It's another Friday, and that means I'm back with SCORE STUDY. Today I'm analyzing "Fanfares," a piano etude by 20th-century Hungarian iconoclast György Ligeti. We're going to explore questions like "what is an aksak?" and "what is the barber-pole scale?" [Hint, I made the latter up myself.] Tune in next Friday to hear my arrangement of this amazing piano piece for my large ensemble, Big Heart Machine.
