Charles makes a LOT of sense. Coaches give players options. The thing that was noticeable about Game 7 was that the Celtics were kept on the outside by the Miami defense, and the Celtics were cold from long range. I just laughed everytime the Celtics shots clanked off of the rim from 3 pt range - and the Heat got the rebound. The Celtics were beating their heads against the same wall.

But you should change a winning game. Just because you won, doesn't mean you played bad. You can make mistakes even when you win. You can have a lot of fundamental errors. The other team can play a lot worse than you, and you got lucky. Always look for the opportunities to correct the weaknesses in the game so you don't need to fix the problems in a losing game. Never let up. Champions don't wait to be down to improve. They hunt at all times.
@mikem668
@mikem668 11 ай бұрын
@@LoneWanderer727 I'm assuming you meant DIDN'T play bad. I see your point, but I was thinking more about performance on the day against a particular opponent. Not the process overall, or even the strategy in a series or one big game. Charles was talking about both. Shaq was focused more on within a game. I agree with Barkley that a coach needs to organize his team overall based on its strengths and weaknesses then adjust during a game or series. Based on match-ups or having an off day. There's a great example in golf. Ben Hogan used to lead tournaments, get tired and hook the ball out of bounds during the final rounds. He eventually changed his grip so it was virtually impossible to hook the ball. Golfers are taught to adjust during the round and fix the problem later on the range. In other words deal with the way you're playing today. Of course sticking with failure paid off against the 76ers. But did that strategy work or was Philly just a bad team?

I always wonder how much a coach actually affects the game. Interesting to see Shaq says it doesn't matter that much and chuck disagreeing completely. And THIS is the difference between these guys the Miami Heat and my team the Sixers. U got warriors on the Heat, that start with the coach. Hearing these guys at the press conference after Game 6 talking like their ready for war gave me goosebumps. Meanwhile my team, lead by 2 gutless stars in Embiid and Harden, literally quit in Game 7 after Boston took their heart in Game 6. That's the difference between guys that want to win and hate losing, and guys that are just ready to go on vacation.

Heat fan here and couldn’t agree more. I’m a big fan of Embid but what I saw from him last series was depressing. Even blaming his teammates. Not himself. When Joel starts to take responsibility, get in actual NBA playing shape, use his massive size and destroy defenders in the post and midrange and stop taking 3’s, also get rid of Harden who thought it was a good idea to go to Vegas in the middle of that series, only then will the 76ers live to their potential.

"When you got really, really good players, you can make tough shots. You can't survive on tough shots, you survive on open shots, layups, and midrange". Good quote. Seen it time and time again. A team can be LOADED with talent, but the post-season continually exposes these mega-talented teams if they don't have any team chemistry and no ability to switch things up on offense (coaching is obviously an issue there as well). I think it's time for the Celtics to look for other options. The only player safe is Tatum and even he's not off the table if the right offer is given.

@@markmansfieldsbwc4674 FACTS. We're the Finals teams that deserve it. Not what they(media, NBA, TV) wanted. See you in Denver.

a cable channel will NEVER host the FINALS...we gotta get ABC to sell the rights BACK to CBS or NBC...then hire them in...

@Tim G in case you haven't heard there's a thing called cord-cutting & cable is literally dying by the day... The NHL cup finals will exclusively be on TNT starting this weekend If Turner is willing to Pony up while the leauge negotiates the upcoming media deal... the NBA finals can absolutely be on TNT on at least a rotating every other year basis just like the NHL Trust me when I tell you the NBA knows who their best studio show is!

Arguably? He is. Look at his record and accolades. He hasn’t had all star to carry his legacy since 2014. Jimmy is the best thing he’s had and in years and Jimmy isn’t as good as some of the players that the other “top coaches” have.

@@OkItsJustSeanto be fair, we have to accept, jimmy is absolutely as good as any superstar come playoff time.

@@bojanpejovic7691 playoff time but looking at the entire season when Jimmy isnt playing like this, Spo carries his team every year to the playoffs, doesn’t matter who he has. Old Wade, Waiters, Butler, Spo has been the only consistent coach in the league regardless off talent.
