it!

That is pretty slick, and looks like a fun next project. I think I might try to turn some spindles on the lathe instead of using the pipes, then use the black wood dye on the spindles, and finish with the 5 color wood dye kit. Great vids you guys, thank you so much for sharing!

Hals Wood Shop. Your projects are great for inspiring builders. I have watched since the start. It is time to add an early step....Choose the best surface of the board to be the top surface when you are arranging the boards. ....It would be a small line your text and you are most likely doing it but your audience ( beginners by those questions..what grit sandpaper?) would really benefit, instead of the sap line showing up from the pine and the good side ending up elsewhere. Most new " makers" are starting with pine so choosing is a good lesson for them.

They provide an easy to read list of materials then they list the steps in clear text so you can read it then they demonstrate it. Textbook Instructional Videos. Bonus?....Liz is cute as can be...and she works barefoot!....and she has pretty feet!!! I watch just for that alone! Bonus #2? Henry is adorable and love that he is in the videos too. Keep these up. This is totally neat. It would make a gorgeous coffee table too. And a woman doing it is encouraging. I keep telling my bosses they need to project tool bags and things for women especially. Missing a good oportunity. There are more and more single moms. Its not a good thing but most people out there are smart enough to use things like that to their advantage. I would love to learn woodworking allot more. Thank you. This one caught my eye.

I made a bookcase using this idea and an old waterbed frame for the wood....total cost was about $10 (the bed frame I found on the side of the road) . It's the sturdiest, most easily accessible bookcase I've ever had!! I left the casters off and just put slides on the bottom, though. It really looks nice with the black pipe, going nicely with the wrought iron I have in other pieces.

How did you possibly get the floor flanges for less than $10? I just went to buy some for another project at Lowe's and the cheapest ones were $5.62 for 3/4" and $5.98 for 1". I left without purchasing any (I needed 16) and will go to the plumbing supply in the a.m. to see if they have them cheaper. P.S. I checked at HD and they were over $6 each.

Just built this piece over the weekend. I looks great. I used a Jacobean stain and 10" pipes. However, don't let this video fool you! The assembly is trickier than it looks and also since the pipes and flanges are threaded, they will not be totally flushed to the middle or top boards when you mount them. Mine are at a very slight angle.
