Hi Anne I have a suggestion for maybe a future video! Would you be able to guide us what ingredients are ok to use together & which one are not ok. I'm talking about mixing the products when we are layering on top of eachother. For example vit c & glycolic are not ok cause we don't get full benefits of each product ...etc. Thanks a lot🤗

Thank you so much for this review. I honestly think this is the best review of the The Inkey List entire line, whereas others only provide review of a limited selection of the range although the brand is affordable. I feel like I can trust your reviews deeply, and that your opinions are backed by science/knowledge. I am so grateful for that I watched this video.

I know this is unrelated, but I have been suffering from chronic constipation for many years, and I have adapted to eating ground flax seeds, which are high in fibre and omega-3, with my meal and a lot of water, 30 minutes before I go to the bathroom and it helps me have a happy face bowel movement. I also do a lot of squat movements on the toilet seat that helps with the flow. When my poop is happy, everyone is happy. 🙂

Is it only in products that use it for exfoliation or also in products that use it for hydration? Depending on the pH it can have both effects, the reason why it is in so many moisturizers.

You did a great review....I was very impressed....I found the Hepta Peptide stung a bit so I may now try to add it last as you stated as a ''primer' and see how that works for me...not sure why...I do like the 'notion' of the Multi Biotic moisturizer but again NOT sure if it is working....at 60 I use Retin A, Vitamin C, COQ10 and so on....I will repurchase the Multi Biotic as I want to check it out for a few more months...not sure what to do about the Hepta Peptide, I have enough to keep using for another month as a primer..TimeLESS COQ10 is my preferred serum versus The Inkey List one...
@DoctorAnne

I have yet to try anything from TimeLess, but I have heard great things about the brand. With Retin A, Vitamin C and Q 10 you already have the base covered (assuming you use a good spf of course), so I don’t think a peptide will bring noticeable results. If they do work, it is most likely long term in prevention, nothing we can see on a daily basis. I‘d be interested to learn how you feel about the Hepta Peptide as primer!

Based on basic knowledge you should be able to mix them, but if I had to pick one to mix the Vitamin C Powder with, I would probably go for The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid. You are using all the products from the Glow line? That is a lot of exfoliation, no wonder your skin feels a little sensitive. Try using a basic cleanser, limit the exfoliation to once a week (maybe switch to a salicylic acid product rather than a glycolic acid one), use a hydrating serum on the other days and a lightweight SPF every day.

You can mix them, but I woud suggest using either the Q10 or the Vitamin C in your routine, otherwise it might be too many layers. If it doesn´t bother your skin, pick the Vitamin C and use it after the HA, followed by one of the Moisturizers.

@DoctorAnne
@DoctorAnne 4 жыл бұрын
The price is driven by many different things, the ingredients usually being the cheapest, especially if you are a big company and can buy in bulk. You pay for packaging, marketing, the brand name and the formulation. As The Inkey List have quite basic formulas (which is NOT a bad thing) as in they focus on one or two main ingredients, they can be much more affordable than other brands while having a similar quality. Price is not automatically related to quality in skincare.

Okay so I'm not sure if you'll be able to respond to my questions but here goes 🤞 I've been trying to do my research about these products so I can figure out a way of working them into my routine, but I am a little confused on how. So I've heard that you can apply a moisturizer before retinol and it won't affect the treatment, but Sephora's website says to use this product after cleansing and "before other serums", would applying a moisturizer and letting that sink in beforehand cancel out the effects of the retinol? And my second question is similar to the first one. Once again, according to there website, polyglutamic acid "creates a thin breathable film on the surface of the skin, locking in the moisture below..." but it says to use this product after serums and before a moisturizer. Could I use my moisturizer first and then the acid to lock in the moisture? I'm not sure if the way they recommend to use these products is based off of Sephora's preferred way (which seems to be layering thin to thick) or based on the individual recommendations of the brands themselves. But I want your opinion, so thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you (x2) for answering my question if you have the time. P.s. I don't mind if you have videos answering these questions and want to leave the links, I like watching your videos 😊
@DoctorAnne
@DoctorAnne 4 жыл бұрын
I don´t have a video answering these questions (yet), but will try and sum it up for you: The general recommendation is to use a retinoid on clean skin for best absorption and maximum effect. In the beginnings though it could be a good idea to layer a moisturizer or an oil underneath to reduce absorption, as that reduces the risk of irritation. Bottom line: You can do both, depending if you want the strongest possible effect of the retinol or if you want a slower, gentler effect. As far as the Polyglutamic Acid goes, I think that either way would be fine, but that the acid first might have a higher risk of the moisturizer pilling off the skin - you need to test that to be sure. But in general the "rules of layering" are meant to be broken, just do what works best for you.

Hi, Doctor Anne! I'm in no way of mature age; I'm 21 years old. It just so happened that I've come across some of your product reviews and I ended up not only loving them, but also trusting what you have to say about some of the products that I've been eyeing on for the past few weeks. You're like a mom or a mom's friend that you can really trust when it comes to pieces of advice on practical beauty! :)) I'm so confused: I'm a beginner when it comes to chemical exfoliation and I'm afraid my skin is quite sensitive, but I really want an acid that can smooth my skin texture excellently and remove some milia on my forehead. Other reviewers say that the lactic acid serum of The Inkey List is gentle despite having a 10% concentration. However, The Inkey List's AHA is promising and sounds gentle, but can it help with my skin issue? Hope you can really help me out with this minor bafflement. :)) Thank you so much!
@DoctorAnne
@DoctorAnne 4 жыл бұрын
Well, if you are 21, I could really be your mom. Regarding your question: you can use both to address your skin issue, but lactic acid is usually better tolerated than glycolic as it doesn´t penetrate as deeply. My suggestion would be to start with the lactic, once a week, and see how you get on with it. Don´t use it more than twice a week and give it some time. If you tolerate that very good and feel like you can handle something stronger, maybe switch to the Glycolic one.

That depends on what difference you want to see. What is the main concern you want to address?

I bought the the Inkey List Retinol Eye Cream and I have been using it for over 7 weeks, I have not seen any benefits. In fact I don't think this product gets absorbed by the skin. The consistency is odd, too thick, you can try rubbing it for hours and it will remain on top of the skin, and in your fingers. The product just sits on top of my skin the whole night waiting to be washed off in the morning. I use innisfree, Kiehls and the ordinary products and I can tell the difference on how one other products actually get inside the skin but the Inkey List doesn't. Do not waste your money on this product, buy yourself something else.

That is interesting, I had a different experience when I bought it. It isn't my preferred retinol eye cream though.

Hi! I’m starting to get more into skin care, as of now I cleanse and use the ordinary niacinamide 10% + zinc 1%, rose hip oil and SPF. I want to add in q10 as well as hyaluronic acid. My question is what moisturizer do I add in? I have normal to dry skin. I was looking at Bakuchiol, hemp or the snow moisturizer. I’m not sure which one I should add in/ if I should add one in at all. If you could let me know, that would be greatly appreciated!:)

I have only tried the Sow Mushroom (full video is in the same playlist as this one), but I don’t think that this is the best for dry skin, it is very light. Which one of the others you prefer is something you will need to find out by experimenting, both should be fine and work well with everything else you mentioned. If your skin is dry I would recommend using a moisturizer before your oil or even instead of it.
